I hope you’re right , we’ve got 2 strikers who scored 15 Championship goals between them last season , they both haven’t scored in the League this season.

Watched Ben Stanway yesterday and he looked miles off it and he contributed with goals last year .

No idea with Rico Diack was let go on loan with no replacement

I thought that Stanway had some good moments yesterday and is edging back towards full fitness. He has looked closer to scoring in the past couple of games.

However, I also agree with you that we are not seeing the best of him. He almost seems to be too far forward playing with his back to goal and finding it difficult to connect with his team-mates. I would prefer to see him coming on to the ball (ie facing forward) near the edge of the penalty box. That is where his shooting power and accuracy is best deployed.

The Board have obviously invested heavily on the screen - given our limited financial resources they would not have done so without signing enough Contracts that the additional income ( over and above the existing income) covers the cost of the New Screen + additional revenue - no one in Business puts out large sums of Money on Spec these days.

The advertising around the ground, especially pitch-side at the south end has increased significantly even without the advertising on the score-board.

Totally agree. Not a chance in hell the Thistle hierarchy would ever mismanage the budget. This was definitely a well thought out and costed addition to the Firhill setup. What's that you say? We've no money for a striker because we've pished away cash on a Sporting Director and a Fancy Dan scoreboard.

It's ok, don't worry, we're gonna clean sheet our way to the title.

A major criticism of previous Boards was the inability to balance the Budget ~ the current Board has the full support of TJF ~ therefore its reasonably assumed that they can achieve this whilst achieving the core objective of Promotion.

Simply getting to the Play Offs without Promotion( again) isn't acceptable ~ this is the weakest League we have seen since we were Relegated - we have one of the Highest Budgets & the additional resource of a Sporting & Recruitment Director + a Management Team who have had a full Season under there belt to put the team on the Park that they see fit

Unless I’m mistaken, we don’t know how the screen was funded? So why get worked up over something that we don’t know the answer to?

I very much doubt the board decided to prioritise a screen over a striker! And if they did, I hope Barraclough ensured it was the best screen available to us or he isn’t doing his job properly

And it has to be a screen from a previously unknown foreign supplier sourced through Baraclough's unique contacts book, not a Scottish one that everyone knows about anyway.

Surely Mark Wilson and Alex Rae have been to a Comet or Dixons before and know about TVs?

It’s the weakest league since Falkirk won it. That was our year, wasn’t it ? Has it been stated that nothing less than promotion is acceptable?

I'm sure they do. In fact I think I saw both of them scouting in Currys the other week. But unlike Baraclough their knowledge of modern day leasing contracts, warranties and signing on fees for Netflix etc is sketchy to say the least. Leaving Mark & Alex to arranging all that would have been a radio rental decision.

The only complaint I have is for an extra £20 the sellers would have picked up and disposed off the old scoreboard.

My main objection to the old one was always that it said Home and not Thistle

I agree it is naff but my recollection is that this was nothing to do with Thistle. It was a freebie from UEFA in July 2019 when Firhill was used for the Women's U-19 Championships. They also threw in Astroturf from the tunnel to the halfway line I believe.

A new competition for the next Commonwealth Games?

It was never stated when Ian McCall was Manager - then when it was deemed that he would not achieve it ~ he was sacked

- it was never stated when Dools was Manager - then when it was deemed that he would not achieve it~  he was sacked

Both had previous Seasons where they didn't achieve it prior to the one they were sacked in

Its been stated by our Manager that we are looking to go one better than last  Season -and in numerous interviews  from Players etc its discussed

We now have more Football Resource than ever before and a full Season to Target & Recruit Players ~ we have a Board which TJF are saying is highly competent & they sing there praises

We have put the Manager & Assistant on extended Contracts

If all we achieve is Play Offs & No Promotion then there are fundamental issues at the Club - as we have not moved forwards

Your correct when you state when Falkirk won the Title it was a weak League & its even weaker now as Stenhousemuir don't have anywhere near the Resources or Support that Falkirk Had to maintain a challenge

We are by far the Strongest & best resourced Team in the League & are widely accepted as favourites to win the title

Not to totally divert this tread from the actual game on Saturday but don't want to start another thread on this, both games I have been to so far at home we have not needed the floodlights on but I do recall last season there was talk about needing to upgade them and we were looking for some assistance from the SFA with this but it would still be around £100K needed from the club.

Has anything happened in that regard or will we just turn up the brightness on the big television?

The New LED Screen will illuminate the Stadium & Surrounding Area with such Brightness that we will no longer need Floodlights ~  future Space Travellers will look down  in Wonderment at the "Stadium Of Light" replacing Perth in Australia as the City of Light 🙂

Both Doolan and McCall were sacked because there was a danger of not even making the playoffs.

The manager and players saying they want to get promoted is totally different from it being as unacceptable if it doesn’t happen.

I am not sure about us being the best resourced. Dunfermline have a bigger fan base and Livingston have their parachute payments and an American owner. I wouldn’t be surprised if both of them have bigger budgets than us. And I would hazard a guess that Raith are in the same ballpark as us.

Why do I have the distinct impression you hope we fail ?
