The Legend Blows
5 games in and we already have a big 6 pointer next Tuesday I was thinking about this game this morning and wondering if we are allowed to hire their pitch to train on. It may sound daft, but I’ve heard from people who’ve used it, that it’s not the greatest. If league rules allow it, surely Baraclough, Wilson & Rae aren’t naïve enough to just turn up next Tuesday without at least getting some time on the surface. I appreciate that this would open us up to all sorts of Southampton spying shenanigans, but from what I’ve seen you won’t learn anything that you wouldn’t see in our matches. Maybe keep the technical stuff for other sessions and use Ochilview just to get some pitch time. https://pitchbooking.com/partners/STENHOUSEMUIRFOOTBALLCLUB
sandy
Don’t we already train on artificial surfaces?

I've played on a few different ones and they're all not all the same. Fine margins and all that considering our record on them is pretty average/poor I'd say. To me it's a no brainer. We're playing on it next Tuesday. It's available to use at various points before then. Why not get some practice on it. It's £75 an hour. Probably the same price it costs to run the Big Alba TV on the Bing for an hour. Don't give Muppets like me something else to moan about come 10pm next Tuesday when we inevitably get schooled by Stenny.
allyo
This is not a six pointer. I know this is the height of arrogance and jinxism (my own word, proud of it) but there's no way Stenhousmuir are challenging for title at the end of the season. Good luck to them; fair play if they do.

Seen us fail to go up repeatedly and with no striker I'm not convinced this year will be any different.

But I think one thing in our favour this season is that the other fancied teams are all capable of beating each other. Each time they draw with each other are points dropped in our favour. And there's no Killie, St Johnstone or Dundee clubs who'll leave us hanging onto their coat tails. Even given our lack of scoring prowess I feel we've got a solid defence, and will create just enough to be the team this season that grinds out results. Sounds a bit glass half full, I suppose? JAG1970
Should be a more open game than what we’ve witnessed recently. I doubt Stenny will sit in at home so should provide more opportunities for us. It would be helpful if their game tonight against Hearts goes into extra time. But regardless we will need to be quicker in attack and a little bit more imaginative. Hopefully players getting towards full fitness (pick from Stanway, Dempsey, Ingram, Henderson, GMS, Ashcroft) sees us take 3 points, but a draw at this stage in the season will not be a bad result, provided we see an improvement middle to front. I’m keen to see where Henderson is going to be played once ready. On the wing, coming off the bench, or a no 10 role. And whether Samuel and Watt continue to rotate or start together, and who Wilson sees as their sub replacement if played together. All in all, a few things yet to fall into place (and maybe a loanee if they don’t).

I would have agreed with the remarks about the lack of a Killie, St Johnstone or Dundee up until tonight's result at Greenock. I see Morton got thrashed at home by Livingston and notwithstanding Morton haven't won a game this seaso I do have to say - Martindales back! The good news is Hearts comprehensive away win against Stenny. Spenny may have lost, in addition to their 'air' of invincibility, a bit of confidence inflicted by this result. My real concern though is Martindale's Livingston. They may well turn into a Killie, St Johnstone or Dundee. In which case it's the play-offs again for the Jags. No concern at all if they continue to play Kabongolo as the fulcrum of their defence. He makes Kenny Brannigan look like Franz Beckenbauer. I'm sure I did that in the not too recent past (i.e., in the past 20 years or so). Edited September 13 by Jaggernaut
