Partick Thistle 🟡🔴Vs Arbroath 🐟 🐟 - The Quest For Goals

[jagfox]

Saturday gives us a rest from the International break as we return to Firhill in the search for that elusive goal.

Arbroath managed to get a win last week and they have stifled us a few times at Firhill in recent seasons.

If we are going to break the goal hoodoo this is as good a time as any to do it.

I am still confident we aren't doing a lot wrong and the management and players will be confident of a win.

As fans we need to see tangibles, the most basic of which are goals.

I don't really care who scores but it would be good to see our front-man get one and even better if the midfield can conjure up one or two themselves.

Prediction out of nowhere, Partick Thistle 3 Arbroath 0 (probably 0-0).

I fear a "binary" score-line beckons:

0-0 would be the most likely

1-0 would be the most acceptable

0-1 would be the most typical and

1-1 would be a veritable goal fest.

[Dick Dastardly]

Result depends on whether Arbroath score. If they don’t score then we get the draw.

Hopefully we see history being made with us going 24 games undefeated at home in league games (doing it with a win please).

I take it McFarlane and McPherson are both out? McF started for Sco U21s midweek, McP was on the bench. They play next Tues, any chance of them being involved for us?

No they’re not playing

I am assuming that Budd and Ingram come in. Budd was decent in the early games this season and hopefully will carry this on and cope with the inevitable Arbroath physicality at corners and crosses.

I have always been a fan of Ingram, although he did not do his cause many favours in his 10 minute cameo against Raith Rovers, twice virtually under my nose in the John Lambie, conceding possession after ill-judged attempts to shepherd the ball out of play. I am hoping that was out of character and due to a measure of rustiness. Starting the game, he should be up to speed and, while being solid at the back, can add something positive and creative to the team going forward.

If we could play tomorrow with speed and directness that Wales showed against Norway, I'd be a happy man.

[CotterJag]

4-1 Thistle.

We need our 'unpredictable' tag back.

The irony being that if we do win 4-1, then I predicted it.

So, Thistle and Scotland will meet on the same day for the 171st time; a 40th win-double would be very nice thank you please...

Ok. I’ll rephrase that. One of them isn’t playing 🤣

No Fitzpatrick in starting 11

[Lance Gilmour]

Anyone else having problems adding today’s game to the basket to watch ?

[Dick Dastardly]

No O’Reilly either

No issues here. I just added it to basket.

[Lance Gilmour]

Must be me! I’ll await a speedy reply from the help email

Well done to whoever was in charge of the sprinklers, turn on just as one of the officials jogged past and gave them a nice shower 👏👏👏

[Lance Gilmour]

No option to add today’s game basket for, no response from 2 emails asking for help and Firhill goes to answer machine. Wonder if I’ll get my money back ? Terrible service

[Dick Dastardly]

249 minutes without a goal and the real Ben Stanway steps forward. Hope it isn’t as long until the next one.

Maybe try a different browser?

[thornwoodjag]

3870 thistle fans with a load over in North Macedonia. Not too shabby

Perhaps they should go to North Macedonia more often if it means we start scoring.

Thanks - yeah I tried 2 different browsers and 3 different devices. Resetting my password (twice!) emailing media team (3 times) calling Firhill (voicemail) and even a Fb message (no reply). Eventually, I hit subscribe, paid for a monthly subscription (on top of the annual one I have, which worked fine last week) and could add the game. By then of course it was the 25th minute. And of course there was no replay of the first 2 goals at HT or FT. Sigh. I’ll wait and see if the “media team” respond and refund me my money for the monthly subscription.

still - 3 goals and 3 points!! Hurrah!!

Up to Scotland now for another double.

[Jimmy McD]

That was 3 going on 7 today totally dominated the whole game, we upped the tempo and apart from the effort on 2 minutes it was all Thistle, club record in the league, well done to all..

[Auld Jag]

We sored 3 and it could have been double that at least. The big difference today was we scored and we also tried more shots today than in previous games. Stanway scored with 2 really hard shots, tho i felt their keeper should have done better at the second, in saying that he also pulled of a couple of good saves including one that stopped Stanway having a first half hat trick.

New home record of 24 league games unbeaten.
