"check The Club Website"

From the 'official Partick Thistle twitter site', "The end of May tends to signify the end of player's contracts. Check, therefore, the club website..."

Setting aside the inaccurate use of the apostrophe, what should we take from this? Maybe Fraser will get his big move south? Or Peter MacDonald will come and score goals for us instead of against us?

Dead excitin', intit? :clapping:

The twitter thing was actually a link from the Club's Facebook page and doesn't include the full text - you would need to click on the link in the tweet for that. Sorry, the rather obvious (and unforgivable) mistake with the apostrophe was spotted too late to edit. You've got about 12 seconds to edit a Facebook status.

Anyway, players' contracts tend to expire at the end of May ( no real thing as a 'free' in modern football) so June 1st seems a good time to provide a definitive list of exactly what the situation is with regard to contracts at the Club.

So not really "dead excitin'" but hopefully of some use/interest all the same. We did the same on June 1st last year and people did seem to find it helpful.

What we did last year.

This is probably pish but apparently according to wikipedia(probably utter crap) that Paul cairney has signed a pre-contract with hibs. Now if this was somehow true 1. That is stupid from hibs as he is out of contract anyway and 2. Do we get cash for him if it's a pre-contract?

A player becomes available for a pre-contract six months before the end of any contract (or is it simply the transfer window prior to the end of the contract?), and works in the exact same way as signing a free agent, the only difference is you need to wait for them to become available.

pretty disappointed we've not signed Robertson up yet, he is a better defender that balatoni yet balatoni gets a 2yr deal? by the sounds of it Robertson had 1 bad game all year against livvy but balatoni has screwed up on a few occasions.dunno what Jackie is thinking here. he's willing to go with 2 untried defenders in muirhead and lindsay who haven't kicked a ball at this level.
