Watson Towers
It got a bit heated tonight over: WHEN WAS THE "TRACTOR SONG" FIRST SUNG? help! There is beer and bragging rights at stake here; any comments or thoughts (or, even better, evidence) would be very welcome.
razjag
I'm sure I remember hearing it up at links park Montrose around 86 or 87.
jaggy
92 promotion season was the first time I remember it. I sang it all night in the Tavern after the Forfar game

northernsoul
What pisses me off is that the younger fans in the North Stand keeping singing "******" at the end of the song, instead of "and I drive a tractor" against Falkirk and teams from Fife etc.

I think it was the 91/92 promotion season, when Killie were promotion rivals. Out of interest, were you one of the people debating this very subject on the train home last night? Watson Towers
Was indeed; among those hiding the booze from the guard and BTP. Thanks for the feedback so far. Interestingly, this reflects the argument we had: some said "92"; others said "86". Also agree with the point above about how it is a shame that this has become "and I'm a f.... w....". My memory is that that used to be reserved exclusively for the Old Firm; whereas everyone else got treated to the "tractor" version.
German Jag
I would go for 86 / 87, for no other reason than that I moved to Germany in 1990 and can remember it prior to then.
Eff Tee Ohh Eff
Before the cup game in Ayr about 8 years ago we had a pub load of Ayr fans singing 'I can't read....' (aimed at Killie). Bang on cue a tractor pulled up at the traffic lights outside............
