Plastic Whistler
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/football-clubs-told-clean-up-2052678 Partick Thistle’s Firhill stadium failed to meet basic standards, with an “improvement required” notice served by Glasgow City Council. Inspectors discovered a dirty and damaged fridge and freezer and uncovered bins. There was no hot water or soap at some hand basins, no towels for drying hands and no food safety management records were being kept at the ground as required by law. Catering company Sporting Solutions were warned that they could face criminal action if the situation was not rectified.

Norgethistle
A spokesman for Sporting Solutions, who provide the catering for Partick Thistle, said: “All the issues raised in the report have been rectified. We were advised by an inspector that we did not need to keep food safety records because all food is pre-prepared.” Does that mean that the hospitality food is re-heats?? Noel Edmonds
In my view the club should be held accountable for this as long as we're still employing Sporting Solutions to carry out the catering services. Of course they themselves are responsible for maintaining healthy (and legal) hygiene standards, but the club is also responsible for showing them the door in the wake of these disgusting revelations. Get them tae.

peagreenboy
Scottish football fails to meet basic standards shock. Anyone buying food at Firhill needs their head examined.
Lindau
So the Record is having a go at us on the back of a report from last year?? Its not just us, its all the top clubs (how nice is it to say that) and Sevco and Hampden. Only 6 got a clean bill of health. These things must be reported. I very rarely eat at football grounds but made the exception at the Morton evening game as I had came straight from work. The pie I had was disgusting, so its never again for me. The fact that we appear to be the only club that was served with an improvement notice should send alarm bells out especially as mouse droppings were found in a few grounds catering facilities but that didnt seem to warrant the issue of improvement notices to them!! Just wonder what they actually found at Firhill???
Noel Edmonds
It's not just the hygiene that's the issue with our catering, but it seems pretty dangerous too. You've got three people running about in that short space, carrying scalding hot liquids. Wasn't there also a story on here last season too about a vat of boiling water being carried across kiosks during half time in a match? Charlie Endell
The last time I bought a pie at Firhill it was from the wee hut at the back of the Shed - you could watch the match while standing in the queue.

jags365
Since the report was actually delivered to the club/Sporting Solutions (back in February last year) the guy in charge of Sporting Solutions was replaced before the start of this season. However, as others stated, not just the food issue to worry about - see hot water in vomitorium, paper towels etc. I know the One Thistle guys and Jim have been doing a lot of work to fix these things, and having the improvement notice was possibly part of getting the group launched. Edited to add: I personally have never had any issues with the food from Firhill, other than being burnt of having no filling! But I'm not expecting gourmet pies. uberteeb
Do we still have sporting solutions and their free workers for next year?? Are they one of those ******* companies using people on the dole as slave labour? I take it this change over happened after the gone but not forgotten "Pie of the Month" season, who was in charge at that time and why did it stop? From what I remember it was a baker who actually gave a toss making special pies in his kitchen to go along with the rest of his gear. I'd go out of my way to get one back then, probably munched about 2 pies since and they've always been the veggie ones, everything else is bowfin. Even if thats the case they still have to keep records of re heated temperatures, to prove that theyre within the guidelines, although they can be faked too.....reading this, id say anyone whos been ill after a game may have been ill due to this failure of duty of care
lady-isobel-barnett
During an inspection in February this year, kitchen bosses at Celtic Park were told to train staff in hand washing . Appears they must recruit from within their fanbase
alx
Yon Dumbarton pie was much worse than Firhill. Talking of watching the match from the pie queue (obviously Ayr are stil in the running)... I've not been to the new St Mirren stadium before, so the old watching the match from the queue routine is presumably gang aglae (wipes nostalgic tear from eye). Thats the ones, they don't even have a email address or phone number listed anymore shows you just how professional they are, and at £90 ahead plus VAt (£120 +vat for Celtic) I hope they will be doing better than a re-heat. I'm sure it was a different company that was running the catering when the pie of the month was running

David Stevenson
Hospitality food last year (or at least the latter part) was provided by the guy that owns Robyns Nest and The Butney Bite in Maryhill. That would include the Pars game in April then. It was poor. Vegetable soup was OK (almost impossible to get that wrong), main course was half a Costco savers quiche with what appeared to be tinned (or if not, over-cooked) veg. Sweet was a slice of mass-produced Costco cheesecake. For the money, you could get the programme and entry for £20 and a good meal in a real restaurant anywhere in the west end with some swallee thrown in for £30. OK, you would have to que for a pie at half time. Basically, you can have a much better time for less than 2/3rds the price. It's not competitive and it's not good. The club has to do something about it if they have any hope of getting repeat custom which is the bedrock of hospitality income. Safety-wise, none of this is a problem of any notable description; it's the reckless nutters who occasionally scrunch up used half time draw tickets and throw them 2 or 3 feet into the row of seats in front of them who are the ones that should be put behind bars before a major safety catastrophe occurs.
