Big Queues At Tynecastle Today

I believe there were supporters queuing from before 2.30 who missed the kick off, that seems ample time to get into a game seeing as the 1500 we took was hardly a massive crowd by crowd control standards, turnstyles generally only open at 2, and on a cold wet January day who wants to be in the ground an hour before the game

Nope , we got there just after 2:30 and were in the ground about 5 mins later.

So can we add people arriving later to the formula and hence reduce the blame from the finger pointers on the club? It reminds me of when people complain about queuing for tickets at the portakabins at Scotland games when they turn up at 19:30 even though tickets have been on sale for months. Got to add that I was at Hibs away and it was a decent support but Hearts sounds double the amount of Easter Road which surprised me.

It's hardly the end of the world but it's just another sign of whoeever is in charge of this not having a clue about our support.

When was the last time we took 400 to an away game on a weekend afternoon?

How many Thistle fans have expressed here and elsewhere that the best thing about the SPL would be Edinburgh away games?

When was the last time we played at Tynecastle and how many did we take?

How many did we have at Easter Road a few weeks ago?

Given the low number of tickets, the lack of public transport, the restricted view and who we were playing on the 1st was it not obvious this would be the big away crowd over the festive period?

You can buy tickets before the game for a reason. You can also turn up early. I recommend using either of these methods when possible and not crying about it when you need to wait in a queue. Fair enough, it's a bit of a shambles, but the reaction is quite hilarious.

Not everyone can get to Firhill and not everyone can turn up early though.

That doesn't meant that they should miss some of the game.

It may seem hilarious when it doesn't affect you. It didn't affect me either but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be flagged up.

Sounds as if hearts were caught napping and didn't react in the right way at all. But they're in administration and are a shell of club at the moment.

At £24 a skull you should be greeted on Gorgie Rd and individually escorted to your seat. A travel rug and a comfy cushion wouldn't go amiss.

This......and maybes a wee half time massage from one of them edinburgh saunas In all........Mental prices to watch us vs what is in effect a boys club team. Talking to my brother in law last night who is a jambo and he is 40quid to take the boy with him, also their recent derby tickets were 30quid a skull....

20quid father and son into firhill seems good value in that context.....I blame our BOD for that one.

If you bought tickets for Celtic then you could have bought your hearts ticket then.

Also there was 2 home games where the office was open for people to buy tickets so it's not even a case of going mid week for this fixture at least.

I really can't see how the club can be blamed for thistle fans having to queue at an away game.

Advance tickets aren't the issue.

The issue is the club telling Hearts that we would only bring between 400-500.

Been hearing from others who have said they were also told this by various stewards and policemen at the ground.

It may help slightly to have tickets on sale in advance, but the reality is that most people will pay in on the day unless the game is all ticket. That's the most convenient option for most people, and at a time when attendances are plummeting we should be doing all we can to get people in to games.

I'm glad to hear it didn't affect you, as I'm sure we wouldn't have heard the end of it.

When approaching Firhill and away grounds I usually see a fair number supporters heading in the opposite direction. They are no doubt heading to down a few hurried pints before the game. And quite right too if that’s what they fancy. I suspect very few of those fans ever get to see a kick-off but that won’t stop them complaining about queuing when they rush to get through the turnstile at the last minute before the whistle goes for KO.

Personally I like to be at my seat in time to see the teams finalising their warm up and watching the match officials practicing their running backwards exercise. But then again am easily amused.

I'm not sure of the overall benefit of pre selling tickets for the likes of Tynecastle. It's never going to be much of an indication as to the size of crowd we bring. I'm contradicting a previous poster who got fast tracked but when I was queuing folk with tickets were in the same queue and waiting just as long as others. Besides what's the overall benefit if there isn't a ticket only gate?

Bryan Jackson and Hearts probably couldn't give a toss whether away fans get in on time as long as they get their money. I'd suggest unless told otherwise by an SPFL official that they should be prepared to open more turnstiles when necessary, they'll just continue with the bare minimum.

Arrived at 2:40pm & made it in for kick-off (just) anyone arriving after that time would have missed some of the match.

group of us joined queue just before 2.45, it was probably 5 or 6 minutes into game before gained entry to ground.

others i know were in queue by 2.50, some got in just in time to see goal, others missed it.

not exactly arriving late at ground, any other ground these times of arrival would have seen being in ground for kick off.

so like some deflectors implied earlier in thread "arriving late" at ground, isn't a valid deflection in this instance.

Does anybody know for a fact how many Jags fans were actually there.

1,021

hmmm, not bad.

couple of dozen either side of 1k

I wonder how many tickets were pre sold, both clubs would have this information before match day.

This would give an indication on the possible crowd size / number of turnstyles to open.

All too often you go to grounds with about 10 turnstyles and only 3 or 4 open,

I don't really see how as there was effectively no limit to how many away fans could've attended. If the away stand held say considerably less than 2000 and/or pre purchasing was considerably cheaper then I could see some sort of correlation between pre purchased tickets and eventual crowd size. As it is the.away stand holds well over 3600.
