  1. Just had a call from my dad regards this...  he was the one who sent in a message or whatever it was to Roughie.

You've misheard WJ - im told the message was about the Forest John Robertson who was allegedly Firhill-bound until Clough arrived and wanted Robertson to stay.

My da tells me he read that many years ago in an interview with Robertson.

So thats that cleared up lol

  2. Bottle merchants? Pish, team played well and pushed for the win from the off. Cairneys goal was amazing. The 2 penalties were soft, in fact prob not pens, their sending off very harsh. Their keeper had one of those games. Enjoyable game

    That.

On another day vs another keeper we could've scored 5 or 6.

Also thought Rowson was immense and totally bossed the middle of the park.

  3. The scottish team is the SFA, and for the good of scottish football they need to enforce the rules and standards fairly and not bow down to the old firms demands, if they do i hope Eufa, Fifa, throw the book at them as they will just have shown the SFA is set up for the good of 2 teams only

And yes as much as it pains me a 10 year ban from all competitions for scotland and there representative teams out with our borders

The Scottish team is not the SFA in my eyes. They're the Scotland team.

I don't follow blazers, I follow my football teams and Scotland is one of them.

I understand where you're coming from in wanting to punish the SFA if they do do the unthinkable. But in doing so people like me will be getting punished twice; firsly following Thistle (or any other club team in Scotland) will no longer be worth it as there will never be fair competition and secondly, I'll have no national team to support for however long there is a ban in place.

Why would anyone want that??? Or am I missing something?

  4.

If the SFA/SPL/SFL/Chic Young/Hugh Keevins don't conform to UEFA's wishes then UEFA would be quite correct to exercise sanctions v the participation of the national team.

The future of Scottish football from top to bottom hangs on how Rangers (in whatever form they survive) are disciplined for this episode.

That includes the SFA/SPL/SFL. UEFA will be watching very carefully, rest assured.

And thank f*** that they are.

    Indeed let's hope they are.

But for a Scotsman to actually WANT their National team expelled from competition is shocking to me.

  5. I couldn't bring myself to stop watching Thistle, but I'd never watch national side again, nor watch any other Scottish side (other than team playing against jags). I'd want, UEFA to throw club sides out of Europe and national team out or Euro's and World cups. like others have said. It sickens me to think they go to wall and then get back straight back into SPL.

Have to agree with ian mac though........something tells me they will get saved.

What have the national team got to do with it?? You would actually want them kicked out of the WC or Euros??

Just because you don't like the SFA for whatever reason? Jeez wi friends like you who needs enemies? Shocking statement.

  6. An excellent alternative to Torrents are NewsGroups, I overheard some Guys at work talking about UsenetServer (http://www.usenetser...om/en/index.php) and you would also need a piece of software to be able to search the NewsGroups and download the files, I've heard that NewsBin Pro is excellent for the job (http://www.newsbin.com/index.php).

You do need to pay for UsenetServer about $10 a month gets you unlimited downloads and an encrypted SSL connection, the NewsBin Pro is a one off purchase of $20.

The main difference I've heard is that unlike torrents where you need someone to switch on their PC and share their files, these files are on Servers, so you have a constant access source. In addition I've heard you get full use of your bandwidth, for example I've got a 7MB connection and that would be my download speed all the time, 24 hours a day if I wanted it, unlike torrents which depend on folk keeping their PCs on and sharing, so I've heard.

Guys at work who have Virgin Broadband are getting 50Mb download speeds 24/7, allegedly! :innocent2:

My, erm, mate has been using this for a couple of years now and it blows torrents out of the water.

99% of stuff "he" has downloaded has been virus free and the speeds are lightning, although virgin have started to choke connections down to 8mb for a couple of hours in the evening if you download too much.

Still, downloading at 8mbps is still much much quicker better than the torrent method!

Oh and joining a site like nzbmatrix is ideal for searching for your files, I have been told ;)

  7. I've been one of The Bridge's biggest critics but fair play to the lad - he was fantastic today. Now he just needs to carry it on for the next few games and I'll gladly admit I was wrong :)

Robertson too - never put a foot wrong and his booking was a complete joke - looked a great tackle from where I was.

And finally a well done too to Jackie - he knew how Accies would be set up and changed to a 3-5-2 to combat it and it worked - we looked well balanced and never really troubled for the full 90 minutes.

  8. .

I agree with te stuff about Erskine though. Criticism of him is ridiculous. He's one of the only players able to threaten other teams defences once they've got behind the ball. If we didn't have him we'd have no one to give the ball to to beat a man.

And that's how far we have dropped when a 2nd division player, at best, is seen as our "entertainer".

    Bad times indeed.

  9. I did a season as a ball-boy, 95-96 relegation season. At the time the deal was no too bad, you got a pie, a programme and a pound coin, plus I got to meet some big names (mostly due to the hu.ns spending money they probably didn't have but thats another story).

I always remember Nicky Walker being great with the ballboys, some players were tadgers to be honest but the big goalie was excellent. After he'd done the majority of his warm-up he'd let the ball-boys finish it by taking shots at him or delivering crosses, at 12 years old it was brilliant. Maybe if the players involved the young boys a bit more, even just for 5 minutes, they'd have reason to be more enthusiastic. (Although I wasn't there the other night and by all accounts the weather was horrendous so maybe people should cut them some slack!!)

You must've been a ballboy roundabout the same time as me. I got the big mans gloves after the last game of the season and to this day regret using them to play with my mates on red ash pitches and ruining them :(

I suppose I should post the link to my Thistle claim to fame as well :)

  10. Credit to where it's due for the two people I've been giving pesters to the last few weeks: Erskine and MacNamara.

When Robbo went off injured for them Jackie switched Erskine over to the left (where he should always be imo) and for me that turned the game for us. Erskines cross for Doolans second was sublime - well done big man!

Easily the worst 30-35 mins for donkeys (maybe Livi apart), but again credit to everyone for that second half performance. We actually looked like a very capable team.

Still loads of negatives from that first spell but hey - (cliche alert) they rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in second half so we can let it go!

Now let's see if we can take that second half form up to Kirkcaldy.

  11. We had more than enough to give them a battering yesterday - they looked a poor, poor side.

The team shape looked good and worked well. Didn't realise how much we miss Archie and thought he was solid, as was the lad Cole.

How many chances is that plumb Erskine going to get though? Gets into good positions time and time again yet either beats himself, picks the wrong pass and just generally ****s it up. The offside "goal" was schoolboy at best - just hit the bloody thing!

Also Jackie - why was Cairney hooked? Maybe he was injured then fair enough but that's 2 weeks on the trot the best player has been subbed. Your decision making is baffling at times and I'm afraid is leading me to think that you just ain't got enough to cut it.....

Plenty plusses yesterday but plenty of the same negatives that have dogged our season, which again questions the management and their ability to do their jobs.
