  1. I've been trying to contact the club about picking up my ticket for tomorrow, but there is no one available. I saw on the site that the office will be open until 10 o'clock on Sunday to buy tickets, I already have mine bought and want to know if I have to be there before 10 o'clock to pick it up or can i leave it until closer to kick off.

  2. I'm really looking forward to this as it's my first game since a horrible night in the east end (sorry for reminding everyone). I'm a big Dools fan but i think the Taylor "feel good factor" may be the timely boost the side need. Also I feel a bit better in the knowledge that when he replaces a striker with a striker, it will be Dools coming on and not Eccleston

  3. I'm hoping to get over for this on the 7th February, but I'm looking for a wee bit of help.

To maximise my trip, I'm taking in a Ice Hockey game the same night as the Belfast Giants are playing Braehead Clan at the Braehead Arena(at the minute top 2 teams in the league and the last time the Giants came over, the Arena sold out). I have been on AA route Planner and it claims that it will only take 12 minutes to get from Firhill to the Arena. So what I would like to know is, if the game goes to extra time

What are the chances on a Saturday night after the game, of getting to the arena by 1830.

Is there a bus that can get me from Maryhill to the arena

If I need to grab a taxi, how much roughly, will it cost.

    Cheers

    Jon

  4. Apart from holding our own with eleven men and creating one or two chances, when Bannigan was red-carded we fell apart. I felt we lacked leadership and a collective will to get stuck in. Was it a straight red? Probably, and in time honoured fashion, the Celtic players ensured that there was only one decision.

Walking down London Road with my son after the game I had the pleasure of meeting up with a Jags fan from Belfast (like me he thought we were in with a chance!). Poor guy had forked out over £300 to come over to watch that capitulation. We really need to get some fight about the team, find a leader (there should be many leaders but who / where are they?) and bounce back on Saturday.

Yes, I'm the same walloper who said we were a few players away from being a great team! Sort the above out and who knows... Gutted but still optimistic (must be the drugs)!!

I the guy that was walking down the road with you and your boy, To compound my misery, my flight the next day was delayed and then missed the train, so it felt as though it was a 2 day hammering i took instead of 45 minutes. I say 45 minutes cause like some on here i thought 11v11 we were more than holding our own.

At the time i didn't think it was a sending off, but having watched the video its a daft challenge and one he doesn't need to make. The hardest thing i have to do now is persuade the wife that this was £300 well spent and try and get over before the end of the season

On a plus note Meister Jag- the giants beat the clan 4-1 last night.

  5. Does anyone know when the date of the game game will be confirmed, I'm off Wednesday and Thursday that week as flights and hotel are cheap at the minute. Really don't want it to be the TV game, as this will the the excuse the wife will be looking for to say NO you're not going

  6. typical pre season friendly, Although it got a little heated in the second half. Osman looked like a big imposing lad in the middle of the park and does look quality. Stevenson looked not interested for parts today, but no doubt will prove to be an important signing through out the season. IMO todays left back is not the right answer to cover there for the whole season. I don't think we were ever going to loose this game but an awful lot of improving needs to be done before the start of the season. 1st touch on quite a few occasions was poor, although conditions might not have helped. Doolan did take his goal well. Good to see quite a few fans over, safe journey home.

  7. to be honest, No, you'd be better off staying in the city centre. The only place out by the ground would be the welders club. Nice and friendly in there. There is a sports bar in the Odyssey arena about a 15 minute walk, although it's mainly ice hockey stuff as it's owned by an ex player.

  8. Black Taxi that sits outside the terminal building will cost about £15. fonaCAB (02890 333333)will be about £9.

The guy that runs the social club at the oval has also asked, roughly how many people are planning on coming over. As he deals with stenaline regularly he has said that he may be able to get a special rate of £38 foot passanger as to £50 per person ( there needs to be a minimum of 40). when i get more info i'll pass it on

  9. Does anyone know if getting a ferry that arrives in Belfast at 13.45 then departing at 19.30 is too neat to make it to and from the ground? Day trips on Stena as a foot passenger are £20 return from Cairnryan including a bus pass for Belfast

you should have plenty of time, for getting there and back. worst case a taxi will be no more than £7-£8 to the ground

  10. To some people yes, but in the main steam, people just get on with it now. Off the top of my head i dont think there has been any league games but there are a couple of N Ireland Euro qualifiers on a Sunday and it doesnt appear to have caused much of a stink.

  11. i have just spoke with the bloke that runs the wee social club at the oval. He doesnt always open the club for pre season friendlies but is doing on this occasion. He has also mentioned that there has been a couple of emails sent regarding kick off maybe being slightly later, due to flight timings. I read on twitter that there were rumours that it was an u21 squad that was coming over, he has said that there was no mention of this and that they are expecting the full 1st team squad.

If going for a drink i would stay in the oval(he is planning on opening from 1400h, or earlier if there are more fans over on the saturday night) or the H&W welders(only 5 mins from the ground). I wouldn't recommend any of the bars on the newtownards rd

The area is no way near as bad as it was 13 years ago, but with everything in life, it only takes one eedjit to cause cause trouble.

To get to the ground from the city centre, the safest way is, head along the newtownards rd, turn left along Dee street(DO NOT GO IN THE PUB ON THE CORNER) then right along mersey street, the ground will be at the bottom of the road.

After all that, 20 minutes up the bloody road and i'm working.
