The problem for Seco fans is that instead of actually doing anything about it they've figuratively sat about on their backsides, blaming everyone else for their troubles: whilst awaiting the arrival of a big blue knight (we'll call him for the sake of illustrative purposes) galloping along the Copeland Road on a big white horse to the rescue of 'ra peepil'.

Unfortunately, as most adults will tend to agree fairy tails and business tend not to mix!

Still doesn't make him a striker. Goal scoring midfielders are valuable but they get their goals because they are not strikers - it's their ability to make runs from midfield into the box which gives them their opportunities. (We used to have guys like that, e.g. Craig, Hardie) and you don't replace them with a forward, you replace them with another midfielder who is capable of doing the same if you can. If they brought in another forward there would be no place for them unless there were injuries.

It doesn't mean Macnamara won't go for a striker of course - with nearly £2 million to spend he may see it as an opportunity to increase cover in other areas of the team as well as replacing the players just sold. But if he brings in a forward he won't be Armstrong's replacement.

  4. Bit of respect here folks for those on either side of the argument.

Perhaps a stat only the Jukebox Rebel could furnish but I'd like to know what our average overall league position has been, let's say since yon celebrated former Dundee MP's funeral. We're currently 9th top club in Scotland. Does our current placing represent an above or below average position over the last 50 years?

Whatever the answer re average league position it doesn't excuse last night's abysmal performance. Nor does it mean even if we're currently positioned on a relative high we shouldn't have even higher aspirations. At the same time when there's never any positive reference to our current status I find the continual slagging of the Club, players and manager by some as ridiculously tiresome. Maybe I'm just old fashioned and like constructive criticism.

    this with bells on ,,!,,
