Sensible way to look at the situation.

Even although I have been highly critical at time this season....I think fenski's on the money with this one.

Arcie to stay and get on with it now.

Sutton is brutal in how he talks about some teams but last night everything he said about us (and it was brutal) was bang on.

Driving home listening to Radio Scotland caused me to ponder.....can you imagine what Neil McCann's (Dundee) reaction would have been after that performance if he was the manager.......slightly different from Archibald's no doubt!

Lawless was injured. He took a clattering towards the end of the first half and hobbled around until half time. I’m surprised he made it out for the second half. Don’t let the facts stop the Archie abuse though?

    Apologies!

PS: thanks for letting me continue the abuse!

I thought Lawless continued his good form following the Dundee game. He was the most cultured player on the pitch but received zero support.

Couldnt believe it when he was subbed.

I knew he would be subbed before it happened...rationale.......we take the best player off and we leave the worst player on - the gospel according to Archibald!

Partly it was, but it was also to try to get Fearchar or anyone else to define what success would look like for them.  I think that Allyo has pretty much gone through every comparable club to us(and some considerably “bigger”). And apart from cup success, our recent achievements exceed theirs.

Okay points taken....I understand that we are all feeling a bit disappointed and frustrated at the moment but you make a good point - What does success look like?

I would have to consider this for some time because I would be unsure to be honest. Maybe it would be just about enjoyment. For me its not so much about results or which division we play in, its more about - we look as if we can compete, we try to play good football, we play as if we have a hunger to win and that we have sensible ambition (from the Board downwards) both on and off the park.

    Other thoughts appreciated.

Ok - let’s have it. Which Thistle manager in the last 25 years has achieved these aspirations of yours.

Perhaps it isn’t Thistle that are meeting your aspirations - maybe another club?

We all know what your reply post is about......."If you don't like it then support someone else"....that's the top or bottom of it. Nasty Lenziejag .....Nasty!

Hamilton and County both losing. If only our crap team had a bit of bottle, tonight could have been a very good night for us. Hopefully Archie unfolds his arms in the last 20, and gets this sorted.

Archie did unfold his arms many hundreds of times....each time to look at his watch! Maybe he would be better to concentrate on how to set up and win a game of football.

    Utter dross!

  9. "the key to poor results is the constantly changing team selections and formations"

I think you have nailed it in one Laukat.

If he ditches Osman and Spittal for the next game then I would run with whatever selection he comes up with and play the same team for the remaining games.

Might just work...it might not....but at least its not the status quo which is clearly not effective.

Agree with Auld Jag line up.

If there was a game where we need as many fans backing the team this is it.  I remember when Hibs went down it was a near certainty as the negativity in their support was poison.

    Please get to Firhill.

    Please support the team.

    Please be positive.

I will be there to support my team but I cant guarantee feeling very positive. However, something in the back of my mind is telling me we will pick up the points!

Couldn't agree more with everything you've said above.    (out of "likes" for today).

Particularly the bit about the rocket......

“There wasn’t much said [after the County game] - the gaffer said what he had to, he wasn’t happy. The players were a bit down - we’re grown men, we know we didn’t perform. So, he didn’t have to shout at us.

    Some rocket!!

Apathy probably has already set in Joekea.   Crowds have been down for some time now and reflect the style of play they see irrespective of the results.  I also suspect there have been fewer posts recently on this website - partly because some don't want to get involved in the manager debate.  The reaction to the Hibs game will depend on selection and attitude on the field given that a draw would be acceptable to most fans.

The Ross County game will be the watershed for most fans.

You have nailed it! Selection and attitude all the way!!

If we ditch Archibald before the end of the season (which for full transparency, I think we should do), I would be happy with a no-frills gaffer like Peter Houston to come in until the end of the season and see what he can do. A few snorts of derision I can already anticipate, but the guy had a pretty good record with Dundee United (won 42% of games), and won them a Scottish Cup. He led Falkirk to two consecutive 2nd place finishes in a very very tough Championship, and also got them to a Scottish Cup final.  He had a poor start with Falkirk this season, but their results haven't improved significantly since he was sacked which indicates to me that it may not have been all of Houston's doing.

I think with how abject and weak the current squad is, the chances of luring a manager away from another club only to blot their CV with a relegation is highly unlikely. However, there are still another few managers out of work who have decent records in Scotland and England who might be work a punt: Robbie Neilson, Brian McDermott, George Burley, etc.

Those names might raise a few eyebrows, but at the moment we have the worst form in the SPL, scored the fewest goals, won once away in the league all season, have a goalkeeper who has made more saves than anyone else in the Premiership thanks to the hopeless defense that has been assembled, and are significantly worse off than we were less season. Add to that our pathetic record again Rangers especially, our dwindling crowds, and two disastrous transfer windows, makes me think that stagnation has well and truly set in, and we are in need of some fresh energy. And it is not as if people didn't see this coming. I got laughed at last season when I said we would be relegation fodder this season after watching us post-split. But anyone could have seen this transpiring.

If anyone thinks this message board is already toxic just wait until after the Hibs game....then again apathy might just set in and we will be in a what will be - will be situation as few of us will care less anymore. Play-off at best I think!

  14. I sat in the stand and watched along with a few hundred other shivering souls, an abjectly poor display wondering where we go from here.

Osman deliberately trying to extricate himself from the game, the central defence in disarray, a forward line who never won a header, a midfield wondering what and where a midfield was and a manager standing statuesque dumbstruck on the sidelines.

If by some miracle we can take three points before the split we might just have a chance but only if Osman is benched and Barton plays as sweeper in every game from now to the end of the season...... you could argue to bring back Keown to play alongside Devine and Sammon up front for every game too.

    We can only pray!

Very Tricky!    Other names are correct but the goalkeeper is something of a problem.

Assuming this photo is taken at an actual match (eg, not a public trial) and all 5 were playing, Neil Duffy in 191 appearances only lined up with 4 different keepers ie, Niven (clearly not him), Jim Gray, (doesn't look like him), Wm Ramsay (1 appearance but not him as Smith wasn't playing that day) and Freebairn (doesn't look like him).

Not even entirely convinced it's Firhill.  "Coo shed" looks too near corner flag and terracing looks too high/steep.  If anyone can say where it's taken, it would narrow it down.  Easter Road?  Rugby Park?

Its Ibrox before the lights and the Copland Road shed.
