  1. The lack of control on Sat was disturbing to say the least, not what I expected to see at Firhill. The stewards seemed incapable of restricting the pitch invasion and the polis ( with the exception of the wee sexy one !!) were conspicuous by their absence and inactive approach to the numpties running around the park with kids in their arms , is this what we are to expect now next season ? I hope not, The behaviour of some of our so called fans ( never recognised any of them !!) was appalling and I would appeal to the club to bar them from future games if at all possible. We will need more policing than this when we play the bigger boys !! A big crowd was expected so why wasn't the control in place ? And talking of the crowd , ki can't believe there was only 5663 there , it was 7000 plus I'm sure !!

Do you live in the real world? If you think a pitch invasion was appalling a would advise you to stay in doors and not turn on your tv. Someones always got to have a moan. There was no trouble caused by it.

  2. was thinking of taking a city trip to Warsaw next year for a long weekend but don't think that will be happening now.

There must be a lot of countries then you don't visit if that program would stop you going to Warsaw. Warsaw is just as safe as any other major European city.

I personally thought it was a disappointing show, it didn't really expose much that people didn't already know. Every country in Europe has some trouble, I've seen it before in France and Italy, but I would say Ukraine has far bigger problems than football hooligans. Also, for Sol Campbell to say they shouldn't get to host it when only a few years ago he was being racially abused in England.

  3. Everyone is saying Dumbarton will not last in the First Division, they are wrong, i think Partick will stuggle next season and think Dumbarton will beat Thistle. remember Culter and Berwick Rangers! :( Stuck with Jackie for another year, dark days ahead im afraid

Spot on. Dumbarton will last in this division, I can even see them challenging for promotion. "Partick" on the other hand will surely finish 10th and get hammered by Dumbarton in all 4 games. Really worried about next season now.

    Also it's Thistle not "Partick".

  4. The club took a massive psychological hit when the Strasbourg city government refused to spend any money to upgrade the stadium for the World Cup when it was held in France. That meant that Strasbourg, the "European Capital" (in the eyes of the French), was totally by-passed for the WC. The club then also started getting less direct financial support from the city, which meant that their players and coaching staff became second rate, then it gradually went down to third rate, etc.

I'm not so sure they'll make their way back to the top flight; it's a very long way to go. But it would be a great "fairytale" story if they did.

I thought the club purposely rejected the upgrades? Was so long ago though and I'm really too young to remember back then. I would disagree about the players becoming second rate, they still had a semi decent squad and managed to win the French Cup in 2005. There was a decline, but I still think it was done to the shoddy handling of the club by the board a few years ago. Some of the forums were full of hatred as the board as they were letting the club die.

I feel they will, although not overnight. It will take a long time to rebuild the club. Hopefully it doesn't take too long as the longer it takes, the more fans the club will lose. Would be an unbelievable story though.

  5. He is 100% real.

Surely not. Nobody can be that ridiculous. Has someone met him or something?

I was in Strsbourg for three months in 1991. RCS was a solid middle 1st division club. Saw them play Monaco (with Klinsmann in the team) and against PSG. They were a good side and the stadium was full... Those were the days...

Yup, when the stadium is full it's electric. Disappointed the stadium will be upgraded for the European Championship in 2016. Love the stadium and no doubt the kop will be completely changed. The amazing fact is they have been relegated at least once every decade for the last 60 years. As I said though, they will back in the big leagues.

  6. Almost equally spectacular, but in the other direction, is the fall from the top flight of Racing Strasbourg. Used to be one of the biggest of the big teams in France, European Competitions, suffered relegation after relegation in the last 15 years or so, and are now playing the equivalent of junior football, with virtually no chance of coming back.

Big club with a great history, never able to establish themselves as a big player. Constantly unstable and it showed on the pitch. I think they will come back though. They can attract a huge amount of support in the region and if they can find their feet and get a stable investor then they will be back. It's Racing Club de Strasbourg btw :P.

As for Montpellier, gutted they won. Have a fondness for PSG as before their Ultra groups were disbanded, they had the best atmosphere in France. Great experience.

  7. What's the point of buying a season ticket when varying offers appear during the season are presented which devalue the original cost ? You know ,like cheap limited deals and hospitaliy offers to non season ticket holders, etc.

Not to mention broken and filthy seats and dreadful catering facilities.

I agree with this. I was saying this last season that the deals the club offers seems to pander to the non-season ticket holding fan. I know this is so we get more people through the turnstyles, but it did feel like the season ticket holders were being left out in the cold. This is a great incentive from the club though and hopefully they will start to appreciate the ST holders more.

  8. As I said earlier (and plenty of others have as well) they had no basis for appeal and if anything the SFA let them off lightly. Their hatred of guys who were just doing thier job fairly (and their implicit threats as well) shows them up for what we always thought they were. Everything I always thought about them has been proved not only true - but that they're even worse than I used to think.

Totally agree. I have stopped talking to any of my Rangers supporting pals about the situation as they just don't seem to understand anything about it. So used to getting their own way they can't see how lightly they are getting off. Talking to an Old Firm fan about football is a bad idea.

  9. As I said in my post "Pubs I go in as they're OK and/or handy for the football that I'd never drink in any other time"..

Apologies. I didn't read your full post. I have a habit of doing that.

    Everyone's posts, not just yours.

  10. Pubs I go in as they're OK and/or handy for the football that I'd never drink in any other time.

The Norseman (Cappielow) surely the most unwelcoming looking boozer in Scotland.

    The Elizabethan (E End Pk)

    The Viking (Dingwall)

The Centenary Bar (Dens Pk) last time I was in it wasn't even OK pre match.

Got to disagree with the bold. I think the Norseman decent. Close to the ground, no bad pint and awrite atmosphere. The viking pub is good as well, plus its got a dart board.

Livingston is awful, no pubs in the town (always closed or getting remodeled) and the bar is the stadium is souless, plus the FBI look a like doorman they have is a bit far.

  11. This season's kit sponsor is macb. But I do not know what macb is.

I hope that the kit sponsor will be something related to Glasgow or Firhill, like Glasgow Credit Union, Scottish Building Society, or Firhill Complex Glasgow.

And the player number should be printed on the shirts below the sponsor logo. The present style (number printed on the shorts) is too difficult to see.

  12. Can't say I'm looking forward to any away games next season, Arbroath if they come up maybe, but the rest are dire. Dumbarton is just soul destroying, not great pubs and not far enough away to get a good drink traveling to the game. There's really nothing that could tempt you to go to the away games next year.

  13. I would like it if we had an 'anthem' like song instead of just chants. All of our songs last under a minute. Something like 'You'll never walk alone', always think it sounds decent when Liverpool sing that during the last 5 minutes of a game. My lack of creativity is affecting me picking a song.

  14. Yeah still Junior. Think it was either just before or just after they had won Junior cup final (I'd need to ask him). The side he had the best of times with was Muirend Amateurs. Archie Gemmell was in the age group just below him as was Stuart Kennedy (Aberdeen right back).

Haha, couldn't imagine the Roy winning anything when a first watched them. Charnley also play for Rob Roy around 10 years ago before we signed him again.
