  1. Ok Nomads, heads up.

I await delivery of last year's shirts that a subset of this group sponsored. When I have them then the raffle will be held.

Time for next year's sponsored shirts/strips donations to be organised.

This is a good time for me to hang the reins onto someone fresh to carry the Nomads forward. Retirement looks good.

Let me know if you are interested.

    Cheers

  2. If any single act is taken in isolation, we could lose sight of the bigger benefit to be had by encouraging a mutually beneficial bond between the Club and those supporters who are unable to get to Firhill - the core of the Nomad family. With approx 750 Nomads with a good number coming from other countries, we have shown both here and on Facebook that we can raise funds when motivated.

I suggest all parties remain motivated. UK Nomads can get their "season Ticket" as I do for lots of Jagszone goodies and the prospect of seeing the Jags in full a few hours after the game.

That is the core reason for Nomad existence.

  3. I don't use it because a 3 pm kick-off means midnight where I am; at that time I'm already fast asleep or else out somewhere. Midweek games are during the middle of night here, again not convenient.

That's the case for many many Nomads, some of whom will watch the game when they next can after awakening. That is the nature of the offer to this round world of ours.

  4. The Jagszone World Service’s future is contingent on people signing up - no surprises there.

It’s important that we realise that the international side of Jagzone (particularly the live stream aspect) is the most costly and difficult for the club to provide and, unless numbers increase over the next few months, the Club will need to think seriously about whether it continues next season.

To be absolutely clear, this is not something that anyone wants to have to do, but if the figures don’t add up then the Club’s hand may well be forced.

It is a service that we Nomads asked for, so to enable it to continue, we need to sign up in greater numbers.

Can I ask you all to stop and think about signing up and doing so soon, particularly those international Nomads?

If you have a reason for not doing so, could you send me a Personal Message and spell it out to me. I will then be able to give full and honest feedback to the Club. I ask you to do this so we keep this thread “nice and clean”!

To show everyone who has responded, please add your name to this thread.

One further thought, have you registered your email with the Club so that they can communicate directly to you? It would be good if we all did – and let them know where you are from!

Nomads, just crazy about the Jags.

  5. I have just checked out the extended highlights and the full match replay.

Surprised that there is no commentary audio linked into the video? Intentional? I had expected to hear Raymond and Ian.

Looking closely at the video the frame rate ought to be increased to smooth out the slight judder I could see.

    The grass looks lovely..........

  6. Getting into the website was noticeably slow. Ditto the Audio from England. Buffering 2/3 second delays every minute or so. This was a poorer experience than the preceding trials. Should be easily addressed. Early days. Crap result does help my mood! I heard of some outages from around the world too. Should be easy enough to get feedback from subscribers .... They know who we are!!!

  7. It's definitely 10 payments. Check the Maths above in Shug's original post.

Look again lads. IMO The packages ideally should be considered as an annual "online season ticket" with the annual costs paid over the 12 months. We get great value around games home (video) and away (commentary) and the other pre and post game stuff. We also get info etc during the Close season too. I hope that folk continue their subscriptions unbroken for many happy years to come. Incoming cash can only help our Club.

  8. Jagzone

There are days, good days and sometimes, but not often, great days.

    Today is a great day!

For quite a few years now I have been doing what I can to promote the Nomads of this world of ours to bring us ever closer to all things Thistle.

The Club has clearly been making great strides recently in enabling us all to tune into what is going on at Firhill. Jagzone is a huge leap forward in completing this long Nomad journey – We are no longer lost out there around the globe. Instead Jagzone will enable us to “Be There” when the team run out onto the Firhill turf. Yep, I am excited.

The Official Club website has news bulletins of this initiative, so keep an eye out as this firms up!

Here is what I have learned from contact with the set up team.

There will be two packages of Jagzone - Worldzone and Standard.

    - WORLDZONE Annual sub £155.88; £12.99/month (for NOMADs outside the UK and Ireland)

Jagzone World is yet to be finalised but the main elements they hope will be included are:

    • LIVE streaming, hopefully in HD, of all first team matches played at Firhill Stadium. For the first time ever, it means NOMADS will be able to follow all the action from Jags games at Firhill. We had a couple of closed trials towards the end of last season and it looked great and it will only get better over time.

    • Improved Audio Commentary. (linked to the live stream) We're upgrading our equipment for the audio commentary and will be introducing Jagzone LIVE - our new audio commentary service. With new technology now available, the show will begin 30 minutes before kick off and will bring you all the build up from Firhill. It will feature exclusive audio content from behind the scenes at Firhill with a guest on each show so that Jags fans from around the globe will be able to hear the thoughts of playing staff throughout the season.

    • Home match programmes. A feature that is still to be confirmed, but we are hopeful that Jagzone World subscribers would receive an on-line matchday programme from all home fixtures to read and enjoy in the build up to kick off.

    • All elements of the Standard package below.

    • NOTE: There is also the option for a Pay Per View option, which would only give you the live stream from Firhill, for £4.99 a match.

    - STANDARD (Annual sub £71.88; £5.99/month for Thistle supporters in the UK and Ireland)

    • Full game replays including the audio team’s commentary. For the first time, Thistle fans will be able to enjoy full game replays of every competitive first team fixture. SPFL media restrictions mean that these can't be uploaded until 10pm (Firhill Time) on a Saturday, but these high quality replays will ensure that Jags fans can watch every minute of action from the season ahead.

    • Extended match highlights. We have increased our highlights package this season and each game, so far, has had around 10 minutes of highlights for Jags fans to enjoy after the game. Again due to media restrictions these will only be available from midnight following a Jags game.

    • All video content. Access to all Jagzone video content which includes, but isn't limited to, pre and post match reaction videos. Development League coverage. Thistle Weir Youth Academy footage. Behind the scenes interviews with coaching staff.

    • For AWAY fixtures, Jagzone subscribers would be able to enjoy Jagzone LIVE audio commentary, starting 30 minutes before kick off and concluding shortly after the full time whistle ( For away matches Thistle are unable to offer live match streaming. This is due to various factors which range from space in opposition gantries to reliability of the opposing clubs WiFi. Firhill will be cabled up specifically to give us the capability of streaming home fixtures. )

The monthly fee works in the same way you would subscribe to a product like Netflix, Spotify or Amazon Prime. It is a recurring payment taken once a month to cover the annual costs in providing this service which will have interest during the close season too!

Travelling Nomads can mix and match to get the best service. Here’s an example. When I am in the Florida next I will use Worldzone to watch the Jags at 10am on Saturdays. When I get home I’ll need to revert to Standard and enjoy either the highlights at 10pm or get more beer in for the full game replay into Sunday morning.

Graham Roberts from the Club is a “Hon Member” of our Nomad Facebook Group and has volunteered to answer any of your questions.

Here is my pitch. We have worked hard and waited a long time for this. It is the reason our Facebook Group and indeed our sub-forum here were formed. It will succeed or fail depending on YOUR actions in participating. We need to get our subs rolling into Firhill to make this thing fly. We have this one chance to seize the day. The Club will be monitoring take up of this fantastic offer to us and other Thistle fans to ensure success,

I will subscribe to this. Will you? Add your name to this thread let me know how take up from us goes.

    Make your day great, Nomads!!

Nomads, just crazy about the Jags!!

  9. All Nomads should visit the Official Club website and take part in this survey.

Things are afoot over in our official club website. Ever single one of us needs to engage in the announced Fan's Survey. It is available to us on-line and gives each of us a direct means of informing the club of what it means to be a Nomad and what we would like the club to consider in further enhancing existing ties between it and it's fans who just can't get to see the team through distance or personal circumstances. Do not miss this opportunity to have your say.

Feel free to share your thoughts here too as they might trigger even better ones!

A current hotspot for me is the benefits of video links into club meetings no matter where in Firhill or indeed other venues. I believe Wifi and other techie improvements would be needed.

  10. Really enjoying the audio commentary. Thinking back 8 maybe 9 years ago when fans were crying out for this sort of thing. Raymond and Michael make a great team and the interviews at half time are so good at making you feel you are there with the army.

  11. Hello Nomads,

Yep, another season has gone and another approaches. It’s that time of year when the postman brings renewal forms for PTFC kit sponsorship to my door.

As you may well know, we sponsored 2 shirts last year. I'd like to think we could outdo that this year?

As ever, all you need to do is send me your contribution in multiples of £5 please with each fiver earning you a raffle ticket for a chance to win a shirt at the end of the season.

Paypal would be great. Just label your contribution as a gift and no deduction will be made. Send your payment to [email protected] as usual.

If you are not into Paypal, send me a PM or e-mail and we'll use other avenues.

Many thanks to everyone who takes timeout to join in this valuable fund raising activity that ensures our profile as an official supporters group stays high.

Please act on this request REAL SOON as kit gets grabbed for sponsorship FAST!!

    Dig deep pals

    Shuggie
