  1. Would say we edged it, but we look worryingly inept up front. We need someone quite physical who can bully defenders, much like Craig was.

Besides that we were OK. Fraser looks good, Gabriel looked solid if a bit rash and Forbes drifted in and out of the game. Not bad but not great.

  2. I finally went and renewed my season ticket this afternoon as I was in the area, and was given a voucher for Saturday while I was there, so I imagine the rest have been sent out. Considering most of the won't be going far they should surely arrive on time.

  3. That's weird. It was up a few weeks ago when I renewed, although I don't think they were filling it in at that stage.

Any idea why an electronic version isn't available, even just for reference? I'd happily take a shot at creating one, but I'd need a copy of the original chart from which to work. Wonder if the club would send one out.

I tweeted the club and they said they would be willing to send one if you get in touch.

  4. I've finally got round to renewing my season ticket, and I'm wondering if anyone knows how the seats are numbered. I didn't reserve one last season but with the new seating policy I need to pick one this time.

  5. Keep hearing that Brian Graham is on his way to us from Raith, so hopefully he won't follow the John Baird philosophy of being prolific in the first and useless in the SPL. Besides that we're probably looking at players like Ross Forbes who have SPL experiencebut have fallen out of favour at their clubs. Stevie May would probably fall into that category as well.

I'd like a stronger back-up keeper too. Don't see Scully staying (and I wouldn't want him either) and Wightman would be too raw. Wouldn't object to having Smith back after doing a respectable job earlier this season.

  6. Do they still make it? Almost 10 years since I cared about the SPL but next season I want to have all the rare shiny ones and full squad. Only one team mind . Or are we stuck with match attaxs that I saw in the newsagent

I had one of them when we were last in the SPL, and it was massive during that one year at primary school (seriously, even folk with no interest in football were collecting them). Think I completed Kilmarnock and almost finished Thistle and Hibs.

  7. I haven't bought FIFA in a few years (give me Football Manager any day), but seeing as this will be the first time since FIFA 2004 we've been able to play as the Jags I'll certainly be picking this up.

  8. Some bald guy was hit at the league cup game against hamilton at the start of this season by an errant shot during the warm-up (can't remember which team hit it). The sound from that hit was just epic.

I actually picked up a ball at a match for the first time a few weeks ago during the warm-up. I nearly lost my programme as I'd held that out to protect myself, but the ball landed a row in front of me and I threw it back onto the pitch. Childhood ambition achieved!

  9. It was a very costly mistake, for sure, and while I can't say I hope he gets a proper punishment I do think he should. Yes, he was provoked and yes he'll get a greater ban because the TV cameras and SFL bigwigs were there, but you can't possibly defend what he did. If you did that in the real world you would be done for assault, and as a professional player who kids will idolise the SFA have to set an example.

Hopefully spending the rest of the season in the stand will teach him a lesson and he'll calm down in the future.

  10. That's insane! It reminds me of a youth match at my local park, where one player tripped on the goal line and landed face first in a massive muddy puddle. The blue and white stripes on his shirt became blue and brown but he commendably just stood up and played on.

    Star of the future there.

  11. I seem to remember a group of kids and some Dumbarton fans having a go at each other, but there was nothing series. Glad someone was able to intervene and diffuse the situation before it got any more serious.

I do have to question the logic of having the fans that close to each other. You're just inviting those kinds of incidents, which could get serious in the case of a big crowd. Perhaps a few rows of seats and some steps should be set aside for segregation.

  12. I agree it's win or bust. If we don't win our destiny probably isn't in our hands, and you want to avoid that at all costs.

Expecting a very large crowd there. Morton brought over 1300 to Firhill so I would expect us to match that at the very least, though I can imagine us taking anything from about 1500 upwards. A friend who isn't that interested in football is going to be there (supporting Morton, sadly), and I would expect people like that on both sides.

  13. That was great to watch, especially when Rangers pressed the self destruct button in the final 10 minutes. Quite how anyone in that team is anywhere near the national squad is beyond me.

Very pleased for Jackie, he's still the consumate professional and I wish him well.

  14. Great news that the BoD have taken swift action and appointed a known entity. Have a feeling this could go either way, but all the signs are good and the squad is in place for a great end to the season.

All the best to Jackie, too. I don't hold this against him, but he'll never be remembered as the man who lead Thistle to promotion.

  15. Seems more likely that this has been on the cards for longer than anyone is letting on as we have no idea what the "improved compensation" actually is.

Houston's immediate departure was only in the papers this morning, even even then they were still pointing at Evlis, so I don't imagine it's been on the cards to too long.

As for the compensation, I sadly suspect it went from being "none" to being "a wee bit".

As the OP said, I hope Jackie's successful at United, and I also hope we thump them next season!

  16. A slightly average performance against a very average team. Paton and Bannigan stood out, Forbes deserved a goal from at least one of his free kicks. I thought Craigan had a good game, especially in the first half, Erskine pulled shift but nothing really worked out for him, or indeed anyone else.

Overall, a deserved 3 points, but next week will be a slightly bigger test.

  17. :happy3: What can I say ? It should've been an 8-2 scoreline if all chances had gone in. It looked a good game. How many Fans attended ?

The 4th Goal was a very well taken effort with the lead up to the lob just fantastic. Even Messi would've proud of that one! :head_ball:

Attendance was 3200-odd. Considering how I couldn't feel my face afterwards I think that's good.

  18. Confirmed in match programme, new kit sponsor is joma. New home/away strips etc for next season.

Can't complain about that. Joma's kits seem to border on being a bit plain, but I'd rather that than a cluttered mess (read: Hummel).

This season's away kit will take some beating though.

  19. I'm not sure exactly why Erskine is always labelled as inconsistent in a way that (for example) Doolan or Lawless isn't. Most of our attacking players have lacked consitency this season. In fact I'd say Erskine has probably been the most consistent of our attacking players this season.

I think it's in the sense that if you give the ball to Doolan or Lawless you can be sure something will happen, whereas you can't say the same about Erskine. He'll quite often misplace a pass or fire into the stand. However, something amazing happens more than often enough for him to be among our best players, and I agree his finishing and crossing are much improved this season. Like Forbes, he's absolutely awesome when he's on form and well worth the price of a season ticket.
