  1. What's everyone's problem with Conrad putting himself out there and training with other clubs? How is that "pretty sad" and what actually is the problem with him "touting himself"? The guy is looking for a club, what's he supposed to do?

He was a terrific servant to the club for years and then decided to go and try something new. Maybe he's regretting his decision, maybe he's not. Conrad > Seabo IMO. I'd have him back here in a second. Him and Frans were the best partnership last year...

  2. Total **** up with coverage of Higgy's quick free kick, but you can just see the ball rolling before he hit it so Ref should have pulled it back. Yet again were done by incompetence of a Ref.

Got to give Killie credit for this goal. Quick thinking and guile from Higgy just left us napping. Don't think we can blame the ref for this one. Our defence should have been more alert...

  3. kris will be remembered in years to come by those that were lucky enough to have seen him.

similar tokenny arthur in respect of just keeping his head down and seeing off many challengers to number one striker role

Nah. KA was more of a cult hero at Firhill. Doolan is an actual legend and as has already been said, we should count ourselves lucky we get to witness a player like Dools at Thistle.

I don't think I'll see another Jags player come close to Doolans scoring record in my lifetime...

  4.

Bannigan doesn't appear to be at the races yet this season.

I actually thought Banzo had a good game. Did is best to take a grip of a midfield dominated by sellick and when e got the ball, he used it well. He showed good awareness with his passing and I also thought he linked up well with Fraser when he came on...

Pogba looks like a real find doesn't he? Another positive I can take from that was Hendry and Lindsay. They didn't look out of place against a team, that lets face it, are miles better than anyone else in the league...

  5. LIB you can put whoever you want in your nightmare 11. It's aw just a bit of fun in the close season intit.

For what it's worth, I though Anis was a better RB than Paton and Will Snowden must have been so shite I can't even remember him playing for us.

People saying I'm a bit harsh on Chappie being in my 11. Sorry I caused offence. I just never rated him myself...

  6. Have to say I think the OP is way wide of the mark with some of his selections. A good few players in there who were decent players for us, especially Chappie.

Also a bit harsh to have Paton in there. His first season at RB was excellent.

    Just my opinion IM.

I just remember being extremely frustrated watching Paton in front of the city end of JHS. He couldn't beat a man, was (still is) completely one footed and was prone to being a bit rash in the challenge. I am very aware when McNamara moved him to midfield he was a revelation but personally I thought he was pish at RB.

I remember Chappie having a great work ethic but can't remember him being very good technically. He seemed a bit lightweight to me...

    IMO

  7. Just to prove that the foundations of our current squad is an embarrassment of riches in comparison to squads of the past, out of sheer boredom I have compiled a squad from my hazy memory that would give any Jags fan nightmares.

I'm sure there are players I'm omitting that have been so bad I've scratched them from my memory but these are the cart-horses, has -beens, and duds that stick out most for me.

Also it may be obvious to some that I only started going to Firhill around 2002...

    Bryn Halliwell

    Paton* Piccallo Madaschi Kev McKinley

    Chappie Fulton Kerr Bonnes

    J Hamilton S Lennon

*C'mon, he was utter shite at right back.

  8.

Suggest you go to the away stand if you want to applaud opposition players.

    Gies peace.

I applauded Mark Roberts when he played for Ayr, I applauded Kenny Arthur when he played for Airdrie and I applauded Erskine when he played for Dundee Utd. I'll applaud Foxy from the North Stand next season and I'm sure I'll not be the only one...

  9. Christ, we're a sensitive bunch us Thistle fans... I will be in the Northy next season and I'll applaud Foxy for being a great servant of the club and playing his part in the best ever Jags squad I've ever seen. Ok some of his words prior to leaving could have been thought through a bit more but the guy seems to be taking a lot more abuse on here than he deserves.

  10. Seems a reasonable result here... Can't complain.

I don't know if this has been mentioned previously but judging but the large amounts of games he bet on, I hope the wee man doesn't have some kind of problem with the gambling. I've heard a lot about the lifestyle of these young footballers, training 4/5 hours a day, 4 days a week, they have a huge amount of spare time to fill so gambling is a great way to relieve the boredom and it is extremely addictive.

Looking at the average wages there of the Thistle squad it's not as if he's got a mountain of cash to batter into (unless he's been extremely successful at it). I think the club has a care of duty to the players to make sure there is not more to this than meets the eye and offer support should it be needed...

  11. I'd love Ross County to go down. Can't stand them. Too far away. Awful footballing team. New starting 11 (bar Scott Boyd) every 6 months. Shite away support. I would shed no tears if they went down.

  12. Decided to post this here as I believe it is the thread for the slightly obsessive and numbers oriented.

Our remaining chances of relegation this season..,

Motherwell have 4 games. There are 81 combinations of results based on three outcomes per game (win, lose draw), 3^4. Only one scenario puts us in danger (4 wins) - Chances are 1 in 81

Assuming this, we have 3 other games (already assumes that Motherwell beat us). 3^3 = 27 outcomes. 4 outcomes keep us in danger (3 defeats or 2 defeats and a draw in any single game). 4 in 27, or approx 1 in 7.

Assuming this, Ross County have 3 games (already assumes that Motherwell beat them). Ross County need 5 points from 3 games. Slightly less than half the scenarios provide this outcome. But conservatively call it 1 in 2.

Assuming all this, Killie would need one point from 2 games, Makes little difference to the stats. Conservatively give them the point. (but would you fancy them against Ross County or Accies?)

Assuming everything above, we are in the play-off, which statistically we have a 50% chance of winning. Therefore 1 in 2.

    Combined probability is 81 x 7 x 2 x 2 = 1 in 2,300 chance of relegation. We are 99.96% safe!

But I'll probably regret this. Add in the Thistle factor and it's about 50/50.

  13.

If the mods could create a special 'pun free' area of the forum where all yous dull people with 'no sense of humour' can go and be serious without wrecking interesting threads then I think everyone would be happy.

    Agreed.
