  1. Alan Shearer made a comment on MOTD about Chelssea being happy to knock the ball about in front of their opponents and not doing enough to get runners beyond the defenders to give the midfield something to aim at. Made me think of Thistle.Would be nice to keep a clean sheet now and again too.Not the end of the world though, we'd have accepted where we are now at the start of the season.

Can't believe some of the criticism Doolan's been getting. 5 league goals so far and he wasn't in the first 11 for first few games of the season.

  2. Aberdeen are second in the league, favourites for the league cup and last week they pumped Motherwell at Fir Park despite playing most of the game with 10 men! With twenty minutes to go they brought on two former internationals with EPL / Championship experience. They are and should be well ahead of us. St Mirren on Saturday is what's important.

  3. I counted 4 police officers and 27 stewards in the north stand at one point in the first half. Some of them might have been first aiders but it's still a ridiculous number. There was only about 100 odd fans.

Edit - just read the post about a training night, that would make more sense

  4. If hearts were definitely going to bring 3000+ then it might have been worth asking people to move and segregating but if they only took 3000 to St Johnstone and this game is on the telly and Friday night then they might not have brought a great deal more than 2300 anyway.

  5. I would have preferred a draw tbh but as above, at least Hearts should bring a decent crowd on Friday. I'm trying not be greedy and would settle for a draw with Hearts, if I'd been offered 5 points out of our first 3 games ten days ago I'd have bitten their hand off. If we win I think I'll be delirious.

  6. Grrr... don't get me going on my pet peeve... any tourney that bounces you straight into the last 16 is a farce in my book... just 4 single games to win a Cup? It's been chopped away for years 'til it's got to this stage. Used to be 6 mini League games just to get the 2nd Round! Then it was home and way into single games. Now just 4 single games. Pah.

When you put it like that, 4 games to win a cup does somewhat devalue it. Farce!

  7. Why is Inverness CT getting a bye a farce? They finished 4th in the league last year and I assume all the bye's are based on league placement and european qualification. If anyone, I'd question Hibs who lost a cup final being there instead of St Mirren who won one.

    Anyone at home please.

  8. Spoke to a hibs fan in work about this yesterday and he pretty much said exactly this.

If Hearts go, it would mean another 2 pay days disappear from the Hibs balance sheet, in addition to the ones they lost last season via Sevco.

The house of cards that is Scottish Football is slowly coming down. If Celtic don't make the CL this season they will also struggle IMO.

If Hibs are going to struggle for money without Hearts they probably shouldn't have splurged £200,000 on James Collins. Hopefully the Ukio Bankas statement is just an idle threat to wring as much money out of the Foundation of Hearts as possible.

Celtic made circa £20million from the Champions League last year and have made £17.5 million in player sales this summer. That should see them through the season even with reduced season ticket sales and failure to qualify for the CL.

  9. Bing translation of the Morton Thistle v AEL Limassol game from the Limassol website. They kept us away from the fireplace:

There is satisfaction in the ranks of our group's mission for the first friendly game held in our basic preparation in Scotland.

Our team has failed to score in the goalless friendly draw against Morton Thistl but there is a satisfaction for the show and the picture you took out our group friendly.

Our team played in the friendly with just two workouts on their feet players in Scotland against a team which this Friday begins the official obligations to a possible Championship as the Scottish Premier League.

The Bintigkal Lito and his partners were happy with the placing and combative presence of our footballers.

Before the game the Portuguese coach had stressed to the players that would use a match lineup for about 60 minutes in the game and the others will play for the remaining time. And the same thing will happen in Monday's friendly where another match lineup will get more time to participate.

Mr. Bintigk min stressed his players that will be fair to everyone and will split the time participation in preparatory friendlies in Scotland.

Later in the afternoon today the AEL TV will present statements of our coach Mr. Lito Bintigkal after yesterday's friendly for the account and his impressions.

In yesterday's friendly got time 21 footballers from their participation 25 participating in the mission. It was attended by Karim Fegkroyz, empo Ando that he feels discomfort in the back, Gkoyiami and Andrew.

Our group had not particularly in the game and kept the opponent away from the fireplace. While as many times as necessary, so the 18-year-old George Romero but played for ten minutes were on hand.

The program includes afternoon workout today at 16.30 time Scotland.

Sunday afternoon the Bintigkal Lito will analyze the video of yesterday's match players.

By the early morning of Sunday in the Athletic Centre is the Vice President of AEL Mr. Michalis Charalambous who came to watch up close for a few days to prepare for our group.

  10. Not a bad preparation ahead of the opener, still continue to be puzzled by the influx of foreign players into the Scottish game, are our home grown talent not good enough ? Basic question !!!

If you go and watch a Scotland game, that should answer your question.
