  3. Here in Sydney we have a new Football Team The Western Sydney Wanderers and it's their 1st season in the A league.

No one gave them a chance in their 1st season and predicting the Wooden Spoon but that's not the case. They sit proudly 3rd in the league

and they are playing great football. Their equivelant of the shed congrigate at the back of the City Goal and they chant and sing their heads off

all through the game but the most exciting thing about all that singing is when they Chant at the 2 sides of the ground.

They start at the left hand side of the ground and chant " WHO DO WE SUPPORT' and the fans on that side chant back "WE SUPPORT THE WANDERERS"

Then they chant at the right hand side "WHO DO WE SUPPORT" and the fans on that side chant back "WE SUPPORT THE WANDERERS" and this goes on

at various times during the game and the atmosphere is brillaint even watching on the telly. The recent game when they played Sydney FC was a great game

and the atmosphere was electric with the Sydney FC fans at the back of the other goal packed in and trying to emulate the Wanderers with their own chants.

A bit like the atmosphere at an Auld Firm game really.

I hope that the crowd for the Falkirk game is a good one and plenty of chanting going on! MONNATHEEEEESELLL!!!

By the way their strip is Red and Black Hoops!

  4. I used to wear one like that up toTiffanys on Sauchiehall St when I was an 18 yr old with the long hair down to my shoulders.

I thought I was Jack The Lad with that Jacket and my 4 inch waistband trousers with the 20 inch bell bottoms and by 3 inch platforms.

Geez I must've been a site for sore eyes back then but then again that was the fashion in the early 70's. Geez that was 40 yrs ago !

Am I that old now ? Those were great days though with the hard rock bands like Quo, Sabbath, Purple etc and Oh Aye Thistle were

    quite good then too!

  5. I was going to ask the same question. I've been a Jags Fan for the past 54 yrs and I can't honestly remember

if we have won a game at the very lasy minute of a game. You have to remember that it was only a few years

ago that FIFA brought in the added time on factor. We didn't have that in the old days, we had to rely on the Ref's

discretion for any added time on. I would say that this added time on is Great if it is an advantage to your team but

a blight on the gane if goes against your team. Look at Rangers against Queens Park a couple of weeks ago for

example or even Man Utd against West Ham on the weekend. How can we be sure that th Ref is going to play the

exact added time on anyway? Last night i watched West Sydney Wanderers at home to the Central Coast Mariners

and there was 6 mins added time due to some idiot at the Wanderers end throwing a firecracker onto the field. The

Mariners scored a second goal in this time to win the game 2-0.

I just feel that Thistle have had more against them as added time compared to winning in added time if you gt my drift.

  6. It's no different here in Sydney. It's normal to see 2 or 3 women enter the supermarket and stop just inside after the auto entry swing gates and have a chat about Shyte! Then there are the ones who get on the Mobiles to ask if it's ok to buy that Marked Down product that they had no intention of buying until they saw the price! Then there are the ones who browse up and down and around and around while on the mobile "Oh ah Know , Oh ah Know It's awful the price of food today " That's all you hear but they still toss it onto the trolley anyway. Mobiles should be banned from Supermarkets without any hesitation! What about when you just want to pick up a loaf and a pint of milk and there's 1 or 2 women at the Milk Fridge and you can't get to that one pint of milk that you need because they are chatting away and totally oblivious to you trying to open the fridge door!

    I rest my case!

  7. My wife is Australian, my son was born in Wollongong, I go to Oz every two years, we're moving permanently in 3 years. The weathers great but there's still too many bogans with mullets :thumbsup2:

Yep you are right especially down in Wollongong mate!

  8. In about 5 years when they all pop their clogs! Then you can look forward to the next generation of supergroups, you know, ABC, Human League, Kajagoogoo, Culture Club etc. Of course the Aussies will love that, mullets a go-go.

I happen to be Scottish born n' bred but live in Australia by choice and have done for the past 25 years. You should give it a go mate

before you start to slag the Aussies mate. You never know mate you might just like it or do you just love the really bad weather you suffer every day ?

  9. More groups coming to Oz, In yesterday's paper it had ads for a mega concert with Kiss, Motley Crue and Thin Lizzy next March

then another ad for Ringo Starr and his allstar band, then another for Carol King. So that make next Feb, March and April 3 big

months for Super Group Gigs here in Sydney. All we need now are the Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, Queen with Paul Rodgers,

Mott the Hoople, Rainbow and we're on a roll!

  10. Way back in 1973 I was one of the coaches of Possil YC and we beat Whitehill in the final of the Secondary Juvenile Cup.

Ah wiz too good fur that team and played wae the big lads in the Scottish Amateur League Div 1 and Reserve League.

We won the Reserve League 3 yrs inna row + the Hall Cup + the Ball Trophy + The Scottish Reserve League Cup. So there!

  11. Great threads these, in fact they're The Air That I Breathe.

Now Now lads, let's not get "Paranoid" about having a" Black Night" and getting" Down Down" about it cos" I'm still standing"

and I'll not" Walk On" without my girlfriend "Carrie Anne" by my side but i may "Run to You" for some help at some point!

  12. :head_ball: That goal wiz good but no as good as wan that ah scored many years ago playin' Scottish Amateur Fitba fur Whitehill when ah wiz

a slip of a lad at 18. Ah wiz facin' the other teams goalie and just stawnin' over the hauf way line when the baw hit me oan the back

o' ma heid. Ah wiz jist a wee bit stunned but still managed to turn roon an' flick the baw up in the air then wae ma back tae their goalie

ah jist feckin hit it as hard as ah could over the tap o' ma heid and the baw went sailin' straight intae the net at the postage stamp corner.

Jist wan o' the many brillyant goals ah scored in my Amateur career. So there!

  13. Nae problem. I was looking at bottles of the ol' Red Bombers in Tesco tonight at 1.99 a go. Cheeky barstewards....!

That's $3.07 in oor money which isnae that bad considerin' the brew! We pay anywhere from $2.50 to $4.25 furra wee bottle of beer.

The exchange rate at the mo is 65p to oor dollar. We usually pay $40 for a case of 24 cans or stubbies which are 375ml. In your money that

would be 15 pounds and.60 pence.

  14. Apologies to you Mr A B. In too good a mood, some drink may have been taken as well! Enjoy all the highlights wherever you may find them....

That's a Coopers I owe you when you come over for the Cup Final/League winning celebration next April...

No offence taken Mr Earl but can you make it a VB or Tooheys ? Really though, I'd love a pint of McEwans Export !
  15. In the weekend papers we had ads for the following groups coming to Sydney early next year.

Bryan Adams March, also add Sir Elton and The Hollies. Cheapest ticket so far is 78 quid to see the Quo!
