  1. Certainly pleased that Colin Weir has bought the club, rather than the god-awful 'consortium'. I only wish he would just hand over complete control of the club to me rather than bother with this fan ownership malarkey. Democracy doesn't work. A benevolent dictatorship is the way forward.

Will the site moderator please do us all a favour and close this thread, and close all future threads started on this subject until he or she believes that there are some salient facts on any takeover that we could sensibly and meaningfully discuss here.  180 pages of drivel.

I thought Mary Whitehouse was dead.

Then on the other hand there’s people who staunchly back the consortium purely because they trust the current chair and because he says it’s a good idea. They back his plans no matter how vague and indeterminate they are.

What an error of judgement it is to blindly trust someone else's judgement....

  4. This "transformational" New City Capital proposal, if the view of Barnsley fans is anything to go by, stinks.

I think some people on here have been somewhat seduced by words like "billionaire" and "business consortium".

They may be billionaires, but they didn't get to be that well off by pissing their money away on pipe dreams and vanity projects.

According to Barnsley fans, they've injected zero money into their club.

So if they aren't chasing a dream of Thistle lifting the Scottish Cup and cracking Europe (which would be bizarre, as they have no connection with the club), what are they all about?

Nothing good that I can discern.

  5. Can we change the name of this thread to Christie Elliott (with two t's).

It's the least we can do to show our appreciation for his efforts in a Jags shirt this last eight years.

I'm sad to see Christie go, and wish him all the best for the future. Gave his all for the cause.

I'm really enjoying the constant adverts for things I've already bought

My forum experience is gloriously advert-free: Opera browser with the built-in ad-blocker turned on.

That wasn't an advert for Opera, by the way. Other browsers are available.

Any thoughts about how the forum could be jazzed up a bit?

Now, why when Thistle fans pay 5.99 per month for Jagzone are these news items being put onto a newspaper first?  That is a pretty damning way to treat a fan who pays that money every month. Wasn't Jagzone put up for the reason to inform fans of all that is going on at the club? Disgraceful. Yet more evidence that off field they are completely out of touch with the fans.

Or out of their depth when it comes to doing their jobs properly.

  9. Kris Doolan has been binned because he doesn't fit with the direction that Gary Caldwell (with Jacqui Low's approval - and perhaps also Gerry Britton's) wants to take the Club in.

So Doolan doesn't fit with this new direction.

But does the conduct of those in charge fit with the direction that the Club's supporters (from occasional pay-at-the-gate fans all the way up to major sponsors) want to see the Club taken in?

The Club's support, under the present regime, are beginning to feel alienated from the Club. It's been fiasco after fiasco this season. The fare on the pitch hasn't been great, but anyone who's supported Thistle for any length of time has seen that many times before - but we keep coming back because we love the Club, its identity, and what it stands for. It's the other stuff. The SAS training farce, the treatment of Chris Erskine, the training ground saga, envelope-gate, the monthly updates, and - to top all of those - the shoddy treatment of the Club's most distinguished player of recent times.

    This is dangerous stuff.

The Board and management have been extremely - let's be kind - accident-prone in this last year. The place just doesn't feel like it's in safe hands.

Of course it wasn't a money issue.  The guy took a 50% wage cut to stay last season and knocked back a deal with St Johnstone which would have kept him on the same wage he was on in the premier with us.  The guy was as loyal as you could possibly be.  He's been treated like absolute shite.

    He sure has.

Think I'll hold back on the season ticket purchase until I see what this new direction is that GC's taking the club in.

  12. The weather in Dumfries on Saturday afternoon is forecast to be bright with light cloud and sunny intervals, a light to moderate breeze, and very little chance of rain. Temperature in the 10-12 degree range.

Sounds like perfect conditions for a game of soccer.

Didn't want to be doing this 'fighting for our lives' stuff at the end of this season - had a bellyful of it at the end of last season - but I'm suddenly finding myself a bit more up for this.

    'MON JAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do appreciate your efforts to reassure me BB, but I'm sorry to say they're in vain. Just want this season over now - whatever happens.

    Sick of this bonkers manager.

Storey has had plenty opportunity to prove himself and he has failed miserably. The fans can see he’s shite, but Archibald couldn’t and now it appears that Caldwell can’t see it either. Waste of a jersey.

Waste of a manager's salary, more like....
