  1. Dear Mr Blackpool Jags. Every year in February I go to The Magic Convention at the Winter Gardens. Put that in your diary for I shall be taking you out for a pint!!

Not that old trick of going out for a pint which really means half a dozen or more. :drink2: Seen it done many times. :D

  2. The refs get one look at the incident while we get a few replays or if you are like some you can say you have watched it 100 times now and it's made their mind up that it's all part of a huge conspiracy to deny them the treble.

The officials made a blunder but it's the same in games all over the country every week and they will make mistakes just like our players do every week

I think the standard of the game in general has dropped as has the standard of officials we have in the game these days, but it's the players of Celtic who again seem to be getting away with some poor individual performance's that has prevented them from the chance of winning a treble and not the officials fault.

It's really getting ridiculous and the next ref to get one of their games is going to be under severe pressure to give them everything.

Alot of Celtic fans will be embarrassed by the clubs response to this and they should just be congratulating Caley for a brilliant team performance which seems to be forgotten in all this.

Celtic moaned about the officials in Europe this season and now they are asking questions of the officials here, which their idiotic fans will lap up and will fuel the paranoia for years to come.

I'm all for refs to come out and explain decisions but many would never accept the fact the ref said he made an honest mistake so what is the point.

  3. The problem is that your team are exactly the same, in every single way. Hence the reason that we have no time for either of you.

Quite an easy thing to say Ian and never known any fans of clubs not moaning about something when a game goes against them

This board is the same when Thistle lose.

Celtic are the masters at it though and nobody else comes close to them when they fail fail.

  4. Being triumphalistic on a Jags Board doesn't absolve you from the fact that you are not a Jags supporter Billko.

Makes no difference whatsoever what board you are on or what team you support Barney to enjoy Caleys win unless it's a Celtic forum you are on and you are a Celtic fan.

So i will carry on enjoying it.

  5. I fully agree with the last two sentences, Billko.

However, much as I like your contributions to this forum, the content of the rest of this one is probably inappropriate given whom you openly profess to really support.

Why does that stop me having an opinion or enjoying Caley's win?

You seen Brown on camera venting his anger with Collin's in the background gesturing to the 4th official

They will blame everyone they can but themselves for their failure to win a treble yet again..

They are always cheated, never defeated and show very little repect to anybody.

Don't see anything inappropriate with what i said and think Jags fans, Rangers fans and most fans of Scottish football clubs will think the same.

  6. To be fair the Celtic one in the first half was a definite penalty and sending off, but they get plenty decisions and the ICT one in ET when Zaliukas went through Ofierre was a stonewall one as well, so we'll done ICT. Was a terrific game.

Couldn't watch it for more than a few minutes at a time and was kidding myself on thinking i was enjoying the Man City v West Ham game.

I switched over one of the times when Celtic had just equalised at 2-2 and thought Inverness had blown it.

Once 3-2 i had to switch over again and was delighted when i switched back Inverness had won it.

They show no class or repect to Inverness or anyone for that matter in defeat, and it's always the same with them and this is what really annoys me the most about them.

Good luck to both clubs in the final and really hope folk turn out for this and it's a great game.

  7. Brown moaning,,Collins moaning at the 4th official, the commentator and Andy Walker moaning and complaining.(It's ra sellik way)

Moi? I'm not moaning or complaining :D

Never seen the penalty shout Celtic didn't get but seen a stonewaller for Inverness that they didn't get.

    SUPERCALEYGOBALLISTICCELTICAREATROCIOUS

Well done to everyone connected to Inverness and a great final to look forward to.

Maybe all the so called neutrals shouldn't bother going to Ibrox and save their cash to go and fill Hampden for the Scottish Cup Final.

  8. Yes seriously (though I might decide it was too much cash or I'd have no one to go with and not bother).

Football is about supporting your team through thick and (mostly) thin but it's also about rivalry and enjoying the humiliations of your fiercest rivals.

    Schadenfreude.....

So this so called "new team" are your fiercest rivals now?

To stay on topic and answer the question, No i wouldn't

  9. Apparently we played an all U20 team against a team with several overage players. Good for the learning process though.

4 U17's played at somepoint in the match with one of them scoring.

10 wins in the last 13 games which is fantastic form

Well done to Scott Mckenzie and all the boys involved with the Development squad.

  10. His Dad is a director, but I think it's unfare to suggest his return was down to his Dad alone. Since his return he made about 150 appearances over 5 years with 3 different manager. Not bad for a cab horse.

On his day, he's an outstanding defender, but one who's prone to a lapse in concentration. Playing beside Jim Goodwin will do that to a man! and unfortunatly for him, "his day" doesn't come around too often.

I kind of feel sorry for him, i've met him once or twice, he's a local lad playing for his boyhood hero's, he lifted a cup and set up one of the goals in the final. he's done what every one of us have dreamed of doing. you probably won't meet a nicer guy.

but he's probably been severly let down by the club and therefore hasn't progressed as he should. St Mirren is a shambles of a place right now, from pitch to boardroom and from what i hear there are real financial problems.

Would I have him at Firhill? Not a fckin chance i would!

I would though look at Naismith, if his contract gets terminated and SoD leaves. I thought we'd go for Tesselar when Killie freed him, and mcginn is a prospect but would cost £300k

He apparently got dogs abuse from the fans on a regular basis and not nice when they turn on one of their own like that.

He is better away from all that crap.

  11. Thanks, billko, very much appreciated :thumbsup2: . Undoubtedly a great experience for the youngsters.

btw The training facilities at Newcastle sound fantastic. Wouldn't it be great if Mike Ashley was to emulate that and put his cash into a club in Scotland?

Would be great if Mike Ashley could provide the Jags with something similar LIB :P

  12. Early start this morning for the young Jags as the bus left Firhill at 7.30 am for Newcastle.

The venue was the fantastic Newcastle Youth Academy which boasts around 10 perfect grass pitches, an astro pitch and it's a facility which is used solely by Newcastle's youth teams.

In the distance you could just see the Newcastle first team preparing for the Liverpool game on Monday night at their own state of the art training complex which looked very impressive from what we could see of it.

Thistle had travelled to Tyneside with a squad made up of 9 boys that are of U16's age group that all play in our U17's team, and 10 boys from our U15's squad

Everything was perfect for football apart from the weather which was horrendous with freezing driving rain that was nothing like the lovely sunny weather we have been getting over the last week or so, but it wasn't going to spoil a great day.

The game started with 9 of Thistle's outfield players being U16's , an U15's centre back and Thistle's 15's keeper between the sticks and these boys were made to work really hard from the off as Newcastle went for it from the start.

The Geordie's certainly looked the part playing at a high tempo and were looking strong in all departments of the pitch which was to be expected.

They took the lead 15 mins or so in as Thistle were still trying to get their game going.

To the young Jags credit they did get into it and started to cause problems for the Newcastle defence with some good peroids of play.

The game was pretty physical at times but never boiled over and both sides were contributing to an entertaining match.

Just before HT Thistle equalised and it was a great strike from outside the box from our hard working CF who was up against 2 quality centre backs and his shot gave the keeper no chance,

    HT 1-1

Second half starts with Thistle making alot of changes with the side now fielding 10 U15;s and just the 1 U16.player.

This was going to be a huge test for these players against this strong Newcastle side.

The young Jags were on the backfoot straight from kick off as they struggled to cope with the fast pace of the game and the worsening weather conditions didn't help matters.

They were still trying to get into the game when Newcastle scored their second punishing the young Jags for losing possession just outside their penalty area and it was now going to be an even sterner test the young Jags were now facing.

To their credit they battled hard and started to get their passing game going but they were to lose another goal after an unfortunate slip from one of our midfielders which allowed the Newcastle striker a clear run at goal and he finsihed well.

At this point you wondered if Thistlle would collapse feeling sorry for themselves due to the goals they had conceded against a team now full of confidence.

The heads didn't go down though and they kept at it and as the half went on it was Thistle who were starting to play some really good football and worrying this Newcastle defence.

Thistle missed a great chance of getting a goal back and you thought that was it but Thistle's excellent centre back had other ideas who went on one of his long dribbling runs that took him clear of the Newcastle strikers then past some midfielders and then unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25yards which went top corner and was a fantastic goal.

It gave the young Jags a huge lift and was deserved for how they were playing.

The young Jags now had the equaliser in their sights but time was against them and it was a frantic end to the match with Thistle missing one last good chance which turned out to be the last piece of action of the game and unfortunately the boys didn't get the draw they deserved.

FT Newcastle 3 Thistle Weir 2

The boys heads were down but it was a great effort from this mixed U15'/16's age group against a full team of U16's and it will be a great learning experience for our boys that shows they can compete with players of this level.

It was a great day that even the terrible weather couldn't ruin and all the young Jags should be proud of the performances and effort they all put in today.

Well done to all the young Jags today.

  13. First half was pretty poor from both sides although the Well fans won that half but that drum was doing my head in.

Second half Thistle came out a different side and played some good football and were in total control of the game with the Jags fans now making more noise than the Well support.

Balatoni at the back was solid, Osman and Bannigan were bossing the midfield and Taylor who held the ball up well in the first half was getting better service as Thistle were being far more creative.

I thought in the second half Lawless had an excellent game and opened up the Well defence quite a few times that Thistle really should have capatilised on.

It was a good all round performance from Thistle once the nerves calmed down.

Good turnout today from both sets of fans which is more like it and a noiser Thistle support in the second half which no doubt helps the players.

Also enjoyed my wee time in the Star and Garter and met a real Gent in Alan Dickson who had some good stories to tell and has a wealth of knowledge of all things Thistle which we could have stood and listened to all night.

    Good day :)
