  1. A really don't think our full game plan should change for pogba to be fair he's obviously improved us as we've won 2 of our last 3 games but thinks it's a bit much to criticise your team mates because they can't put the ball on a pate for him to score every time .. There's been a good few times decent balls to him or into the box for him where he's not been quick enough or sharp enough to get to ! He's scored one goal and is critising every 1 else, every 1 apart from seaborne bannigan (and the keepers) were poor on sat including pogba

Feed the Pog!Jags striker blasts his mates’ sloppy service

    PARTICK THISTLE V HAMILTON ACCIES

    By EWING GRAHAME

MATTIAS POGBA has warned his Partick Thistle team-mates they will have to get their act together fast to avoid a relegation battle.

And the 6ft 4in Guinea striker claims that means giving him the service he demands.

Pogba, 25, opened his account in Maryhill with the opener against Hamilton Accies.

But even after taking seven points from their last three games, Alan Archibald’s men are still second from bottom.

And according to former Wrexham, Crewe and Crawley hitman Pogba, they will stay there unless they start supplying the ammunition he needs.

It was easy to imagine Pogba in the Firhill dressing room after this game, when ten-man Accies were allowed to come from behind for a draw.

You could see him giving his team-mates the kind of withering look that Nick Hewer used to reserve for the most hopeless contestants in The Apprentice.

Pogba should have been feeling like a million dollars after breaking his duck, but instead he found himself moaning about his two-bob service.

He said: “It was definitely nice to score my first goal for the club, but I was disappointed with the result.

“When we are playing against ten men, we should control the game and have an easy victory, so this is really disappointing for everyone.

“I’m happy, but I’m not happy. It was definitely not good. Even though I scored, I’m not content.

“The manager was telling us to play the ball forward quickly, but sometimes they don’t and the chances are gone.

“My team-mates are moving the ball too slowly and taking too many touches.

“But it is what it is, there’s nothing I can do about it.

“It’s very frustrating for me as a striker and for the team after this result.”

Pogba is convinced it could all have been very different if only his team-mates had gone for the Jagular.

He said: “Of course, I believe I’ll get goals if the service is there, but the type of striker I am, I need crosses and I need balls played into the box.

“If the other players can do this I’ll definitely score more often.

“Have I spoken to them about this? Every day!

“Every day I have tried my best. I speak about it at training, before games, at half-time, all the time

Pogba was making only his fifth start for Thistle, but he dismissed suggestions that his new team-mates must still be adapting to his style.

He snapped: “I don’t think this is about them needing time to understand me.

“In some cases they deliver the ball and sometimes I’m not in the right place.

“However, they should always put it in there because I might be in the right place. It depends. The best case for me is for them to deliver that ball as quickly as they can.”

It all looked so promising when Pogba prodded home a David Amoo cross from point-blank range to give the Jags the lead.

A dire first-half had ended with Hamilton’s Brazilian defender Lucas Tagliapietra red-carded for what referee Euan Anderson regarded as a last-man foul.

Pogba’s goal should have put the home side in the driving seat, but they were a car crash waiting to happen when they chose to sit back and defend what they had. And they paid the price for that policy 12 minutes from the end.

In-form Dougie Imrie raced on to a through ball from Gramoz Kurtaj to round Jags’ substitute keeper Ryan Scully and stroke the ball into the gaping net for a well-deserved equaliser.

Needless to say, Pogba was far from impressed.

He said: “For me, this match was a defeat. After they go down to ten men and we are controlling the game, to end up with a draw is a defeat. That’s what it feels like. When I look at our league position I know it’s going to be dangerous for me and the team.

“We need to bounce back and train hard this week and keep training harder this week. Then hopefully we can take all three points on Saturday.

“I’m getting fitter with every game and I’m happy with this. I’d say at the moment I’m at 90 per cent, but by the time we play Hearts in our next match I’ll be at 100 per cent

“I don’t set myself targets. If I can score a lot, great, but I never put a figure on it.”

he basicly wants it put on a plate every time or he won't score .. ? Sounds like a superstar wanna be from that interview
  3.

Seriously? In my view not enough attacking midfield players and too many defensive. We managed to turnover the ball to Hamiltons advantage far too many times. If the team took care of the ball better than they did we would have won comfortably, regrettably we were too negative and played too many percentage balls rather than commit the Hamilton defence.

taking a chance on Edwards backfired today Archie obv sees something in him though. I think putting Fraser in for osman would have been the better option because bannigan has been our best player recently in the more attacking role
  4.

Seriously? Archie was to blame for the lack of composure or quality in the final third? Who would disagree with the starting line up or changes? The team let the manager down today.

so starting Edwards was the right decision ? He made a mistake am I wrong or would you have left Edwards on for as long as he did ? He was having a ******* nightmare of a game and so was amoo the midfield was terrible and I feel he could have made better changes ? That's my opinion would you say am wrong
  5. Absolute nightmare in every sense .. Amoo is a coo !! Looks like he could be capable of so much more but he's nervy on the ball and so soft pushed off the ball so easily ! Yet he looks so laid back, Edwards must have been kept on for a bit longer not to ruin his confidence IMO he was brutal didn't look like he knew what he was doing at all.. Actually ruined the game should have been taken off before half time .. Fraser should have started in osmans position. Absolutely ruined our chances today that we had to switch lawless out to the wing for so long, big dan won everything he had to and deserved man of the match also thought bannigan was great. But I blame Archie for us not winning today

  6. Sounds like he actually put a bit of fight into his performance which really is what we need right now.. Need players to stand up and be counted for.. Last few times I've seen him he's been poor but in all honesty he must just be getting back to full fitness so willing to give him a few weeks then have a full opinion of him.. We seem to have a knack for signing injured players

  7. We aren't good enough right now I'm sick of the hard luck story we keep getting, thistle were the better team etc .. Stevenson can't start IMO he just doesn't do enough ! If you look at every squad in the leauge they have 3 or 4 strikers,we have 2 yet we are wondering why the goals aren't coming ! I feel sorry for doolan he just ain't getting the help he needs. So far he's been lucky to have a chance every1 game ,, we aren't losing many goals we should go all out attack next game if we get pumps fur enough but we just aren't giving it enough at the minute

  8. Funnily enough some 1 put some sort of stats about when craigen was in the team and when he was not and there was a lot points for us when craigen was in the team I think a lot of his hard work went unnoticed at times my only problem I had with craigen is he had no power in his shots or he would have scored a lot more goals . He had the energy and he was great at getting into gd positions

  9. The number one priority this summer has to be securing Taylor on a permanent deal. As far as I'm aware, we have first refusal on him but his affordability may depend on which position we finish. I imagine we have budgeted to finish 10th so anything above that and the prize money could theoretically be put towards any transfer fee although it would seem that crowds have been down on projections so any extra income might be needed to cover shortfalls. I would hope that he's seen that the grass isn't always greener and that his career will benefit from staying in the one place for longer than a season.

Secondly, I'd be keen to retain Booth who fits our full-back archetype and has performed very well in recent weeks. He's very handy going forward, has been relatively solid defensively and still has time to develop and perhaps be sold on. It wouldn't be ideal having to assimilate two new full-backs so if we could have a bit of continuity and keep Booth permanently, it would be good business. On the other side, we'll need a new full-back to replace the outgoing O'Donnell and I don't think Finnie is ready yet although I hope to see him kept on for another year. Gary Miller looks likely to be leaving St Johnstone and despite not being the best going forward, might be a solid enough replacement to give Finnie time to get up to speed if he remains well regarded as a prospect. If we were looking for a longer term replacement, I've seen Shaun Rooney at Queens Park only once this season but left suitably impressed although like Finnie, he probably isn't ready yet.

Fox has played quite an important role in our recent good defensive form but I think we should be looking for an upgrade in this position. Over the course of the season, it appears that time is slightly catching up with Gallacher yet many still consider him the better goalkeeper. With the highly-rated Scully returning from Dunfermline, it seems like a good time to clear the decks, thank Foxy for his service and allow him to leave. That said, I'd only permit that if we had a replacement lined up; with Jamie MacDonald, arguably the pick of the available keepers, having (allegedly) already agreed at a deal at Kilmarnock, that might prove easier said than done.

I suspect we'll be in the market for another centre-half in the summer. I think Balatoni has more than earned a new contract but I imagine he'll be keeping his options open; his and Fox's newspaper articles had more than a pinch of self-promotion about them and I wouldn't begrudge him a better move. I think he's been considerably undervalued by some Thistle fans since our promotion and many were too quick to embrace his absence from the team. I think the difference between him and Frans is negligible yet they make a far better partnership than any that Seaborne featured in.

That leads onto Sicknote. For some time, I've doubted whether we'll ever see him play in a Thistle jersey again despite being contracted for next season; I expect him to head back south. If he stays, I'll be happy to have him provided he can prove his fitness. Individually, I think he's our best defender but the Balatoni-Frans pairing has been greater than the sum of its parts. I can't see us keeping Richards-Everton on for another year after a patchy six month spell at Airdrie; it was a reasonable punt given his attributes and stature but I think he's probably just short of what we're looking for. I would hope that we will be interested in Mark Durnan from Queen of the South who looks like he'll be moving into the Premiership, irrelevant of the play-off outcome, but talk that he's been offered a deal with Hearts.

Supposing any of this comes to pass, the main replacements needed would be a goalkeeper, a right-back and a wide attacking player to replace Higginbotham (wouldn't say no to Lionel Ainsworth although he'd cost a pretty penny in wages) in addition to Booth and Taylor signing permanently and the possibility of a new centre-half to replace either Seaborne or Balatoni, should they depart. Would be very happy with that business this summer and have every faith in Archie getting it right. Again.

And hopefully, folk won't wet their pants if we haven't completed all of our business by the time our first friendly comes around.

completely disagree with you my number 1 prioritys would be lawless and osman by far our best players this season
