  1. Although not a legend I wonder where Adam Strachan ranks in this as a player we all saw as having great potential but never really living up to it. Hero to Zero. He burst on to the scene at 16 and was probably hampered with having a crap team around him. Ten years on and he's plying his trade at Irvine Meadow.

  2. I think GJ is right. The museum does anything but delegitmise Celtic's claim over Glasgow Irish heritage; if anything it reinforces the misconception that it is their preserve.

For what it is worth, I would welcome any kind of museum that acknowledges and commemorates the Irish contribution to Glasgow, but this seems like yet another cynical attempt by Celtic to make £.

A missed opportunity, then, which is a great shame, because we can no doubt look forward to years and years of this:

Loved the picture but how did you convince yer maw and da to dress up like this?
  3. A bit controversial here but Roughie went on to play for the Celtic and then had the temerity to have a picture of himself in the Celtic strip for his autobiography 'Rough At The Top'. Mo Johnston's career went to zero too (except for Scotland of course).

  4. I was never keen on George Mackie either. However, didn't we have two players in the 70's, we paid good money for and got diddly squat back. namely Harry Johnston who actually got on football cards at the expense of better players, even though he was a dud. The other was Alan Munro who I never saw play but we paid a few bob for him too. (Did anybody see him play?). In the early 80's saw a couple duds roll up from Tynecastle namely Willie Gibson and Peter Marinello. Never liked ex-Airdrie player John Lapsley either. Roddie Hutchison was also an embarrassment too. In recent times, all those payers that Gerry Collins signed that never lived up to their pre-season friendlies expectations, likewise those that performed under Gerry and Derek Whyte, that saw us relegated twice (Hate them all!). Finally, Darren Brady whose mantra seemed to be 'why pass to a Thistle player when you can pass to the opposition instead.'

  5. Just the usual. Moaning about the summer holidays being too long (Pesky Kids)! Wondering why I couldn't live in a country with decent weather, as it pisses down all summer long. Reading all those Celtic / Rangers transfer speculations in the papers and straining my eyes trying to find the paragraph about Thistle. Replaying dvd's or indulging in a boxed set (Still have Season 3 - 5 of the Wire to watch) as the telly is so shite over the summer. Painting all my gnomes red and yellow. Thinking about doing a little more exercise . . but procrastinating over that one . . again. Waiting for Marvel to make a Groo film or maybe a Shang Chi one. Overall just plodding through the summer as always.

Oh I forgot I'm going on a Baltic cruise too.

  6. Yeah I remember it well, not only the game but the days and weeks after as I played the video over and over again, pausing it and trying to explain to the wife why it was so hilarious that Gerry walked it round the keeper rather than blasted it in i.e. it was more gallus that way.

  7. Ian Jardine. Great 1st time, absolute shadow of his former self the second time.

Did Ian McDonald play for us twice as well?

Wasn't the reason for Iain Jardine being a failure the second time, a bit about some abuse he gave to Thistle fans while playing for Hearts or Kilmarnock methinks, and so he was on a hiding to nothing and really shouldn't have been signed again.
