  1. Here's my take on why some fans are not turning up. I was at Firhill yesterday with my 5 year old for the first time this season. I used to be a season ticket holder and went home and away. I loved the 1st division season last when we had a great team. Being a dad of young kids means I can't get over as often as I'd like to for our stay in the top league. I felt the season started too early this year for me anyway what with school summer holidays still being on.

Anyway, my boy loved it yesterday. He got his photo taken with Kingsley, got to shout out "mon the Jags" at the top of his voice, got a pie at half time and got to see his dad shouting at the man in blue in the middle of the park. Although this was his second ever Thistle game and he's yet to see us score he wants me to bring his wee brother along too next time. I've also converted a nephew whose family ties are with the green arsecheek. I can see in a couple of years me and three boys going along to the games and another generation of jags being secured.

I know a few other ex regulars who are in the same boat and get to games as often as they can but nowhere near as much as they used to. These things go in cycles. As long as those who are not going as much for the same reasons as me can encourage the younger fans to come along when the time is right for them then that's all we can do.

  2. 1 - Everytime we arrived near Firhill seeing more tenements being demolished. My dad grew up in Firhill Road and would tell stories about the streets, pal's who lived there, middens he'd raked for bottles etc.

2 - A roof was put on the "toilet" as you came into the turnstiles at the City End and a couple of guys exclaiming "it was too fancy", "what's up wi pishing outside?"

3 - Pishing behind the shed against the wall cause it was too far to go to the "toilet" at the turnstiles.

4 - Chewing gum and macaroon bars.

  3. I was in hospitality today.

The away support gave great backing to the team and the Saints I was with were impressed with the turnout. They struggled to come to terms that we are a young gallus team who gave them a going over. They are bricking themselves for the drop.

  4. I had a very similar experience to mediocre pundit just before Christmas.

I met up with a few pals from Paisley who were in town for their Christmas day out and a trip to Firhill was on the agenda. We took in the raith rovers game and I was in two minds whether to take them for the North Stand experience as I've been a regular there this season. I had no regrets once we got in. The atmosphere was great, we stood for the duration and it was all capped off with a Thistle victory. The Paisley boys all loved it, the standing, the singing, the banter and they were interested to see if such a move would or could happen at NSMP. They said it brought back memories of the old North Bank at Love Street.

I think the one thistle boys have come up with a cracking idea here, the best part of going to the game for me was always the atmosphere and we've managed to bring that back.
