  1. We win when we want,

    We win when we want,

    We're Partick Thistle,

We win when we want :)

Great performance against the best team we've faced. I reckon we are playing the best football I've seen from any team in div 1 for.....ever?

Could have been four but a win is a win.

Bring on the Cowden family :)

Lawless was best of a good bunch. Christie put in a shift and can only benefit from game time.

Thomson is a shit ref but he let Shug off with about 6 fouls before he booked him :)

    3, I was counting ;)

  2. Stevie Lawless, take a bow son, 2 fantastic goals with the first a magic 25 yarder and the 2nd a good finish after a great through ball from O'Donnell. Erskine had a good game without showing any real flare, Paton and Shuggy where in about it all game. Elliott led the line really well when he came on and deserves a lot of credit for that as he isn't the same type of player as Dools or Craig. Aaron Muirhead, what a signing...that guy has a big big future in the game. Livi by far the best team we've played so far and will likely be among the top 4.

Craig Thimpson, how did that guy get to grade 1 level? Every time I've seen him ref a game he's been bamboozling.

5 in a row, playing great football home and away, top of the league and going great guns. Long may it continue :)

  3.

nah - adoption of minutes from last meeting etc etc

but given that there's 300-400 members of the trust and Jackie was attending, was surprised by how few people were there- maybe needs publicised a wee bit better?

Ah but how many of those members have paid up for this year? They do the Meet The Manager on the same night as AGM so members who haven't paid will be enticed along and then get collared for their tenner. I'm not paying this year, the Jags Trust can piss of as far as I'm concerned now.

  4. attended the Jags Trust Meeting last night - AGM followed by a "Meet the Manager" session with Jackie Mac - Jackie was brilliant, spending an hour talking Thistle, First Division and Scotland(!)

Its was great to hear how he thinks the individual players have progressed and whats he's been working on with them, as well as his views on tactical formations and how they match up to other teams in the division.

He talks a lot of sense and wants football played the way it should be...unlike a certain Scotland manager.

Anything interesting come from the AGM part?

  5. I see this treead has descended into the usual Livi bashing that goes on on this forum.

To compare Livi to a real shithole like Airdrie is frankly laughable.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the all conquering Jags playing a short walk away from my house.

As one who lives in Airdrie (only part time these days thankfully) and who has worked in livi and been to several games at whatever their stadium is called these days...you are right to be indignant. It's fine lines tho Grant, livi has piss poor transport links but good(ish) amenities. It's the reverse with airdrie, but I'd imagine airdrie just wins in relation to which is the better of the 2 away days in a lesser of 2 evils kinda way ;)

I don't have a fear of kids, I just don't want to spend my Saturday afternoon having to give brats into trouble. Last season was awful, no atmosphere and just kids running around and screaming for 90 minutes. Sorry but I don't pay £17 so I can sit in a crèche. If some of the parents could control their kids that would be a start. If the kids want to through sweets then there is a kids section where they can sit and throw sweets till they are blue in the face. If a parent wants to give me into trouble for swearing whilst sitting in the city end then they should sit in the kids end. Sorry but as I have said I am 22 and I don't want to sit on a Saturday afternoon babysitting brats! I think it is perfectly reasonable to not want to sit amongst kids who cannot behave and parents who cannot control them.

I work hard and I look forward to Saturdays for football, I am young and I don't want or have kids yet, I don't see why I should pay my money and just put up with it!

I am sure they are plenty of people who agree with me but would rather not argue with people which is fair enough, I just get a bit bored all this "I want" attitude from parents.

The north stand is great I will carry on sitting there and I hope the police keep it over 16 only.

You got your kids section and your own wee singing section. If you are so jealous about the north stand - start a sing song. If there are so many dads here so desperate to get to sit with people who sing - why don't you all get together and start a wee sing song of your own? Why don't you teach your kids the words and get the Thistle ultras on their feet and singing? Would be a much better use of time and energy than complaining about the fact you bring your kids to the game so you can't sit with the adults.

    *Sigh*

  7. sorry if I'm being an agro bassa on here tonight (damn that Andy Murray; I'd hoped to be in my bed hours ago), but over the last couple of years there have been several posters on here who have argued that Paton was a "waste of a Jersey" and that he wasn't to "let the door hit his arse on the way out". A lot of pretty unpleasant stuff was posted, totally out of proportion to the faults that were sometimes evident in the young player.

Come on, you know who you are:

Care to man up, come back on... and apologise?

Yeah I was one of them although my comments were more constructive than you suggest. I told Paul to his face what I thought too and we had a fair doos chat about it. That was as a full back and I stand by my comments about him cutting into a left foot he couldn't use, or failing to beat his man and go to the byline, or swing an aimless ball into the box from 5 yards inside the oppositions half.

Since being switch to midfield the guy has been a revelation and has been our best player this season. I've told him he has been great and I said 'who knew you could be a midfield terrier?' His response? 'me :)'. Nice one, well done Paul Paton, hope you keep it up. Apologise for my comments? Nope, coz they were bang on at the time I made them...IMO of course ;)

  8. Regards U16 in North Stand the Police were concerned that The Green Brigade had a whole load of youngsters tagged onto it and didnt want to have to deal with this as they have across the City ,we were cut a lot of slack ,in turn we respected the Police concerns - we also have a very different Stewarding system where the North Stand is "self policed" - it would be impossible to do this with U16s present as a non parent cant speak to an U16.

In addition and this is very important - the aim is to have the away support squeezed by TWO singing sections from our Thistle Ultras and Thistle Futures Zones and the North Stand ,we know there is a lot of hard work to be done on this front ,its better not perfect ,simply better.

The actual solution is to have the U16 Zones as loud as the North Stand ,we have challanges as we are dealing with youngsters but going forward we will see how we can address these.

Now everyone PLEASE stop bickering - for those who have a short memory - two word DARREN BRADY - now we all have had reality check - calm doon :)

We have an ageing support ,to have a long term future we need younger fans ,kids go free is simply a loss leader - straight commercial decision ,nothing more ,nothing less - we have now issued over 400 U16 Season tickets target is 500 - we have data capture ,we are getting there- lots of work to be done ,but we are getting there

 Darren Brady...that made me laugh, bristling Stevie is aff his soap box :P

BTW anything I can help with re gettin the futures and ultras zones involved let me know. My kids are part timers for now, partly coz the wee shites canny be bothered sometimes and partly because I love it in the north stand, but will be in the kids zone a fair bit this season.

  9. What stand kids sit in is not my point here POTM, the cost of cup games for kids has been mentioned, agreed...but just because kids go free for league games doesn't mean parents can't complain about high cup prices. It also doesn't mean they 'moan about not getting everything their own way'. It doesn't mean they have to accept things they feel aggrieved about (rightly or wrongly) and it doesn't mean they have to have you at LMJ bang the same drum every time it's mentioned. What age were you when you first attended Firhill? Remember that feeling? Of course you do, that's way you're a Jags fan...back then you would have been seen as 'the future' and look, you are :).

So LMJ, your point is that you feel valued as a fan because you sit in a child free environment? Fair enough, I haven't challenge that point tho. I've challenged the fact you are constantly harping on about parents getting something you're not...and about you saying parents shouldnt complain as the kids get in for free. I know you know who I am, and you'll have seen me loving it in the north stand, you'll also not have seen me (I know, you're not interested enough to notice...bear with me :P). When I'm not in the north stand I'm in the futures section with my kids. When I go to away games I like a wee liquid refreshment, but don't do it when the kids are there. Why do I bother to make these (little) sacrifices? Because my kids get in free or because I want them to learn what it's like to be a Jag? Yes the children are the future (pure cheese maybe, but also pure true).

  10. I said 'a bit insulted' then the sensible part of my brain kicks in and I realise you just don't get it. Tell you what, show me. Where parents moan about not getting everything their own way. People are questioning why under 16s can't get in the north stand, making valid points, getting told the reason and for the most part accepting it.

I was a Whitney Houston fan for a spell, what can I say ;). If you really think the 'children are our future' argument is lame then it's no wonder you have this agenda. Thankfully people at the club, and fans who happen to be parents, have more foresight than you.

  11. Let's keep this nice and simple. I went along yesterday, didn't take my six year old, went into the North stand. It was great fun, but when said six year old comes with me a week on Saturday, we go to the jackie Husband. He's under 16, and Is therefore not allowed in the North stand. But, get this, he gets in for free and can sit pretty much anywhere he chooses. Moral: if you take an under 16 to the game, you can't go in with them to the North stand.

Next up: getting the moon on a f*cking stick: is it acheivable?

I do the same with my kids, feel the same about them getting in free (and the other benefits like the kids zone after games) and wouldn't take them in the north stand anyway. Fed up hearing the same crap from 2 posters and actually feel a bit insulted by the inference being put across by them.

My kids, and many others, will be Jags fans long after I'm gone...and the only thing the kids go free initiative has done is made me bring them to games earlier in their lives. In truth, they are a bit too young to appreciate the game, but they get the fact they are thistle fans at 7 years old even tho they can't watch them on tv as often as their pals watch their team. LMJ and POTM should remember that and recognise that, in a stadium that's about a quarter full every week, that the club wins long term while guys like me win now and in the future. Doesn't mean parents should shut up and do as they're told.

  12. Then respond to the complaint/question/suggestion if you must but don't twist it to suit your agenda. Btw you're coming across as a bit of a kid yourself here, laughing at a minor inaccuracy in a guys English then saying 'I'll stop when they stop'.

Was gona get my kids to go up to LMJ at Dunfermline (outside the boozer after the game) and say 'we love you Miss Hanighan!' Thought twice about it tho, not sure the humour would have been appreciated.

  13. LMJ and POTM give it a rest with the agenda eh...it's starting to get really really boring. I get your point, we all do, but stop twisting every discussion re kids into this 'out to get something for nothing' garbage.

For what it's worth, I'd advocate a 12/15 year olds provided they were accompanied by an adult (my kids are 7 btw so I have no personal agenda here). Doesn't matter tho as the police have set a stipulation and I think we'd all prefer the status quo rather than what it was like for the best 3 years at least.

  14. No, not yet. If they had, today's game would not have stayed at 3-0 (even although, admittedly, a clear penalty claim was turned down) nor would Raith Rovers have been allowed to get close to a scoring position close to full-time, nor would O'Donnell have reacted to being struck in the face. A side with a real killer instinct prefers to take its revenge cold.

Despite all that, we still won 3-0 ;)

2nd game in a row where we haven't really got out of 3rd gear but still scored 7 goals with no reply. A team is gona take a real doing off us soon. We have a very young team, including management and coaching staff, so there will be the odd thing which might be deemed as unbecoming. I like the fact people like O'Donnell and Paton will get in the faces of opponents, at times it's needed.

As for Erskine, is he more Dennis McQuade than Dennis McQuade? Sublime and ridiculous in equal measure

  15. Not sure if it falls within onethistle's remit but I have noticed over the last couple of home games that the first thing people see as they go up the South Drive is overflowing wheelie bins, bin bags lying around, etc. It does not create a good first impression and added to the unsightly bing brings down the overall appearance of the stadium.

On a similar subject, where's the rusty coloured sludge on Firhill Rd between the shop and the aitken suite coming from? It's horrid and getting dragged through the foyer.
