  1. Like many Bobby was my first real hero (with the exception of Kenny Watson, what a time to be introduced to the jags)

I played right back as a kid and I was Bobby.

Down at kilbowie I got to meet Bobby and get my photo taken with him. Bobby asked me what the score would be and I said 2-1 Jags.

We got hammered 7-1 I think.

    Well deserved Bobby

    Are you Bryan Greig?

  2. I'm the same.

A mate of mine brought up the idea of Greaves releasing the 71' away top next year commemorating 40 years since the League Cup win, similar to what they done with the Centenary strip.

I think it would be a great idea and seller which would just as popular as the Centenary strip has been so far. I remember they did make the 71' home and away tops back in 96/97 season (25th anniversary) but I was too young at the time to have got one my size now.

I'd see it as an opportunity missed to be honest.

    That's a good idea ...

  3. What he said, and the chap afore.

I've cancelled Sky as I was sick of myself for watching junk games that just washed over me. I could watch games and not actually notice who had played well etc. And as for the pundits.......

Football is about to eat itself.

Thousands of empty seats at most Premiership grounds this weekend again I notice.

PS I'll be getting Sky back as soon as the Ashes starts though.

    :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

  4. The other branch is to kick all of that away and rebuild from the ground up, with a modern perspective, PR led, smoke and mirrors, bright, shiny and evangelistic. That looks to be impossible to deliver from within the Trust, which is why I have resigned.

If there are potential converts to this new way, then make yourselves known, send me a PM with your e mail, make a commitment to actually do stuff rather than talk about it and we can maybe see how it pans out.

    Ready and willing.

  5. Brilliant news, thoroughly deserved. A master at heading the ball off the line, does anyone else remember that? Love the line about hime running towards the fans.

PS. You can't beat selective editing: "the Thistle support quite often split between those that loved Bobby and those that were less keen" ...

  6. Off the back of this, if I had the choice I wouldn't go and give them my £19.

Will they boycott Forthbank after Stirling Albion donated money from their own Trust funds to Dundee's cause?

    Jokers.

PS. I hope they survive - but I can't sympathise / empathise with that policy.

  7. Rarely post on matters Jags Trust, however, I'm really disappointed it has come to this though fully understanding of the decisions.

Thanks to three absolute gentlemen for their considerable efforts over the last 18 months without which both Trust and club would have been a far poorer place.

My JT membership had expired and it was only last week I'd mentioned to Tom about rejoining - but now the only three reasons for me to do so have gone.

Enjoy being "just" fans, David, Graeme and Tom and thanks again.

  8. BBC Scotland did ask me to take part in this phone in.

I declined, too busy at work and also I have said I wanted to move on from the incident last Saturday. I feel if I had taken part I could have reopened wounds and been seen to try to gain out of the situation. That's something I do not want to do.

    Best wishes to Karen.

Think that was the right decision - thanks for posting.

  9. Between 9am and 10am this morning there will be a discussion on the above show about fans' behaviour at football matches.

One participant in the discussion will be my dear sister, a fellow Jags fan.

    Good luck Karen.

Edit to add important point - huge thanks to the Jags Trust for setting this up.

  10. Care to expand?

Just an observation, not a criticism.

Glasgow City train five nights a week for up to three hours - by my calculation/knowledge that's more weekly training than most Scottish senior football clubs.

I'm sure it's just a case that they need it more, don't you?

Just found their dedication quite impressive when I was told - they also pay to play.

  11. Apologies for bringing this to the surface again, but I've reviewed my posts and realised that I probably did get sidetracked from the main issues - that of Lenny's daughter's distress - by continuing to argue my point.

I maintain there's a discussion to be had, but acknowledge that it should have been one for another day not in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

In that respect, and pushing the blame game to one side, I'd like to offer an apology to Lenny and his father and by extension his daughter and would urge them to continue to turn out for the team.

We're in a rut and need the support of all to pull us out of it.

And I really hope the club have picked up on the suggestion of a family day for Lenny and his family. I think it's a fantastic idea and one that would prove the perfect antidote to what occurred at the weekend.

One of the best posts made in a while - 100% respect for anyone who is big enough to apologise and qualify his thoughts.

    More power to your pen.
