I can hardly believe I'm reading this. The guy scored and had two assists on Saturday, his pass to McMillan perfectly weighted. He scored a goal the previous week that saw him carry the ball from 10 yards inside our half. Against Airdrie, many who were there credited his appearance from the bench for changing the game for us. I could go on. In fact I will: his equaliser against Airdrie back in December. His 25 yard volleyed winner against Airdrie at Firhill. His goals against Raith in the ramsdens game at Firhill.... He has been our most influential player by a stretch. For years I've been coming to Thistle games and seeing midfielders take the ball with their back to goal and either pass it sideways or backwards. Erskine turns with it and makes things happen. If Archie can sign someone better than him, I simply can't wait till he plays for us!
I'd just ignore peagreenboy. All his delusional hand wringng has shown him up to be unfit for forum life. Its time for him to find another hobby like collecting stamps.

Captain Superfan emerges yet again. Football fans goad each other? Shocking if true.
Oh and you didn't recognise any of them? Good point, we don't need new or lapsed fans.

5,663 is well above what the club would have budgeted for at the start of the season.
Well duh, it was obviously going to be better than your run of the mill game, but when comparing it to the crowd we got last time we got the trophy, and other champions of a so called comparable size the last 10 years (St. Mirren, St. Johnstone, Dunfermline) its low.
-
Crowd was quite poor, but honestly, all these recent big games have skint me and I'd imagine others are the same.

Aye a Premiership or a Championship club or even one of Portsmouth's stature is going to play a home friendly against a wee diddy team from Scotland...

An amazing night in the S&G. Cemented itself for me as the premier thistle pub. The barstaff deserve a huge amount of credit working as they did considering how mobbed it was.
Maybe not the time for a negative comment, but the Woody isn't what it used to be. Dropped in for one on the way home. The burd who seems to be running the place has nae manners at all. First of all at the Morton game screaming like a banshee at punters for singing, and last night as rude as ever, she basically barged me to the side with no prior warning or apology to get through a crowd of people and I knocked some poor guys pint over. Don't know if I'll be back there.

Who gives a shoite if its got a reputation for being a scummy grab a granny haunt, it'll be a Thistle shop for the night.

Cardle is the most overrated player in Scotland. McCall hit the nail on the head, he played the game of his life that day he scored a hat-trick and would never repeat it.

Mensing is an ageing hatchet man who has found his level, definitely not what is required even as squad depth.

Daniel Carmichael is a very good player. I found it surprising he re-signed there last year after the relegation and with the way things have went and are looking for Queens as well as being from Dumfries I'd imagine he'll stay there. Shame Ziggy Gordon is under contract too. I quite like Archie Campbell but he has been off the boil big time after coming back from injury. May is definitely worth a look although I suspect he'll remain at St. Johnstone. Hes done very well as a lone striker in a piss poor team.
I agree with DP that there is pretty much nobody in this league I'd be chomping at the bit to sign that will be out of contract, but I don't think we can afford to be too loyal as well. County pushed on after replacing a lot of deadwood with the likes of Ikonomou, Wohlfarth and Sproule and Dunfermline were found out keeping a load of their 1st standard journeymen around. Theres a few players currently under contract I have doubts about their ability, but at least they have age on their side.
I think we need a couple of dirty ***** in the middle, Kettlewell for instance? The current midfield that has started the last few games would get steamrollered on a weekly basis.
-
Doubled their wages and three year contracts.
Can't really blame them......
Thanks for the good times, lads.
Its disgusting isn't it? How dare they.

The first club in the top flight to offer free entry to under 16s if sponsors continue to cover the costs of it is a PR goldmine.

Song writing isn't your strength, I'd stick to digging roads instead.

Kurt Cobain hacked the old ptfc.net and harrywraggs sites did he not? I always remember his Tommy Bryce avatar.

Thick hoops or stripes. Don't care about the shorts, hooped socks.
Only strip I've bought the last few years was the black Macb away top, think I'll get a new 'un next year. Hopefully out early doors for holiday time...

Considering how the Jags Trust died on its arse, the supporters federation thing is something I like.

******* hell, BNP!? A couple of the boys there aren't even white ffs, I've heard it all now to satisfy a deluded agenda. No doubt this person probably brags to his mates how welcoming and politically free PTFC is compared to the big bad bigoted Old Firm.

Ah give it a rest, petal. Nobody was hurt, it was heat of the moment, sheer joy and a goal we never expected in a big game. Tuck your ***** back in and pop back off to your byres road wine bar to finish your corona.

The pitch invasion was completely moronic. It shows our club in a bad light.
I, and many others, managed to go off our heads when we scored, yet somehow managed to stay on the right side of the barrier.
Must mean I'm a *****. Still, rather that than an attention seeker.
I'd say it shows how much passion we've got. The Queens fans could barely be arsed putting their soup flasks, rattles and tartan rugs down to applaud the team for winning the cup.

Would you soft ***** moaning about the pitch invasion give it a rest? ******* hell, bunch of pussies.

As I predicted beforehand on here, the midfield was far too lightweight. I just don't see it in Sean Welsh, he is incredibly wasteful with the ball and Craigen just seems to run about like a headless chicken with no direction. Same midfield on Wednesday and Morton will run all over us. Its also no coincidence the wingers were utterly anonymous as nobody was winning tackles and doing the neccessary dirty work to allow them to play. The fullbacks were also woeful and no idea why Craig was suddenly starting again. O'Donnell needs benched, hes done absolutely nothing since returning from injury, and was at fault for the goal. Bring in Dowie and McMillan. Get Craig back to the bench as well. Big test of Archie's character to see if he has the balls to bench players who have been here all season in favour of two guys who have just showed up. We need to be more streetwise and not allow anymore shite to result to in red cards and the like, being such a young team is a problem in that sort of area.
Oh by the way I'm surprised Fox even saved one penalty.

Fcuk the mercenary and all the soft cants who rush to his defence.

If it's good enough for the 1st Division on most occasions, it's good enough to play a 2nd division team. Granted a good 2nd division team, but it's practically the same squad that finished bottom last season, they're not world beaters.
The occasions that trio have played together or add in Forbes in place of them we've struggled to get a foothold in the game. Twice, versus Dumbarton and Raith during the week and we scraped by against Cowdenbeath, as opposed to days prior we cruised to a 3-0 win with Paton in the squad against the same team.
The like of Derek Young and Lyle are no concern to me, Thistle rejects who have found their level banging in goals against pub teams, however when thinking about ourselves the likely centre midfield is where we are clearly our most vulnerable.

Its fantastic. It redistributes finance to the second tier, it brings in the play-offs which have proven to be successful in generating competitive football, excitement and large attendances. Maintaining full-time football should no longer be a problem for the established second tier clubs. Anyone picking faults is nitpicking in the face of the evidence at hand.
A great day and this will finally put the ridiculous 16 team league nonsense to bed. Now we can forget the reconstruction bollocks and talk football.
