  1. don't post here much but this makes my blood boil, I fully endorse a tannadice boycott....in fact id happily just send my admission fee directly to thistle and miss the match, hope more get on board with this

Yeah I'm in for that. Me and the Mrs x 2 trips to Tannadice boycotted next season, donate the saved admission of £100 or so to Thistle. Liking this.

  2. Dreadful game & performance - endlessly punting the ball for Queens' central defenders to head clear, failing to move the ball quickly enough and repeatedly passing behind the man. Lawless couldn't keep his feet, Erskine was fairly anonymous and Welsh uncertain. I'm not a huge fan of Balatoni but I thought he was our best player...only Fox and maybe Bannigan played to form. We were crying out for someone to hold the ball and make passes...and take a decent corner - Forbes should have been on about 30 minutes earlier.

Queens were not as good a side as I expected but deserved to win...they seemed to have three men on O'Donnell and Sinclair every time they got the ball and choked off our attacks - first shot at goal was after about 87 minutes. The last five minutes of extra time were a bit exciting though.

I'm far more disappointed about how poorly we played than that we didn't win...such a shame that so many Jags fans came to watch the team's worst performance of the season by a very considerable distance.

Our support was fantastic throughout particularly when we had so little to cheer - although the mini pitch invasion was a bit stupid. "We're Partick Thistle...we score when we want" for our last second equaliser was brilliant.

Agree with this. Tactically we got it wrong today playing a long ball game. We failed to play our passing game until the last 5 mins, we looked static and too many of the players had an off day.

Hopefully we will see a positive reaction and a better team performance on Weds.

  3. Dumbarton simply didn't allow us to play football today, however, they ran out of steam after about 70-75 minutes and we capitalised scoring two more goals. Lawless's second was yet another peach! Really impressed with Dumbarton's 9 and 11 (Fleming and MacDougall) and Winters still has a really nice touch even if he isn't as dangerous in front of goal these days.

The passing was off today but when we did get it right, we could have a couple more early on that would have made the rest of the game a lot easier. I'd have gave James Craigen MOTM today. Thought he done really well. Seemed to me that after Forbes went off, Bannigan and Welsh swapped roles and we were much more effective. Surprised at the bench to day with 3 forwards on it and no recognised midfielders, especially with only one out and out forward on the pitch. Elliott came on and played his best game for Thistle since his first couple of games last season. Nice run and setup for Doolan's goal. Doolan looked dangerous throughout his short appearance and even in the little time he was on the park, McGuigan caused the big Dumbarton defence some new problems. Nice use of the Subs Archie.

Agree with much of that. Good team Dumbarton and they might have been 2-1 up at one stage. Well done Jags another great result and another clean sheet.

Could go two ways, i think.

Either they expunge their record and we lose the 9 points we got,(cant remember what Morton got), or they let the records stand and award every opponent due to play them a 3-0 victory.

i GENUINELY HOPE THEY SURVIVE. BUT IT LOOKS BLEAK.

Morton have taken 7 points from their 3 league games. So we'd be worse off by 2 points if the Pars' record is expunged.

  5.

    Nonsense.

We are insignificant in all of this. In 2013, DUFC are a bigger platform than PTFC are. And therein lies the reason why Jackie walked.

We'll agree to differ. Clearly though the board feel insulted, hence the tone of the statement in relation to the events of the last few days.

  6.

Doesn't matter what they have earned in their previous lives. That's immaterial. Who decides when you've earned enough to live on in your job? Your wife? Your mother? Your acoountant?

They didn't sign their lives away when they signed up to be manager and assistant of the Jags.

They've done a great job for us, but unfortunately, Houston is a c*** choosing to go when he did. That's our bad luck.

Get over it and be thankful for the most adventurous Jags football since Davie McParland was in charge.

Many Thanks Jackie and Sid for giving the thrills back to Firhill.

Good luck to you both in the future.

The point I'm making is they didn't leave for financial reasons. In a recent interview in the Scotsman (?) Jackie indicated he was half way trough a 3 year plan to get us to SPL. The board, from, the statement, didn't expect him to dump us part way through the season when the league and a cup are very winnable. No one would begrudge him and Sid the chance to progress. The timing is an insult to PTFC.

  7.

Its not about honour or decency its about money, Jackie has bills to pay, any manager in the First Division would have done the same, last year many people wanted him sacked, give the guy a break and wish him the best for the future, time to move on and get over it!

One total certainty is that after long and successful playing careers at the highest level neither jack nor Sid would have any worries about paying bills even if they'd stayed at Thistle and got paid hee haw for ever and a day. Basically they have jumped ship at the absolute first opportunity. That says everything to me about what they think of our club. I notice in the clubs' announcement regarding Archie and Scott Paterson there is not a word of thanks to Jackie or Sid, only words about bitter disappointment. I 'm with the club there. They've let everyone associated with PTFC down. Bye bye both of you.

  8. Would like to think that Jackie would decide to see if he can win a league and a cup with us this season. I can't imagine the higher salary on offer would be an immediate deciding factor for him plus DU are cutting playing budget, while if we get to SPL our budget should increase. If he achieves trophies with us this season and does ok next season I'm sure clubs bigger than DU will be knocking at the door for him in the very near future.

  9. Shakey at the back at times, don't look as solid without Shuggie and Archie but cracking entertainment, rather that than a 1-0 win. Some brilliant goals, especially Queens first and our fourth.

Great entertainment. Some excellent goals. Tremendous character from the Jags to fight back to win it in the last minute.
