  1. Huge result tonight. 6 points ahead of Killie with still 3 games in hand should hopefully give the team a chance to relax and push for the top 6. The games in hand are tough ones but no reason why we can't pick up a few points. 4 wins in a row versus St Johnstone is a top effort.

  2. We have 10 games to play between now and the 1st game of the split which is 23rd April - so 2 full months. There are 8 Saturdays not counting today. There are no top league games scheduled for 5th March or 26th March. Let's get the Aberdeen and Hearts games rearranged for those dates. That wouldn't make it too strenuous for the players.

The 26th is an international weekend so that's unlikely. Both Hearts & Aberdeen will have players on international duty.

  3. Of all the young loan players we've had over the years he was probably the one that most embraced the chance to play and further their football education. The other obvious one is Graeme Dorrans. Both showed an exemplary attitude while at Firhill and I don't think it's any coincidence those are the 2 that have gone on to play at the highest level, while others that played like Thistle were beneath them have drifted into obscurity.

Wilkinson was the perfect example that attitude is just as important than talent.

  4. Did a good job at Huddersfield, not so good at Birmingham. Can't judge him on his time at Blackpool as the club was a complete mess. You've got to suspect he knows absolutely nothing about Scottish football so it's likely he'll be relying on McCulloch a lot at first.

  5. Hearts have fecked up royally here. It's quite obvious an inspection should have been called for earlier in the day. If I was already travelling I'd be dropping a note to Mrs Budge asking for a reimbursement.

Just got a message from a Hearts supporting mate who was in hospitality. Says the pitch is soaking and looks unplayable but they'd been there for a while before they heard there was an inspection going on.

  6. Surprised to say the least. I live in Roseburn, 5 minutes from Tynecastle and while it's been persistently wet all morning it's never been heavy rain. Hearts tweeted a couple of hours ago saying there were no problems and the game was very much on, so sounds like a dubious decision, I assume, by the ref.

As I type it is still drizzling, but it's brightening up and the forecast is for it to stop raining soon and be dry the rest of the day.

Looks like the forecast was wrong. It's now got a lot duller again and there's sleet falling, although still not heavy.

  8. Even after 24 hours of being able to study the footage, there is no consensus. Shows what a waste of **** time video referees are.

Lets let the refs get on with it and get off their backs. I will bet that in every game, each player will make as many errors as the ref.

You'd put a time limit on a video ref and if it's not an obvious mistake you stick with the original decision. The video ref would be more useful for correcting bad offside decisions. Those are the ones that annoy me. Virtually every game you watch on TV the flag goes up and within seconds you know it was a wrong decision. Impossible for the linesman to be watching 2 places at the same time so understandable they get some wrong. We've got the technology so let's help them out.

  9. Amidst the understandable euphoria at our current run of results - and long may it continue - I see that the BBC records us as having one shot on target yesterday. Only one shot on target last week at Tannadice too. I know Dools hit the bar twice yesterday, but is the lack of shots on target something to worry about?

I wouldn't pay much attention to the stats on BBC, they're usually wrong. Don't know who provides them. Just watched the highlights and there were 3 attempts on target shown. Lawless volley in the 1st half, Doolan's 2nd header was tipped on to the bar by Fox and Amoo flicked a header straight at Fox after Osman won a header from a late corner.

  10. Doolan makes "our system" work. He moves defenders, holds ball up when played to feet and creates space for others. By far our best forward. Lyle Taylor offered more physical presence but again was mobile. Paul Pogba is like the French Mark Yardley.

    Doolan up front.

Then 3 of these behind him interchanging. Lawless/Amoo/Stevo/Muirhead I still think Srevenson can add something to the team. Where was his best position at Hearts?

Then Osman and Bannigan as "holding" midfielders.

If only it was Paul Pogba! Sadly his brother is one of the worst strikers I've seen in a Thistle shirt, and I've seen some bad ones. He's been terrible the last 2 weeks, despite the goal against Accies. Amoo and Booth put in 3 or 4 cracking crosses in the 1st half yesterday and he was nowhere near any of them. He doesn't appear to have any striking instincts and his lack of mobility only makes it worse. He's 6 ft 4 but wins very few headers because he rarely gets off the ground.

Doolan's proved the last 2 years that he can score goals at this level and he must be sitting on the bench in disbelief at who's playing ahead of him.

  11. On watching the video Finnie's view of the handball may have been obscured by Osman. I can't believe any ref would have allowed that to have stood had he seen it. Decided the game as far as I'm concerned. I have no doubt that Aberdeen are a better side than Thistle but they didn't show it yesterday. The first half was a non event, but we'd started the second well before their goal. It really rocked us and the next 10 minutes Aberdeen were well on top and capitalised with the 2nd goal.

The sponsors choice of McDaid as man of the match was laughable. The boy had a poor, poor game. Don't remember him going past his man once, his positional sense was poor and he was at fault at both goals. He's shown flashes of ability in other games but he's going to a need a lot of coaching to turn him into a player.

  12. Hoping this comment is under the influence. Amoo is clearly unable to play on the left being so right footed. If someone is not able to play out of position then move him to his preferred position

Our F*$kwit of a manager couldn't see this even up until the point he was substituted. Quite possibly the reason we were so ineffective and ultimately lost the game so cheaply.

Having right footed players on the left wing and vice versa is the current fad in the game. I'm not a fan but it's not just Archie using this tactic, managers all over are doing it.

  13. Could have sworn Osman's header from the late corner and Doolan's follow up were both on target, but too little, too late by then anyway. Poor performance by the team and team selection was wrong I reckon. May have been dictated by the injuries Lawless and Osman had in the week, but Fraser looked lost wide right. He pinged a couple of great cross field balls but other than that couldn't get in to the game.

Why does Amoo not have the confidence to run at defenders? The one time he ran at Paterson he skinned him, then never tried it again. McDaid caused more problems in the short time he was on the park. Should be given a start against Falkirk.

  14. Higgys elbow was a disgrace, I take it he will be punished retrospectively as it was deliberate, dangerous and nowhere near the ball. It will be good to see some consistent actions by officials after games. I'm not sure if the club need to complain or if they just view the incident and think WTF, how is he still on the park?

My confidence in Scottish football might be misplaced tho. Also it's a real shame higgy turned out to be like that, I always thought of him as a footballer.

Not part of the BBC online highlights so doubt it will be mentioned on Sportscene.

  15.

Think TAG was set up until the end of June for the 14/15 season, but I renewed my season ticket last week and I'm barred from seeing the video when I log into TAG.

I'll e-mail the club about it in the morning, maybe they've not updated the records yet.

I renewed a few weeks ago too, so does sound like they've not updated it yet.

  16. agreed, I saw them tonight, players & manager singing & dancing with the fans, you would think they had just won the league or cup. I was on holiday & missed Peterhead, but surely we never had celebrations like that, or did we?

Difference is we were celebrating promotion, while Motherwell were celebrating avoiding relegation.

  17. Went along today. Had a ticket amongst the Caley "fans". Given the total lack of singing I reckon there were a lot of other neutrals and a lot of Inverness folk who'd never been to a game of football before. Falkirk fans were great though. Gave their team great support.

First half was pretty anaemic. ICT passed the ball nicely and deserved to be ahead at half time. Really well worked goal. Falkirk gave it a right go in the 2nd half and when they equalised it looked like there would only be one winner. ICT's winner was a right sucker punch. Good counter attack though.

Really frustrating that we beat ICT 3 times in the league but put in one of our worst performances of the season in the cup game.

  18. Pat Nevin praised him :partyhat:

But then Nevin also thought Craig Thomson was right in giving Muirhead a yellow card for handling the ball behind the line at Inverness's first goal! Nonsensical decision given the ball was dead.

  19. First of all, Kilmarnock deserved the win purely because we defended so badly at all 4 goals. However, that has to be one of the worst displays of refereeing I've seen in over 40 years of watching football. Beaton must still have been concussed from the headbutt in Saudi! Penalty outside the box, Connolly staying on the park despite committing at least 2 bookable offences after having been booked, the free kick that led to the 3rd goal after the Killie player stepped in front of Elliott and fell over, ignoring Magennis's headbutt on Hamill that happened right in front of him plus any number of other curious decisions. I hate moaning about refs after a game but that was just woeful.
