  1. Our boys are out fighting in afghanistan fighting the international arm of terrorism at the moment some of them thistle fans brave heroes. While our brave lads fight the terrorists in foreign lands. Here at the home front we're inviting them for friendlies and letting them sleep in the back door.People in this country need to get back the spirit of the falklands and dunkirk to ward off the threat at home from the evil of the ira and the mayhem they intend to cause with bombs and bullets.

Something i can sure we can all argee on is totally unacceptable and a return to NI's dark past which isn't needed or wanted by the vast majority of peacefull people on both sides

It's scandalous. On the 16th of july we need the full spirit of the british bulldog at firhill to show the terrorists and there sympathizers. We'll never surrender to terror of any kind.Every single thistle player in the game should wear a poppy with the date of the battle of the somme above there chest.Donate the away gate receipts to the British legion

Lets Show them we're not ashamed to be british in our own country.

  2. In about them thistle :thumbsup2: give terry hurlock and jimmy case/kevin muscat(chance to redeem himself for previous sins)/jimmy gibson a wee run out about kick them off the park. There our joint biggest rival/derby/the enemy game and it should be treated as such.150 percent from every player on the park be like men possessed hunt them in packs get in about HARD.Need a bit of the old wimbledon crazy gang spirit or what millwall/airdrie/leeds have had in the past and our fans should make sure they get the right welcome.Big win bonus if the boys do the bizz.Massive Game.We should come out gurning like popeye in there faces or doing the haka.Get the red arrows over head aswell.Mo johnstone as half time guest.Carnival atmosphere

wonder if we'll see any union jacks at the game

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrrIuDJbGQ0

  3. He's worth 500k easy.75k is a joke.JP mcbride is worth more than that.Look at some of those hibs players scott brown thompson whittaker ect there not 20 times the player erskine. So why should we get 20 times less money.500k is fair anyless and we've been robbed

  4. I'm all for Jags fans continuing to show their opposition to bigotry and racism through songs and possibly flags and banners

Could be one for gus and the briggs boys...

i am sure a couple 100 white blokes in there 40's singing this on a cold winters day in Arbroath and forfar could change sectairnism/racism in scotland..infact i am shocked we hadn't thought of it before
  5. Sorry but how exactly is Thistle open to all if we accept elements in our support who are extreme right wing and are exactly opposed to welcoming everyone in alls walks of life!? Load of blinkered nonsense.

If we're a club against bigotry and sectarianism, "the Great Glasgow Alternative", then we need to reject these reprobates as much as we need to reject the OF... regardless of whether it annoys people that it is a "political stance"...

because everyone politics is there own and private and not worn on there sleeve. So we can all go exist. We've got a long fine at firhill and had no poltical problems so what needs to change ? We've got all got red and yellow on so we can merge as one.Politics doesn't matter.Hand on heart i've never thought about the politics of the guy who sits next to me at firhill..out of all the things this club need a poltical witch hunt isn't one of them

Should we make far right people sit at the city end/far left towards to the away support and divide the middle with a barrier btw scottish nationalists and unionists since they obviously can't co exist

This thread has already proved. This idea could never work.It would only cause more problems.

They bring this thread up every few months. They need to accept thistle isn't going to turn into a mini celtic with what the green brigade have or st pauli or something u see from europe on youtube which might see vaguely cool where the whole stadium looks like it's on fire or something from argentina/italy.Where u have crazy ultras who always usally have a political stance to there banners and scarfs n the like

These people need to get real. We're lucky if we can stand up at dens park or mcdairmid park nevermind anything esle

  6.

If anybody wants to do something about this then count me in. If you don't fancy it then feel free to stay out of it. That's your equal right, and well respected.

Not really tho.Since if you do something it reflects on everyone at the club and the fans.if u do something like this it should have mass support. Our name and collect identity should belong to our fans not a handfull of extremists who want to go do there own thing ie raise loyalist or republican banners.

If the players run out and other teams fans see a flag of bobby sands or johnny adair. It's naive to think thats gonna be viewed as just the thoughts of those people flying it and not a reflection of the wider club

There's plenty of people at hearts who hate the union jack brigade but it doesn't stop hearts as a whole being tarred with it and called mini h*ns and this would be the same

  7. ha, well i don't disagree with everything you say BB.

Ultras atmosphere applied here doesn't work, it sounds contrived and to be quite frank its pish. was at the glasgow cup final there at parkhead a couple of weeks ago with my daughter (free tickets from school deal) and the sounds of that GB mob sounded like a school chant.

nevertheless, its understandable that any atmosphere has to be 'contrived' in the context of over zealous policing, allocated seating, etc etc

as for football being a working class issue, it is precisely because of the issue of class that i think there should be a political dimension to a fan base. the fact that the cost to go to a football game has grown so exponentially over the years has meant that most people are priced out of going to football. At partick thistle, it seems that we have a progressive concessions policy whereby we admit people for being students but its most definately not progressive as it excludes other low income groups such as unemployed people, people on the sick, and of course working poor (ie people that have to get their wages topped up by working tax credits cause they are so shit). The very notion of having discounts for students and other such groups makes it, in a very rough sense a class issue and a notion of derserving and underserving poor.

There has also, as you have mentioned been an attack on the general culture within the game, and i for one am definitely not for the police, the club or any other top down way of attacking fan culture. I am MOST DEFINITELY against the promotion of a 'family atmosphere' or any other euphemisms for the sanitisation of terrace culture. I believe strongly in self policing.

That said, one does not have to be middle class to be a 'red' and there is no necessary correlation between being working class and far right stuff (not that im saying your saying that). With the rise of the EDL and SDL and its linking between some fans groups, it is entirely right for fans to organise against those trends arising within ones fanbase. This is not somethign new, this is not something top down from middle class lovies, this is somehting that has been going on in football for 30 years plus. For example, in the 80s there was a millwall branch of AFA.

    http://therebelbull.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/fans_miliwall011.gif?w=300&h=294

But whats that got to do with us.EDL are a bunch of thick twats but has ANYONE ever seen them near firhill or even heard of them with anything to do with thistle. They probably don't even know who we are. There just a covenant bogey man.Fair enough if they were handing out leaflets outside but there not and probably never will.If they do they'll get moved on by the police and it's not like many people will take there stuff. So it's not really worth wetting our pants about or spending years preparing and changing our support for

We need to get a good team on the pitch repair that unspoken link btw fans and club which seems to have been broken.Lower prices /put the heart back in the club by getting the old staff bk like campbell hughes ricky n chico and proper thistle people around the place and get bk to our roots by putting the fun swagger adventure and pride back in the club.Build up the away support again with the old supporter buses. We need a fearless attitude that allows to get in about the big boys and show them no respect. We need to get back what we had.Being a self styled team of the progressive left and European style ultras won't work cause thats further away than ever from the team we all know and love

We tried going down the st pauli brand route with pink strips.Novelty vaule attract alternative fans and it hasn't worked cause thats not who we are.

The bid to take over Partick Thistle has been called off for the time being. A consortium of Asian businessmen in Glasgow had hoped to secure a 51 per cent controlling share in the club, but have drawn back after their move sparked a furore.

The group have been shocked by reaction in the media and from the Partick chairman, Jim Oliver, who said on the club's telephone information service that he would not sell his shares to "an Indian who runs a curry shop"

Our name is already mud in these type of circles. You guys are living in cloud cukoo land

  8. Mini celtic by sleath ?

We already have anti bigtory and racism campaigns and the old firm are still the same. This whole thing kicked off with the hearts celtic game. What could thistle do to stop celtic fans singing ira and republican songs or hearts fans attacking neil lennon.

It won't do any good just a chance for a few right on types to appoint them selfs as so called fans leaders/get them selfs a nice title/a small budget for vague "community work" and gordon peden might came more custom on the north west bus

Cringe at these type of threads.Just seems to bring out all the reds under the bed who want to turn thistle into some kind of political freak show

I like supporting thistle cause lots of gd characters.Salt of the earth people from maryhill summerston whiteinch possil yoker clydebank thornwood drhumchapel partick scotstoun springburn ect the people are proper there not intrested in thistle becoming european style ultras or some self styled team of the progressive left.Who wants a bunch of middle class university lefties/luvvies supporting us.Firhill is rubbish now and it's partly cause firhill is so full of these people.

Away games are much better cause your around proper thistle people.I couldn't bear away games becoming full of hooray henry's.Not the thistle way cause we're a football team and when we we create an atmosphere we do it with our voices. Not drums not those crappy horns they had at the world cup not bouncing around like idiots ala wee group of falkirk diddies in the cup or Livingstons wee group of pube-less tadgers

Jackie Mac's red army Jackie Mac red army Jackie Mac red army..doesn't have a great ring to it

Think these people should go and support celtic. They've got the politics and ultras you so desire

  9. Dick campbell and lambie known for signing the sash

Still signing **** the pope in the hello hello song

    Fund raisers for oranage halls

    ground sharing with rangers

always do better at celtic park than ibrox

Our most important ever game was humping celtic

I guess most favour the h*ns.Have to say i could name a few orange men lodge/flute band members in our support.Couldn't name any Hibernian walk fellas.and to be fair there is more billys bills n williams than patricks declans and john paul's in our support if we're being utterly honest.More likely to see a union jack than a tri colour

  10. My bet it would be irish republicans unhappy over the land deal lennon was involed in which went wrong

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon will claim he is the victim of a £3million sting when he fights for his financial survival in court this week.

A pal told the News of the World that the Hoops boss insists he was stitched up when his signature was forged on bank documents guaranteeing a massive loan.

And this week that allegation will be at the heart of Lennon's defence case as he kicks off a mammoth court action - that could end with him facing financial ruin.

The fiery Ulsterman could lose his personal fortune if the Bank of Ireland wins its civil case against him in Dublin's High Court.

Last night our source said: "Neil's made a lot of money through football but there is an awful lot riding on this case. He has been stitched up here, pure and simple.

"Neil can't afford to lose this case - if he does, it could ruin him."

Land that was bought by Lennon and partners in Dundalk, Ireland Purchase... Bank claims Lennon guaranteed loan for the land in Dundalk

Lennon, 39, ploughed £580,000 of his own cash into a project which aimed to build and sell 61 houses on land at Knockbridge, near Dundalk, close to the Republic of Ireland's border with Northern Ireland.

A total of £3.5million was invested by Rocket Developments Ltd - set up by Lennon in 2005.

At first the footie ace had no idea his former Manchester City youth team colleague Julian Dowe, 35, was also involved in the deal.

But when the recession hit the Irish economy, demand for new homes slumped - and the value of the land plummeted.

Rocket Developments collapsed in 2009 without a single house being built on the muddy fields.

And the land is now back on the market for a mere £350,000.

The Dublin court case, which starts on Tuesday, centres on a Bank of Ireland claim that Lennon signed paperwork making him liable for a £2.7million loan to his company for the project.

But this is a claim the Parkhead gaffer vigorously denies.

Neil Lennon and Irene McCloy Hoopy... with Irene

And his hopes of being cleared of liability for the huge sum have been boosted by reports the Irish bank has lost the document they claim proves he guaranteed the loan.

Sources close to Lennon insist he is the innocent victim of a scam.

And his lawyers will fight to clear his name during the case, which is expected to last two weeks.

The Celtic legend has also hired one of Ireland's top barristers to recover the cash he invested.

His friend explained: "Neil is a smart guy and there's no way he'd have signed anything without knowing exactly what it meant.

"He was prepared to invest a fair bit of money into what seemed like a worthwhile business but he would never have contemplated getting in over his head.

"The implications of losing this case are extremely serious but there is no way he should be getting held responsible in the first place."

Bank of Ireland lawyers filed papers at Dublin Commercial Court last year claiming that Lennon had signed documents guaranteeing the loan at Dublin Airport in 2006.

Armagh border near Dundalk Investment... Dundalk countryside where Lennon bought land

They maintain they can prove the former Northern Ireland captain was at the air terminal on the day in question - as he had a free weekend because Celtic had been knocked out of the Scottish Cup.

The bank's main witness will be Colm McHugh, a senior business manager at their Dundalk branch. He claims Lennon was carrying his golf clubs when he arrived. He then signed the guarantee form at their office in the busy airport.

McHugh insists he told the Hoops hero that the document meant the bank was entitled to call on him to repay the loan if Rocket Developments was unable to clear the debt.

    Lennon denies the claims.

Dowe quit the board of Rocket Developments in January 2007.

He has vanished since the Bank of Ireland launched its court action and could not be contacted by the News of the World this week.

    ...

He and Lennon met when the pair were trainees at Manchester City in the late 1980s.

Dublin Airport, terminal 2 Air we go... deal was allegedly signed at Dublin airport

But whereas Lennon went on to achieve fame and fortune playing for Leicester City and Celtic, Dowe was plagued by injury throughout a career that saw him play in the lower leagues of England, Spain, Latvia and Scotland - where he played seven games for Ayr United between 1994 and 1995.

He retired in 2004 after spells with several non-league clubs. But in October 2006, Dowe's home was one of dozens of properties across Manchester seized by the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA).

The agency claimed that Dowe committed mortgage fraud to buy the property in 2005.

The raids were part of the largest- ever investigation into IRA money laundering and mortgage fraud.

It was launched following a probe into former Provisional IRA chief of staff Thomas "Slab" Murphy.

A raid on the South Armagh home of the feared terrorist boss found records detailing £11million of properties in the Manchester area.

The houses and flats were thought to be part of an intricate laundering operation linked to the IRA. Dowe's £230,000 home and the 35 other properties were confiscated in June 2009. The ARA - set up to seize the proceeds of crime - alleged in court papers that Dowe was an associate of Murphy, 66.

Lennon is a bigot.Thats all he knows and has grew up in.He should leave scottish football and take the bigotry he's stirred up with him.The green brigade aswell.Celtic's inward victim culture world is against us is what is stopping interrogation and creating the tension. When the h*ns signed a catholic ie mojo or neil McCann. They went nuts. They want the victim card and have as much vested intrested in keeping the bigoted system as rangers do

  11. Anything past and including falkirk are northern teuchters and edinburugh aswell.Anyone who refers to people from glasgow as weegies n says the word ken is a teuchter.Anything apart from west of scotland/bit of lothian

  12. It is a bit of a contradiction but I have a good feeling about Sheerin. He'll replace McInnes at St Johnstone when he leaves if nobody appoints him first.

I think even a season of management is a massive difference to stepping in like Jackie is.

Don't want a northener as manager.Remember dick campbell ?we're a glasgow team.Ideally our manager should always be from glasgow and if not from glasgow outside scotland or the uk rather than a northerner/teuchter

Thistle manager with a broad dundoian or aberdeen accent would be awful.Campbell and his fife tones were bad enough. We're a unique club need to history here to understand it.Northerners don't get it

  13. If Raith Rovers have won or win the league at Firhill, then all the best to them.

Thistle fans have had excellent away days including some pitch invasions at Inverness, Peterhead, Forfar, Stirling.

It's not about territory, it's about sport.

at the lower level ie forfar stirling peterhead.it's about sport but it's diffirent the higher up you go.The stakes are higher.Winning the premiership on someone esle's ground or the spl is diffirent from winning the southern conference or the 3rd division on someone esle's ground

There is a reason. We were not allowed a pitch invasion at st mirren while we had ones at peterhead forfar ect.

Gd luck to them ?Happy to have them ?Really

if it's all about sport and not pride. Why don't u throw out an open letter to spl teams asking which one would like to host the old firm title party this season.Surely on that logic there will be loads of takers no bitterness all about sport ?

Scottish Football League Championship First Division

Partick Thistle v Raith Rovers, 15:00

Picture the scene with nothing to play for.We get humped they out number us have a pitch invasion and hoist the league on our turf including grant murray Stephen Simmons(could bring out a real cigar to blow at us this time if we let him) ect enough to make any self respecting thistle fan sick. Our stadium would be besmirched.Raith rovers taking the micky raith fans in the home end taking over our pubs swanning around like they own the place showing no respect running there mouths in the week before on pie and bovril saying there gonna bring 10 thousand and the like.

It's a test of self respect/dignity if we let this happen. How proud are we of partick thistle.partick thistle 0-3 morton was brutal as was partick thistle 0-1 airdrie. This could be x10 worse. How will you feel if with 10 mins left your leaving and there winning 2-0 there all singing cheerio cheerio cheerio. You'd feel sick you get out the ground and you hear a roar and it's news from dunfermline that they've lost a goal and now it's all but confirmed raith as champions.Driving away in the car listening to radio scotland thinking what a bloody waste of time.I know that feeling. It's crap.I'd rather the day like partick thistle 1-0 clyde. They came with black arms ballons to take the micky but we beat them and showed them.no matter what happens today there a tinpot club and we're partick thistle. We beat them and in the years to come we've risen while they've slide down to the 3rd.Sweet :thumbsup2:

    DEFEND FIRHILL :thumbsup2:

The board should do something.Tell raith/the police under no circumstances/incitement to crowd trouble can they get the league on our pitch and get them to have the trophy presented back at starks park.Cut there allocation to just behind the goals. No welcome to there officals cold shoulder them all.But the board will do nowt to defend the club ever. They'll just sit back and let it happen

    So

the fans Peacefull end of season pitch invasion and sing song after the match. It's our family home not anyone esles. Why should we vacate it for a bunch of tubes who we've never liked.Stay on the pitch bring beachballs footballs big sidey flags firhill dance so raith can't get on after we've humped them gd and proper sent them home with there tails btw there legs.It would be even better if they lost the league at our place. Some day it would be

    DEFEND FIRHILL

ps in our wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partick_Thistle_F.C.#Support some tosser has put.

Thistle's traditional rivals are Clyde and more recently Airdrieonians/Airdrie United. The latter grew to greatest prominence during Thistle's promotion season in 2001–02, when the two sides were the main contenders for the Title, with Airdrie subsequently going bust and reforming owing to financial pressures at the time

I hope to god thats not written by a thistle fan. There's some proper loons in our support if clyde is suddenly our big rivals/derby game. Can't people see new breed are making us look a joke and not just with a few pink tops.NOT the thistle i know

  15. Sick.Still wish l was there though :( .We've got a bit of the arsenal about us.You always know you've got a chance cause we dont' close games out and we've got a soft centre.Twice qos have done that to us this season there. If i had been done there i probably would of ended up punching one of their lot that old duffer alan johnston  Sick of these no mark mugs getting anything from us.Toughen up thistle and have a bit more belief. We're 2 nice.

  16. If the boy's gonna brand people "horrible" and "loathsome" and have a pop at offensive songs then he can explain why he's chosen a murderer, and the subject of a highly distasteful ditty at that, as his avatar.

Harry roberts is our friend... :thumbsup2:

  17. Love marko but no way would he excite the fans.I mean come on he's a 2nd division player and at the end of his spell he was not cutting it.No idea why people think we should bring him bk in the team.Get him bk for a half time draw tho or a night.I'd love to hear some stories about his time with thistle what he thinks of the club ect :thumbsup2:
