  1. He refers to being owed circa 100,000 Euros by his old club that he is never likely to see.

If County or United are offering him big money then that is more likely to swing it than any sentimental feelings he has to Thistle.

I’d like to see him back but I wouldn’t break the bank to do it.

  2. Never reached the heights of previous seasons but he wasn't alone.

At Championship level we will struggle to find a better keeper on our budget.

Still, his aimless punts up the field won't be missed.

Good servant to the Jags but I'm sure we'll have someone lined up.

Looks like he waited to see what interest was out there before invoking his clause.

  3. Booth was average at best.

Part of a defence (when fit) that shipped goals for fun.

Some Thistle fans seem to have a habit of looking at ex players with the tinted specs on.

Anyway, Booth leaving gives Penrice a clear run at the left back position. Let’s see if he takes it, this is what the Academy is there for after all.

  4. I've never been a huge fan of signing ex players.

However, I think Paton would be an excellent signing for next season.

He was a very decent player at championship level and would give our midfield the dig that has been missing all season.

  5. Air of resignation around Firhill today.

First half I thought we were poor. We played better in the second half, actually played some nice stuff but we never really looked like scoring which has been our achilles heel all season.

The defending for the goal was laughable. It was so obvious what was about to happen, well to everyone in the stadium bar our players.

I lost count the amount of times we crossed the ball yet failed to find a Thistle player once.

The one time Booth laid it on a plate for Sammon, he merely stood and admired it rather than attack it.

I know we don't exactly help our strikers with our play but Sammon's lack of movement is shocking, even Boyd worked harder.

Best I think we can hope for is a playoff place.

Osman needs taken out that team, McCarthy was head and shoulders above him.

  6. Nice to read through the posts on this thread.

Things are tough at the minute but the lows are what make the highs so sweet (no matter how rare they are!)

That is something that an Old firm fan will never feel, something that sets fans of the smaller teams apart.

As someone else has already said, its what keeps you going back every week.

  7. Most points from the game already covered but I’m surprised to see Lawless getting some stick.

Thought he stuck to his task well and battled away.

McCarthy definitely has potential but needs to work on his fitness. Looked assured on the ball though.

Elliot’s fitness and performance was incredible considering it was his first game back.

  8. It says a lot about this team that once Dundee equalised, you knew what was coming. I’m pretty numb to it now it happens so often.

First half yesterday we played well, it’s the best possession football I’ve seen from us in a while. We just lacked that final cutting edge (as ever) mostly down to Dumbuya doing nothing with the freedom of Firhill he was given.

Storey slightly guilty as well, needs to lift his head more but had a good battle with Kerr. Taking him off was the wrong move, it allowed Kerr to start getting forward which in turn freed up other Dundee players.

Woods was excellent on the whole but spent the last 10mins of the first half limping, amazed he was kept on for the whole game.

Osman in my opinion was culpable for both goals. The first especially, I couldn’t believe he didn’t get that ball away, Sammon rightly hammered him for it.

On field and off field game management is costing us big time at the minute.

As others have said, it’s the same old mistakes we’re making that are killing us.

2 huge games coming up. I’d like to see Stevie Lawless back in the starting lineup, his tenacity and will to win is certainly missing from a lot of his team mates at the minute.

Not sure how Sammon got Motm, goal aside I thought that was one of the big mans poorer performances over the last month or so.

  9. From the highlights:

Nothing wrong with Ross County's goal; it should have stood. We got lucky there.

Barton is an excellent sweeper; he is by no means a midfielder.

They had a couple of free headers from corners.... again, we got away with it this time.

    Our second goal was excellent.

The Doolmeister... surely he'll hit double figures again this season.

Davies had the freedom of Firhill for a header in the first half, couldn't believe he put it wide.

Kelly's offside looked borderline from where I was sitting, as did the one at the end of the half where Cerny made a great save.

  10. Sammon was excellent today but I’d like to see him put in that kind of performance more often before rushing to sign him permenantly.

Looks like he could have a good partnership with Doolan though.

Barton is superb at sweeper, twice the player he is in midfield.

Not the best of games but nice to see us creating chances again.

I thought Spittal was very good, just needs to work on his final ball.

  11. Genuinely wouldn't have been surprised if Archie had subbed Storey off when Sammon was coming on.

Yep, I’m not sure I’ve seen a less effective performance from a sub for a long time.

Spittal gave him a bollocking near the end for his failure to keep hold of the ball.

His dive was shocking as well.

  12. Possession is nothing unless you do something meaningful with it.

Spurs had more possession than Man City in the first half yesterday but barely got out their half. Spent the whole time playing the ball across the back without going anywhere. Sound familiar?

Out of all the injured players I’d argue we’re missing Elliot, Booth and to a lesser extent Dumbuya (he’s never fit). We have no attacking options down the flanks without these guys which serious limits our ability to get in behind the opposition.

  13. I realise that Archie's options with regards to players at the moment are fairly limited but he surely can see that continually playing the same players and tactics are going to cost him his job?

Barton needs put back in to a back 3 pronto. His ability on the ball might help bring some calmness to the bombscare partnership that Divine and Keown have currenly struck up.

Woods/Fraser may not be fit enough yet but they must have at least an hour in them? That has to be better than watching Edwards and Barton try to play in there.

The buck ultimately stops with Archie and he knows this better than any of us, however, the players need to take a hard look at themselves.

Some of the level of effort and attitude on show has been shocking. They would put any manager under pressure showing the application they did yesterday.

  14. Looks like I might be in the minority but I quite enjoyed yesterday.

Wasn't a free flowing game but it was very evident that the team have grown in confidence over the last week.

I thought we got our tactics spot on, soaked up the little pressure they put on us and with a bit more composure we could have hurt them on the counter.

I've been critical of Edwards in the past but he was good yesterday. Hs first touch and awareness needs improving but he isn't alone in that respect. Storey makes great runs and his pace will hurt teams but he could do with lifting his head now and again to see where his team mates are.

Sammon won't score many goals but he's obviously been given a job to do by Archie and I can't fault his application.

Keown still looked a bit nervy with the ball at his feet but the defence on the whole was much improved.

Lawless was excellent again, stuck to his task throughout and was a clear MOTM in my opinion.

7 points out of 9 is a very good return.

Keep plugging away and fingers crossed by December we may start to see a few faces returning to strengthen the team.
