  1. My mate Paul now runs The Doublet and really wants to turn it into a very Partick Thistle friendly pub. I've given him a few pointers as how to go about it. Might take a wee while to establish. He doesn't get to games anymore. Anyhow, if you're in that neck of the woods pre or post match, pop in. He'd be happy to hear ideas. He's the Canadian guy, by the way. Used to front a band called Vera Cruise, who had a single out a few years back called "The Last Time Partick Thistle Won". Good guy!

  2. Was talking to an old pal tonight when he informed me that he was keen to get his kid to support Thistle before he got swayed to join the "dark side". The wee guys aunts and uncles all support Rangers and Celtic and my mate reckons it's only a matter of time before they buy him an old firm strip. Thing is, my mate doesn't have much cash but he's really keen to get the wee man a Jags top. The wee guy is 7.

So, i was wandering if any of you guys out there have a home top that one of your kids may have grown out of that you'd maybe like to donate to a future Jag. If so, could you PM me.

Cheers and thanks for your time.

  3. I never made the game tonight but a friend of mine - a Dundee Utd fan - said we played well and the score flattered Utd. The guy on the radio was going on about how well we were playing in the first half. I kinda feared the worst when i heard that. We need to bury teams at half time, like we should have with Hearts and Killie but didn't.

It'll come. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm glad that Elliot got a start tonight. Nice to hear that he had a good game.

  4. This is not true. The PA speakers will be wired to the PA output and therefor cannot act as a microphone. So the idea of the singing section being so loud that it comes out the speakers in the JHS is an impossibility. It is more likely because Lance came up The North Stand and put a microphone up there.

I was enjoying myself in The North Stand yesterday and Lance switched off the speakers there after the start of the game. No bad thing TBH because the volume of tinny, distorted noise coming out those pishy speakers was making my ears bleed. However, he forgot to switch them back on again at half-time. Couldn't hear the HT draw... Still, I'd rather that than the migraine induced noise torture we were subjected to pre-match.

Maybe the gain on the mic needs to be turned down a wee bit. Will help prevent the feedback and be less tinny. Mind you, the PA system they have there isn't the best to be honest but could be ajusted to sound better.

  5. It did lead to a good rendition of R&Y Army near the end of the game. Peeps in the Jackie Husband stand just don't ever want to sing it seems. I'll definitely be going into the shed for the next game, get some singing going :happy2:

I agree. I actually thought the atmosphere in the ground was great today. Full marks to the shed for the singing. I don't think it's a bad idea having a little bit of the atmosphere/singing coming through the speakers. Could sound a bit better in future but not a bad effort for a first attempt. Oh and by the way.....It's a PA system. Tannoy is a brand name!

It's amazing how torn faced some Thistle fans can be after a day like today. Always looking for something to complain about.

  6. "Unquestionably there are major financial consequences, for all Clubs in Scotland, should a newco Rangers club not take a place in next season’s SPL and there has been a proposal put in front of the SFL clubs that would allow Rangers direct entry into SFL1, contrary to the current league rules. On its own this proposal is clearly unacceptable, on a number of levels, and is something the Board of PTFC are not prepared to support."

Kinda sounds like they don't support Newco joining the First Division.

  7. Watched the forfar highlights a few times, my dad's got it on video, looked like a quality day

Any chance you could find some way of uploading it? Not seen it in years. I lost my copy. Best day ever! Too many stories to tell about that day. Some/most of them i don't even remember happening!!

  8. Yes, but it's a good example of the lack of heart in this team: the gulf in standards was obvious, but wasn't reflected in goals. Scoring just one in the second half, in particular, against part-time opposition that was tiring while facing a gale, is sub-standard. Bare pass marks.

We won. We're through to the next round. Dry yer eyes.
