  1. North Stand in particular seems down numbers wise, Beattie's antics last season the final straw for some?

I had a season ticket last season, I squeezed in the Aberdeen game last year before going to an event in the evening, one year on with no season ticket I didn't bother paying £22 to inconvenience myself. Next time I wake up in Edinburgh on a Saturday morning I won't be rushing back to Glasgow to see a game because I've already paid for it. You can see how the slippery slope begins.

And it's only £2 up but don't underestimate the fact it's now over £20 to get in.

  2. Norge is correct on a number of his points: eg belong to a Trade Union and its solicitors will represent you should you be a victim of unfair dismissal, or fall foul of an employer's desire to cause you detriment where the law protects you. Equally, it is a good and fair point that there are some first class Employment Law solicitors and barristers out working for firms such as Thompsons who only act on behalf of workers and their unions.

Fearchar is correct too about the raft of profoundly insidious changes to EL by this shower and which have resulted in a dramatic fall in the number of ET cases being lodged: £1,200 to have a case heard in the ETs; there is a fee remission system, but it only applies to claimants who have less than £3k in the bank or in the form of identifiable savings. Fact is, nowadays legal firms - including Thompsons - are probably working on an 85-90% threshold of likelihood of the case being successful before agreeing to take it on. The average settlement in winning cases is well below what many people think (don't have the exact figure to hand) and the upper limit has been reduced, meaning that probably only low paid footballers would stand to break even in a winning case; even then, contributory negligence can reduce awards to as low as zero payment.

We have the least favourable and most reactionary employment laws in Western Europe and Cameron & Clegg want to make them even worse.

And Labour changed none of the anti-union laws in their 13 years of power and offer nothing in the increasingly unlikely event they get a majority in 2015. Better Together indeed.

As for Sean Welsh, I've always thought he was over-rated by most Jags fans and I wouldn't have a fit Welsh in the starting XI against Ross County if he was available. Still, gotta treat the guy right.

  3. Am I right in thinking that free entry on the day of the match is being dropped? I am sure that was intimated in the discussion after the fans meeting last week where the stance of the North Stand guys was supported by many fans who sit in the JHS. Or did I make that up? Can someone confirm?

You just made that up. I can confirm.

  4. To be fair they were losing 1 - 0 last week. he came on and they scored two goals to put them through. Today it was 0 - 0, he comes on and they score. Noticed this happen a couple of times at the end of the season. Forbes is a top championship player and a decent bench player in the premiership. I think he is unfortunate, a bit like Cairney at Hibs, when things don''t go well or to plan he is the first one to drop. The attacking mid role needs your team to be in control at that level to work.

Really? If you're holding on to a game you don't want someone who is afraid to tackle and get stuck in. If you are chasing a game he has no pace. At no point this season have I thought 'I wish we could bring on Forbes'.

His only asset is his left foot and frankly no player should be in a Premiership squad solely because he can put in a half decent cross (sometimes).

  5. Just thinking to myself, but is it not the case that, the feasibility of the main stand as a home singing section is not an issue for discussion, until the club provide a valid reason to move us?

They have not provided a single reason to suggest that we require to be moved.

The destination of where we are moving to is not yet an issue, as there's no reason to move us.

This is the most bizarre thing about this. The only reason given so far is that it's hassle for the office staff to organise the move. If there are a grand total of 250 season tickets in the north stand then it's not much bloody hassle, especially if they are going to have to move ST holders in the north end of the JHS anyway.

They aren't relying on the 'business' arguement anymore in the new statement although they did in the meeting on Saturday, of course that doesn't stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever. Plus we are only playing Celtic ONCE at home next season, so even if they can shift a few extra tickets by doing this (although I don't see how they can) it's absolute buttons for ONE game. On the off chance we play Celtic twice at home next season that means we're in the top 6 and the extra money we make from that league placing is certainly enough to get a couple of temps in for a couple of days to process the ticket moves.

It is such a monumentally stupid decision in every possible regard and it was communciated in such a snide way that I have absolutely no confidence in the board of directors. 3 summers, 3 times the fans perfectly reasonable wishes have been ignored and 3 times we have been treated with utter contempt.

  6. Okay folks, as promised I have uploaded the almost completed Youtube video of every goal we have scored this season in the SPL.

I was planning on waiting until early next week to put the video up, but seems we are so happy I've decided to post it now, and when/if we score goals against Ross County, I'll upload a final update on either Monday or Tuesday of next week (I'll include the link in this thread).

A prior warning that this video contains scenes of graphic celebration, and some John Baird that you may find disturbing.

  7. Interesting question about why our away support has always been disproportionatly large, it must go way beyond the fact it's our first season back in the top flight for so long.

Transport from Glasgow is decent, centrally located, despite all the problems of poverty in Glasgow as a fan base we're still proportionally better off than smaller towns, our catchment area covers the richest areas of the city, the need to show the rest of the country that not all Glaswegians are knuckle dragging bigots.
