  1. Hmm, I bought tons of Jags stuff from Greaves, and would often call in there as I walked up Sauchiehall St. on my way to Firhill.

I don't use a car, have no real idea where the "industrial estate" in which the Jags stuff unit is to be found, I don't think much of the new merchandise, and haven't bought a single Jags top or leisure item since the new regime was in place. I don't see myself ever going out of my way to get to the new place.

Basically, that's hundreds of quid that normally would have gone on Jags gear going on other things instead.

I'm the same, don't drive, don't live nearby, have read it's crap, can't be arsed going.

  2. You'll get it on Google, I'm also in work, having seen it before you basically have a the roof blocking the far away goal.

When the biggest stand along the side was done and the rest was still being built were we not effectively in the Green Brigade section for a game years ago? They had built the start of the corner but the stand alongside it wasn't done and we had a sliver of the end corner both top tier and bottom, I only remember cause I was up the back and it was the steepest and highest ground I'd been in at the time.

  3. Last night my Celtic mate was bemoaning how the bigger teams in Europe are too rich and that Celtic can never compete with them.

    Welcome to our world.

Depressingly the most we can ever dream about would be qualifying for Europe or a cup win. Celtic can only ever dream about getting to the last 16 of the CL. Football has stagnated across all levels, the only real movement in the past decade have been the likes of Chelsea, Man City and PSG, the only other possible movement would be some Russian teams and Monaco. Basically you're stuffed unless you get some multi-billionaire taking over. I'd love it is Southampton and Everton came in the top 4 this year if only to make the Champions League slightly less dull.

  4. When electronic cigarettes first came out (many years ago) a supervisor steward came to me at the back of Section 2 in the JHS and told me that she identified me smoking on CCTV. So if a camera perched on the front of the JHS can pinpoint me using an electronic cigarette in the far back corner of the stand why can't these cameras be used to identify supporters breaking seats, particularly those gleefully holding them above their heads like a trophy?

Insist all Celtic ST holders and away members supply a photograph when purchasing these things in the summer, match up CCTV images to these photographs, take appropriate action.

None of this is draconian or singling out Celtic fans for persecution, numerous English teams have to do this. Cardiff City supply some of their own stewards and some South Wales Police travel as well, but the main part of the operation is the local plod and home team stewards.

  5. Aparently it wasn't the Green Brigade, it was non-Green Brigade members who went to that area of the ground with Green Brigade stickers (available to everyone and presumably supplied by Lawell) who then broke the seats and put the stickers on so that the club can move the Green Brigade because they are persectued by the club.

That was the jist of what I picked up on Twatter anyway

I wonder if all those police at Easter Road would've sat back and done sod all if we broke over a hundred seats and threw fireworks on the pitch. I wonder.

  6. I don't know a great deal about the current Uruguay side, but having Suarez and Cavani up front must make them an awkward proposition for any opponents; and so, very relieving to see that the creaking limbs of eg Gerrard, Lampard, Cashley & co will tested to the limit in their 'group of death'.

Ingurlund to finish 3rd in their group, ahead of Costa Rica on goal difference only. Woy Hodgson to be replaced in August by some hitherto unknown Latino, replete with 8 assistant coaches, 3 full time translators and a wee Hispanic dug.

It's good man, like really good, beyond the 2 superstars they all play at decent teams in Portugal, Spain and Italy.

England don't have a cat in hell's chance of going through. A good tournament for them would be 4 points but I can see them getting just 1 from Costa Rica.

They were talking during the Arsenal game yesterday about Gareth Barry being in the kind of form that could see him on the plane

One of the German player was literally like  when someone asked him about that Townsend guy at Spurs being a secret weapon in Rio.

Gary Hooper is being touted as going to the World Cup

The only player England have that looks like he could go on to be a internationally renouned is Ross Barkley and this tournament comes too soon for him. Same for the Southampton guys, they'll have a totally new and potentially very good midfield for Euro 2016 but in Brazil they will get pasted.

  7. Too late for another big post but in short...

    Osbourne is simply unbelievable.

    Picallo was excellent again.

Muirhead was back to the player we know he is. Only early but I think that could really become a good solid partnership.

    Doolan's goal was awesome.

I like Christie Elliot, he is growing in confidence, contributing more each game and making us less predictable going forward which was a real issue.

Archie shows he does know how to adjust our play, I'm over the tiny doubts I had.

I really thought we were going to hold on so it was a gutter but we can build on this to take points over Xmas.

  8. I don't think the plans ever got off the ground but I was jibbering to Cowan in a pub in Deadstone many moons ago and he was going on about Firhill being worth shedloads more than a patch of land across the canal and that it was a possibility.

Done well it would be quality, a more elaborate Almondvale with a sweeping bridge over the nolly, a fans area with bar and beer garden by the water, etc.

  9. Dont think his agent is doing him any favours with regards to his development ( just going for the money) cant see him displacing Izaguirre, agree with last post Banzo is a more complete player

And Izaguirre has been average at best since his injury, remember that awful performance he put in when he was the only senior player in a friendly a few years back? It's not impossible he replaces him if he gets a chance when he is injured/suspended but when even the red tops aren't making up stories about him moving to the Premiership then it doesn't look like he has any suitors.

Is he not on record as saying he wanted to move to England after Thistle?

  10. Shame for him to go to Celtic and become a bench warmer then a nobody trapped on a contract for a few years and then back to the lower leagues. He could of course buck the trend but the OF kill young Scots with potential the vast majority of the time.

Also, you often hear about these kind of deals being done but the player being allowed to stay with the selling club until the end of the season. Don't see any mention of that though. It's not the end of the world, punt Banzo back to left back and let him regain some of the form he has lost, we've got plenty of cover in the midfield.

  11. how much do the club get out of the calendars and programmes ,

A question along similar lines, what do the programmes cost these days and how many do we sell at an average game?

I don't know anyone who buys one and don't see people reading them very often, although I presume proportionally the JHS buy a lot more, posh old gits with their reading and that.
