  1. Firstly, Maggie and Fiona have asked me to thank everyone for their kind comments expressed here and through other communication channels.

They will both be back in their places in the JH stand on Saturday, though very conscious of the empty seat beside them

For that reason, and while extremely grateful for the suggestion and the thought behind it, coping with a minute’s applause would be very difficult and their preference would be that this kind gesture did not take place.

    Thanks,

    CCJag

Probably a bit too soon, but an excellent gesture from the good folk on this forum. Health permitting, I hope to come along and join them in the stand.

  2. It was my honour and privilege to have known and spent a lot of time with Derek. One of Thistles, and life in generals, true gentlemen. Gave so much to the club behind the scenes, and a man I am proud to consider a friend. He will be sorely missed.

  3. Hello everybody. Heard about Brown's sad passing, so couldn't pay my respects without doing what a lot are doing and sharing a couple of fond stories. If you remember our back-to-back championships, when we clinched the 1st Division title, it occurred to me that since the 2nd Division title hadn't yet been decided, we were the champions of two divisions at the same time. I wrote to the old Bob Crampsey column in the Evening Times and he confirmed it was a World's first in footballing terms. I mentioned it to Brown, and when we were presented with the 1st Division trophy, he made sure the SFL didn't take the 2nd trophy away until we got it recorded for posterity. I still have those pictures. Another memory was at home reserve games in the mainstand where a load of us sat in front of the Directors box for a 90 minutes "sweeties and putting the near side linesman off" session. After each shout of abuse at the lino, the sweetie bag came out, and it was raised for any directors to grab one. We knew Brown's hand would be the first in the bag. The it would be Tom Hughes and finally Alan Cowan, almost as if he was waiting to see if they'd been poisoned first. Lots of laughs in more innocent and carefree times. R.I.P. Brown. The most approachable and pleasant Director we've had, IMVHO.

  4. ....aye CD!

I give thanx to the curative powers of Diclofenac, Co-Dydramol and Dihydrocodeine). tae!!!

Great Pic's as usual M8! :clapping:

Thanks Davie. The milder weather makes mobility easier, so good to see the Springtime kick in again.

Good to see you back CD, have missed your photies. But doesn't this make you a glory hunter? B) Turning up for the championship! :shakeshout:

Thanks Scotty, but I vigorously deny your "glory hunter" allegation, although someone DID catch a pic of me and some of my pals making our way to the game. ----------> http://gv.pl/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/gun_cartoon_web.jpg :innocent2::whistling:

  5. A rather large (well, very large, actually) selection of pics from the game against Dunfermline, and some post-match trophy presentation and celebration pics are now available for viewing below; -

Was nice to be back for the past few games, thanks to the curative powers of Diclofenac, Co-Dydramol and Dihydrocodeine). Hope you enjoy these as much as you used to.

Smiling families, a gifted Scotch pie, witnessing a near fight at half time, two pitch invasions, one half full bottle of champagne left on the pitch for one fan to enjoy, celebrating players and fans, one childish petulant act that I found awfully funny, one wee child at the end who got lost, but was reunited with her parents by the stewards. All in a day at Firhill. At the end end of the day, we can all say; -

"WHA'S LIKE US? DAMN MANY, AND MAIST OF THEM WERE AT FIRHILL ON THE 27TH OF APRIL, 2013.

    Respect, CD.

Edited to add. I'm also enjoying everyones own accounts of the day, either by picture or videos. Keep them coming! :thumbsup2::fan: ------ :squad::ptfc: (That's meant to be Thistle "on fire").

  6. Will start creating my title celebration set (though I suspect they won't be as good as many, many camera phone pics taken from the pitch invasion) as soon as I eat a great big curry, down a few bottles of alcohol-free wheat beer and generally celebrate with mates, but thought the ones who couldn't make it today might enjoy seeing this: -

Some unique perspectives to come, but it's all about the fans for now. :thumbsup2::fan:

  7. Nice to receive congratulations from other teams' fans. Got them from some Bairns fans both before and after yesterday's match. Also from a Stenhousemuir fan in the pub after the game. He said that Rowser has been brilliant for them; they can't believe he's as old as he is!

Some of the lifeguards at Whitehill swimming pool came up and shook my hand this morning, and offered congrats. That was nice of them.

  8. Genuine congrats on what has been an impressive title campaign for yourselves.

Respect to your players for going on such a great run worthy of winning most leagues, ( aye, i know what i said ;) ).

Enjoy your celebrations tonight and beyond and gd luck up with the big boys.

    the man.

Humility = dignity. In other words, you can't truly have dignity without humility.

Respect to you, and good luck to your team next season.

  9. Fair point. I suppose I should've put up the next pic where the Thistle players all have their hands in the air and shouting for a penalty, but as the cation said, it's a matter for the individual fan to make their minds up whether they think it's a handball or not. Personally, I was too busy taking pics with one eye, and watching a guy trying to eat two pies at the same time with the other. ;):thumbsup2:

  10. Thanks folks. Good to be back doing some pictures that seem to be enjoyed. Was worth the broken sunglasses, caused by large amounts of group hugging, and excellent to see they're as popular as they used to be.

Respects all round, CD (haven't used them initials in a long time!).

  11. I've come out of retirement this week, and a selection of pictures from the back of the North Stand is now available via the link below; -

Photies are taken in "old school" style, so quality has been compromised due to having to use a wee lens and the shakey exuberance of myself and my fellow fans. Lots of jossling, but who cares. Because we lost the penalty shoot out, I've left those pics out and made a reference to it using childish spelling. If enough folk want to see in what directions the kicks went, then I can always add them.

    Hope you like them.

  12. Fingers crossed mate. You must have enough to fill a book or three :D

Funnily enough, Jagfox, a couple of people have approached me about a photo book. May be doing a non-sports one in the Summer, which could be a major project. Was over Glasgow in a helicopter last week and got some good pictures. Firhill looks even better from the air. (Mind you, I made George Square look good -which proves the camera is a total liar after all! :innocent2:;)

No problem Jim. Good luck, hope you recover them.

Gonna keep trying, Will. Again, thanks for the heads up about the possibility of getting them back.

  13. The hosting site went under without any warning and all the photos were lost. Lianne requested a few times to see if she could get access to the server to get the photos back but she was unable to get even a response. There was a slight hope at the time that someone would take the photohosting company over and the photos could be recovered, but nothing transpired. Really sad as there were lots of cracking photos mainly by Lawson Spiers (Tafkaro) and Jim Wilson (Clinically Depressed) who provided many photos for the ptfc.net site.

ETA. I've just gone on the old site WWW.fotopic.net and found that they've been allowing access to former account holders to access the old photos so I've emailed Lianne to ask her to look into recovering them. In the meantime, if Lawson or Jim spot this, perhaps you can get your photos back also?

Got your message about this, Will. Unfortunately my brain made me forget my user name and password. Still trying before the cut off deadline, because there are some major historical pics in there, and I believe the set from the much lauded at the time, "Kirkcaldygate" are in there as well.

  14. Final set of match pictures from the Falkirk game, including a well made & struck goal can now be viewed below; -

Remember, you can see all of my pics from the season by clicking on the home page button, including the first time in club history that a match was captured from the floodlights, viz; -

https://picasaweb.google.com/111371138180375231030/StenhousemuirHRamsdensCupRnd1FromTheFloodlights . I've added a few pics to that set that I took during my "test run" to see if I could manage it. Some nice views of Glasgow in there.

Been a pleasure over the years folks. If/when the health situation improves, I'll see you back at some point with my scarf on for a change! :fan: .

No dignity without humility. Mon the Jags!

  15. Jim, was that your photo? If so, it appears to have been credited to SNS.

That pic was taken by an SNS photographer. We stand in a group and take the pics, so I've got the same, and I made up the pose as suggested by Michelle Evans from the club. The pose was her idea. Credit where it's due. Once the club have used to pics they want to use, I'll fire up a set. Very odd though. The guys with the masks looked like Archie was used in a cartoon by Terry Gilliam from Monty Python (it's the eyeholes that do it. And yes, I did say EYEholes.). Archie's in for an awfy surreal moment when he comes out to the pitch on Saturday. :happy3:
