  1. When McNamara left I admit I didn't want Archie to get the job. I thought it was an easy option taken by the club. Delighted to be proved wrong though with the way we won the Championship. (I wanted Hartley at the time as I thought he had earned his shot - but that's irrelevant).

I was loving the football we were playing at the start of last season. The movement and passing was a joy to watch and Archie must take credit for that.

However, he has repeatedly shown an inability to kill games off at vital times. He has shown to be naive on several occasions I feel. Now there seems to be a real doubt over his man-management.

He clearly has some real ability, but also some deficiencies which could cost us. Therefore, I hope he can turn it round in the next few games or I think his time is limited. As much as he has talent as a manager, he also has weaknesses which could get us relegated.

  2. Tragic to think that the difference between us winning and losing was sitting on our bench today.

One piece of inventive play in Dundee's box could have won that for us quite easily. Doolan wasn't the sub to make.

Lawless or Higgy for McDaid or Elliott was the blatantly obvious attacking move. At a time when we were in complete control.

    Scunnered.

  3. Glad to see Fraser in.

    Surprised to see Bannigan starting.

Stunned that Stevenson isn't playing. No Higginbotham, Lawless or Stevenson is strange.

Edit- game is on live on Dundee website for a fiver if you're not at the game or are in foreign lands.

  4. Not read the whole thread so apologies if it's been discussed.

We started last season passing the ball constantly. The first few games, Dundee Utd, Hearts etc, they couldn't get it off us. We moved it across then down the wings then back and tried the other wing. (It was also a pleasure to watch).

Problem at that point was shitloads of possession but we never took our chances. I think we are in a better position now with regards chance-conversion. Taylor will take chances, Stevenson is proven to score at this level, and Doolan has had 18 months at this level now and will score goals.

For me we should be trying to get back to dominating possession and the goals will come. The longer we have the ball the less chance the opposition have of scoring.

It sounds overly simple but it's a simple game.

  5. As old school as it sounds, when they come to our ground they should 'know they're in a game'.

Fine to try and play etc, but when they are so far superior to us I'd like to see us at least try and compete physically.

I can't stomach the b******* so to see us collapse to them with so little fight is horrible.
