  1. No fewer than six Jags failing to prevent this goal, it would seem. This was always one of my favourite old-style grounds.

From the left not sure who's behind the post, might be Colin McAdam, Andy Anderson, Ian Mckinnon, "Roger" Whittaker, Roughie and Alex O'Hara at Broomfield obviously.
  2. Looks like Aberdeen, I remember Rough having a great game against them sometime in the early 80's. I was actually there, I do remember it being very cold, but I can't remember it snowing.

This was 1992-93 If you were there you would have remembered it for Davie Lyles half time battle with weather and brush.. Abandoned early in 2nd half.

Apologies for the second game of this Youtube clip. Stop watching at 1.00

  3. It's Murder!

Am I right in thinking that those warehouses (or is it a factory?) were on the other side of the nolly, and are long gone? Is that now the derelict ground where folk park their cars?

    Who's the Jag tackling Murder?

Yes Flats built / getting built there now.

Am I right in thinking when I first went to Firhill in the 60's that that bit of Panmure Street from the YMCA flats to Firhill Street wasn't much more than a track.

  4. Thanks, but when I click on the link I see the same 2,000 crowd given. Also, I can't find the press report....

The link should take you to the fixtures for 66-67. Go down to Feb 18 Feb 18 DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC Scottish Cup 1-1 Cunningham 19,104

On the link click on Dunfermline underlined and in red print. and it should take you to the page with the press cutting and the original photo.

  5. Good shout! I though it was John Divers too. Working on that, from the Official History book it must be 2-2 in season 66-67(scorers for us: Andy Roxburgh, Johnny Flanagan). And now I'm certain that the two other players are George Cumming (left) and Hugh Tinney. Tinney would later be sold to Bury for 30K, if I remember correctly.

Bizarre, though.... the OH book gives the crowd as 2,000 !

According to Partick Thistle History Archive the crowd was over 19000

If you click on the game there is a press report on the match.

  6. Great win for the 17's last night against Rangers at Lochinch

Rangers beat Thistle 7-0 the last time the two sides met who are a very strong side physically and the two squads warming up looked like two different age groups.

The pitch at Lochinch a couple of weeks ago was shortened about 12 yards and speaking with one of the Thistle boys he said this would suit them more than Rangers due to the longer ball game Rangers play.

Well done to the young Jags last night and great result against a team full of full time players.

Nothing on the Thistle official site yet but the Rangers official site have the young Jags as deserved winners.

That's a very encouraging report. Coming from a Rangers web page as well. Quite damning of Rangers. While Thistle are encouraging all levels to play good football, it sounds like their club ethos is to hoof the ball up to big bruisers up front. I wonder if they bring in McCulloch to show them his famous back in to the defender and fall down trick.

  7. You'll need to stand corrected again bud, I think I was the only paisley resident in their house that night. Well me, and Paisley Jag.

Every pub in the town ran out of drink, county square was that busy folk couldn't see the stage the players were on.

Jane and her pals ended up in a Mexican resteraunt that had moved all it's tables to become a pub for the night.

That sounds like a night out. It's time we won a cup again.

  8. And you also have stooped to the sterotype level of some Jags fans on here and I'm suprised you have done this.

I'm not trying to embarrass anyone but posting some factual information that i have never seen posted on this forum before that i found to be a bit of an eye opener.

You can't be trying It features on this forum regularly. I found that link in less than a minute. It's in the official history. No one is hiding anything. What the trolls fail to grasp is that there are bigots who happen to follow Thistle. But there are a lot of people who follow the OF because they are bigots. Do you get the difference?

  9. With yet another international hiatus in the SPFL league programme, there were very few games which attracted attendances in four figures this weekend. Dundee v Falkirk - 4661; QotS v Morton - 1685; Airdrie v Dunfermline - 1219; and Livi v Dumbarton - 1039. Where do all the punters go on such weekends? St Mirren v Ross County also attracted 4000+, but more worryingly for PTFC, the St Mirren win pushed the Jags down another place in the league table.

Or if your glass isn't have empty you could say our chances of avoiding the play off got a boost.
