Why are people against Kenny Miller as manager ?

Is it because he has no experience ? Is it because of who he played for ?

I would take Kenny Miller, he still looks incredibly fit,  he's always had that passion and desire to win things,.  He would get respect in the dressing room,.  we would play attacking football,.   You'll get people on here saying no experience,.  Archie had no experience when he took charge,

Tend to find that managers that are appointed in a panicked knee-jerk manner end up getting the bullet not too long after. Getting the right person takes time.

So unless the board have been on the case behind the scenes, I think the options are very limited. Maybe not the most positive way of looking at it, but that's where we are in my opinion.

Would like to think the board are already on the case,. Pre season training starts again in a few weeks,. We need to get planning on the assault on this league soon

To be honest if we sacked our manager every year and were successful I’d be happy !

I agree,.  A lot of people saying a 5 year plan,.  Any manager should be told what we expect,  promotion in your first season or youre out

The thing about a gamble is that there is always a price to pay if it doesn’t come off.

True,  keeping Archie would also be a gamble,  hes being asked to attract and assemble a new squad and is expected to win the league,  people may argue he won the league,  but bare in mind he inherited the league winning squad from Jackie McNamara

How long you been watching Thistle? I'm a wee bit worried for you.

Been watching Thistle for many years,  times have changed,  it doesn't matter if the next manager has had connections with Thistle,  got to appoint someone who  gets  crowds,  bums on seats,  Kenny Miller would attract a lot of interest,  hes a very good team motivator,  he would be a very ambitious appointment

There was  a number of fans at the front of the John Lambie stand telling Archie where to go and it wasn't to go and prepare the team for next season.

Archie's remit was to keep us in  the Premier league,  he did not deliver.

Kenny Miller might be interesting as a player/manager. I never liked him as an opposition player, but I suspect that he is one that you love playing for you and I have no doubt that he would run riot in the Championship if given some decent service. As a manager he is unproven, but the only way we are going to find a really good manager is to take a punt on someone unproven. I also suspect that he has good contacts. That said, perhaps one of the usual faces from the merry-go-round would be what we need to steady the ship and consolidate for a season. I guess the question is a gamble on a quick return or a 5 year plan to create a sustainable Premiership club.

Kenny Miller with Billy Dodds his assistant would be good. A gamble on a quick return for me,. 5 years in the lower league is unthinkable,  unbearable.

  8. We need some good news to cheer us all up,  hopefully positive moves on taking the club forward.   Which leads me to ask, is Colin Weir actually on the board ?   What is his role , when it says he is club patron ?

  9. Just hope we don't go out with the mindset let's just get a 1_0 and get them to Firhill,.  We should go all out to try and get as many goals in the first leg hopefully,  hope we take a comfortable lead to Firhill.

I see Ross County have said relegation means their budget will now  be reduced by 45%.....which in our terms means about £2m ..... that’s why relegation will be a disaster..... rumours about players leaving have already started....

the record of teams bouncing straight back up us very poor Dundee Utd just being the latest example

so I for one don’t long for the halcyon days of winning in lower leagues.... we need to stay up !

It would be disastrous for us, we cannot afford to go down, its as simple as that,  unfortunately we don't have Ann Budge type fans who are willing to invest heavily in the first team at the club.

Unfortunately, the board schemed and plotted to remove the fans' stake, and now there are only the Weirs (or other sugar daddies) to run to. Fans don't have the same stake, and are in the city of Scottish football's big guns. The sleazy tactics have turned out to be a strategic error, unless the Weirs really are willing to pour money into the money pit of a football club, and so far they haven't shown any sign of being so foolish.

Hopefully the Weirs might offer a cash incentive to get us through these playoff games and remain in the top flight.

Maryhill & Partick are our spiritual home, our identity our history, if we can’t afford to fix Firhill then we should look in the surrounding area ideally Partick, but here lies the problems. Apart from the huge amount of cash required to buy the land and build the stadium we will struggle to get planning permission for a football stadium in any of these areas, residents won’t want 1000’s of marauding football fans milling about on a Saturday or week night, access roads etc need to be big enough, parking needs to be in place. Look to the problems Aberdeen are facing for a stadium that’s basically out of town, in a city where they are the biggest team and have a huge support and a lot of good will.

My fear if we moved it wouldn’t be across the canal, down the Clyde side or even Milngavie (large Jags catchment area)  but we’d end up in the middle of nowhere, stuck on to the end of a crappy shopping centre with no rail, bus, subway links, no pubs, chippies, or restaurant and we’d become another Clyde.

You're right, the only place I could think of near Maryhill where there could be enough land to build a stadium could be the Dawsholm park area

What kinds of choice, comfort, and quality would you like to see at football matches?

Would like to see the Main stand being redeveloped,  Maybe the man whos name is on the stand could maybe help out financially, I Investment in improved facilities can only be good,  attracting new players to the club etc.
