  1. I would if I knew how to do that !

It's ok, one of our fellow forum members kindly sent me a copy.

Will have a wee look properly later. But did notice a couple of things - we have changed bankers completely from Bank of Scotland to Santander, and it does look like we also changed auditors and lawyers as well in last few years. Not seen accounts for a couple of years so might have happened previously.

  2. The big development in pitch maintenance in the last decade has been the lights they now use to keep the grass growing faster. It means pitches recover quicker between games and it's especially useful in the winter. I worked down at St James Park during the Olympics and they had these lights dotted around the pitch 24/7.

Obviously clubs like us couldn't afford them but what about chipping in for a set with some other clubs and using them for a month at a time throughout the season?

I still don't think the standard of the plastic pitches can rival a really good grass surface. Saturday proved that.

Is St James Park along with Old Trafford, Annfield, White Hart lane amongst others not a hybrid pitch which is 70% grass and 30% synthetic.

Interestingly Ibrox and Easter Road apparently use this as well.

Not sure of costs involved but this might be way forward

  3. Could they bring some Springbank with them next time?

Actually they did - apparently 2 bottles of 10 year old malts - one a special Springbank Gerry Britton label and one a Springbank Partick Thistle label :-)

I originate from Campbeltown and sat with the club on Saturday as I am related to some who were there and friends with a few of the helpers. Glowing reports from both the kids and helpers alike about how Thistle treated them. Can only benefit both sides - Campbeltown has a very well organised kids set up and would be good for Thistle too if any promising youngsters can be pointed the Jags way and good for Campbeltown to have a professional club showing interest down that way. And of course, a few more young Jags down in Kintyre is always a good thing :-)

  4. I know that. To me just sounds like someone spouting shite. How convenient that he walked past him topless in Spain!

Now I am spouting shite. Did you read my other reply as to why I did see him topless as well as other players.

I can only tell you what I saw at that time or are you now accusing me of being a liar. I have no reason to lie, so please explain to me why I should do that.

  5. You guys are hilarious

    "Doolan walked past me topless"

    Dare I ask.

What was hilarious about what I said. Yes Doolan did walk past me without a top on, as did many of the players.

And yes you may dare ask.

As I stated this happened in Spain in the pre-season, where the temperatures at 10am were hitting on 30 degrees celsius. The players were walking down to their 10am training session. The training ground was situated about 1 mile from the team hotel. The players were walking down to training in small groups of 3 or 4 at a time. Most of the players including Doolan were walking down only in shorts, socks and trainers with no tops on. Maybe they were wearing no tops was because it was so hot.

Does that clarify to you why Doolan was walking past me topless.

  6. He surely isn't fit. At the kit launch he had a Ben Arfa-esque gut on him and it looked reallty unprofessional. Nobody seemed bothered about it.

Sure the players need to rest and recouperate in pre-season but he looked as if he just battered the pub and world buffet on his 4 weeks off and turned up simply not in the condition of a professional footballer.

And you base this on a picture, You are speaking utter mince

I was over in Spain for the pre-season and Doolan walked past me one morning on his way to training with his top off, and I can assure you he is not carrying any sort of "Ben Arfa-esque gut" on him. In fact I was shocked at how toned he actually was and it was quite obvious he had been training on the time off.

  7. dundee united signed a Dutch centre forward can't remember his name but some cracking goals from him on YouTube I think he will be a fantastic signing

He played in Dutch equivalent of our Championship for 3 years and was actually released 1 year early from his contract to sign for United, no fee involved. His scoring record is not impressive and with none of the Eredivisie clubs were interested in him either so to call him a fantastic signing I think is a bit of an overstatement. Only time will tell

  8. I am on holiday 10 minutes up the road from San Pedro from 7th July for two weeks. Going to go along to the Brighton game! :D

Arrive at Murcia airport on 9th July at 5pm so it will be straight to my mate's villa to drop off gear and then to the Pinatar Arena for Jags v FC Pinatar Arena and then to a bar for 2nd World Cup Semi Final at 10pm. Will be at Brighton game also - so see you there

  9. Got a nice mail; back from COPA Football, the manufacturers of the top -

"Thank you for your interest in COPA.

You've spotted the Partick Thistle shirt very well. It's our latest addition to the collection and will be launched in the upcoming months, being part of our new Fall Winter 2015 collection.

It is now only available in the official club store, but if you wait we will be able to send one to our Amsterdam flagship store too for you."

So it looks like only available direct from TTL for time being but it will be put into official COPA catalogue in coming months

  10. Great sports shop, even sells beer. Would like to know if you are able to get the Jags top there today, as I'm going to see the Modfather this Sat. at the Paradiso and would pop in to Copa if they have them in stock.

Not on sale in shop here - I have to contact HQ in Breda to see if they have any in stock and ask for it to be delivered to shop here in Amsterdam

Am heading down there shortly to see if I can get it - hopefully as it is their Flagship store and is supposed to sell their entire range.

My mates are going to gig as well on Saturday, great venue. Shame Paul Weller doe not drink now but when he lived here about 5 years ago he used to always drink in Cafe De Koe on Marnixstraat and especially in Cafe Chaos on Looriegracht, both 5 mins walk from Paradiso and both great wee bars.

  12. I see it is made by Copa Football, a Dutch company - maybe the Amsterdam Jags presence has forced them into doing this :-).

Their flagship store is down near Centraal Station, think I will take a wander down this afternoon and see if they have it in stock :thumbsup2:

  13. Bilko, just like to reiterate what the others have said and thank you for these excellent reports throughout the season. Always a pleasure to read them.

Having lived here in Amsterdam and had an Ajax season card for about 9 years, I have seen the benefits of having a really good Youth System in place especially one where the whole club from the littlest ones through to the first team all play a similar style. From your posts this is what the club is striving for and it can only benefit the club in the long term.

God luck to your lad and hope you get good news next month

  14. A few people have posted on facebook in the last hour that at a meeting today before the game it was confirmed that North Stand will be for away fans again for next season.

If this is true the club, IMO, have really shot themselves in the foot once again. Just when things were looking good for us, they manage to treat the fans badly again !!!!!

  15. Sunnylaw Jag, Just a wee word to say thanks for posting out issues 4,5 and 6. Very impressed with the speedy attention given. After ordering them last Sunday, I received them through mail 4 days later. Good reading for travelling around Amsterdam on tram - Thanks again

  16. First time posting here in this topic but just wanted to ask a few questions of points raised by Norgethistle. Is it not true that the $657 billion debt you mention is total external debt ie government debt and private debt, private debt being money owed by individuals and corporations. As a %age of GDP this is 141%. Compared to the external debt of UK which stands at over $10 trillion or 406% of GDP this seems very little. Irelands external debt to GDP currently stands at over 1,000% which is astonishing.

Was the $657 billion not the amount which was published in an Washington Times report which conveniently forgot to mention that this amount included the private sector debt as well.

Norwegian public debt ie Government debt stands at approximately 30% of GDP compared to the 90% which the UK government. In both the case of external debt and public debt I would say Norway is in a far better position than the current UK government are in.

Re the Netherlands having a lot of laws implemented via European Parliament, this is certainly not the case. In fact the Dutch Government last year published a document in which it stated 54 key policy areas which they feel should remain exclusively in the hands of the Dutch Parliament including direct taxation, indirect taxation affecting Dutch only matters, environmental issues, criminal law amongst others. In 2012 the Financial Times actually called the Dutch "the most obstructionist country in the EU". Having lived here for 12 years I would say the Dutch are not as pro-European as is made out and have a very healthy distrust of Brussels implementing laws directly on them.
