I think a big part of our problem has been the formation in forward areas, with guys playing out wide who lack the quality to do so (e.g Storey, Mutumbo, Spittal) and an isolated lone striker.

Caldwell has persisted with this so far, but I'm hoping he goes for a 4-4-2 soon, so that we can defend from the front with two mobile strikers, who should run themselves into the ground for an hour (e.g Quitongo and Storey), then replacing them with better quality (Coulibaly and Doolan) when space has opened up.

A midfield four of Bannigan, Slater, McCarthy and ideally Fitzpatrick wide could work well behind the front two.

Time will tell in terms of how Caldwell sees it, but current system clearly hasn't worked for a long time.

    I’d play

    Sneddon

    Elliott Keown McGinty Penrice

    Slater McCarthy Bannigan

    Fitzpatrick Quitongo Coulibaly

5 at the back?  Only joking.

    For me

    Bell - GK

    Penrice -LB

    McGinty - CH

    Keown - CH

    Elliott - RB

    Bannigan - CM

    Slater - CM

    LM - Mutombo

    AM - Storer

    RM - Erskine

    Doolan - CF

For me Jefferies goes to rb. Bit confused as to why Mutombo, Storer and Erskine are in ahead of Quitongo, Coulibaly, Fitzpatrick etc

Coulibaly might not be match fit but I would at least be having Quitongo in there.

  3. Would go for a 3, especially away. Only doubt for me is do we break up the Penrice, Slater and Storey partnership on the left with Penrice at cb or do we keep it the same with Scobbie at cb.

    Bell

    Keown  McGinty  Penrice

    Elliott  Bannigan  Slater  Melbourne

    Spittal  Doolan  Storey

    Penrice

Elliot- as there is no alternative

    McGinty

    Keown

    Bannigan

    Ntambwe

    mtoumbo

    slater

    erskine

    Doolan

    Subs

pick 7 who are fit and not suspended !!

Keown hasn’t been up to it lately and we need a change of formation that will better suit Elliott.

    Bell

    Jefferies  McGinty  Scobbie

    Elliott  Bannigan  Slater  Penrice

    Fitzpatrick  Doolan  Quitongo

Until the penny drops with all fans, I fear this circus will go on. Christ, we were still losing to Livingston at Firhill and there was the "Oh Alan Archibald" song being sung from the NS. Jesus wept!

It looks like we are heading for our 4th straight loss to second-tier opposition, the board is full of spineless chums who were too cowardly or lazy to cut the cord in the summer, and this is what we are left with.

Wanted to like this but I’ve reached the limit.

Your guess? Clearly not watching the game r & y. I'm with you, i'm sitting on my phone.......off to the beach. Sick of this same old pish. RE BUILDING my arse. Sleep walking to relegation AGAIN.

I've yet to jump on the band wagon, have said previously we need to give the mgt team time but i'm oit of patience now.

The writings bn clear at all the games i'vr seen. Same fragility at the back and at mid field and we don't look like we've a goal in us. Very poor, very scarily concerning. I'm approaching "archie out" status ot we are in danger of being relegated again.....mark these words

    Approaching!

  7. Reckon we’ll line up with

    Bell (Lennox if not fit)

    Keown  O’Ware  McGinty  Penrice

    McCarthy  Slater

    Spittal  Storer  Erskine

    Doolan

Keown has played right back in the past for previous clubs so he should slot in there and I don’t think we’ll risk Banzo on an artificial surface.

Archie did not say anything like the above in his JagZone interview!

The only vague grain of accuracy was that there had been no movement on the Transferlisted Three and that resolving their situations would help to clarify matters for Archie.

Thanks for clarifying this, was a bit worried there wouldn’t be anymore signings!

A wide player who, freakishly, cuts inside and has a shot rather than reflexively take it wide for an aimless cross might be nice.

    Just a thought.

(not saying he’ll score from said shot mind you)

    Miles Storey is your man

Perhaps given the thingy with the advertising hoarding, "kick start" is not the best term to use. :)

Can now put out a strongish looking first team......

    Bell

    Elliott-O'Ware-McGinty-Penrice

    McCarthy-Bannigan

    Spittall-Erskine-Storer

    Doolan.

We've obviously a good few signings still to be made even to run with a pared down squad.  Using a bit of licence in including the Transfer Three and the youngsters I reckon we're two players short of scraping up a reserve team.  At least tho' having that 1st XI signed up at the start of the month gives some key players time to gel.

Fitzpatrick instead of Storer and switch his place with Spittal. Watched him on Saturday and thought he looked ready for the first team, have a feeling we’ll be using more youth players this season.

  11. Just a thought, surely, at this most "family" time of the year we should rally round. Surely no one would want to see someone sacked at this time of year!!

Archie has a family for Godssake, can we have just a little class.

I went through the post bertie auld era, and this is nowhere nearly as bad.

His daughter goes to my school

  12. The core Archie cult aside, there is perhaps more understanding that he has limited time now. If there are bad results against Hamilton or Ross County at home you’d have to think the majority of the suppory will turn against him. I think a difference in management could make a difference to this team. In which case even if we are 4-6 points at the bottom with a transfer window and winter break there is still a chance of avoiding relegation.

    It isn’t Alan Archibald FC

Well said, a lot of them on Twitter think it’s a crime to say anything against Archie, Colin Quinn is the worst for it
