  1. Might sound an odd suggestion but I think we should play big Sammon at LWB. He was superb against Celtic tracking back. He would also offer a bit of presence out there if we do need to go long at points and isn’t the slowest player I have ever seen.

Would never have thought of that. Might be the solution to our problems!

  2. Yeah I though McCarthy was good too, and Erskine was okay, but can't argue that the subs changed the game

Definitely, just at the time I thought we should've took off Barton for Storey instead of McCarthy and Lawless off for Spittal instead of taking off Erskine.

  3. Wow. That game had almost everything. Here's my thoughts.

    First Half

Atrocious. Dreadful. Soul destroying. Our formation was not working. There were big gaps between midfield and attack and also midfield and defence. Our midfield was not there. Felt sorry for Sammon as there was nothing for him. Leitch-Smith was ripping us apart. Keown was getting targeted in the air and Kamara and Moussa were a handful. Cerny was lucky not to be sent off with the rule change but his save was great.

    Second Half

Fair play to Archie for making some quick substitutions. The formation worked better with Lawless doing not bad as LWB. We showed some fight and some passes were made. Erskine and McCarthy were rightly taken off as they were poor. Storey and Spittal really livened things up and Dools cross was nice and calm for the winner.

We got lucky. It was ugly and end to end stuff. If it had been a draw I would have been happy but a win was superb. Dundee must feel cheated. That O'Dea is a walloper. Good support from he North Stand today!

Erskine was playing well and linking up with McGinn, McCarthy was scrapping for everything in the midfield and made a few good passes so I disagree.

  4. The above post I can take some points however....

Kevin Nisbet is 21 in a few months, likely will be freed. Mark Lamont will be 20, unlikely to break through based on evidence so far. Andy McCarthy is actually 19 is a few days, Penrice in a few weeks.

As my post said McCarthy was used when we were beat on Saturday with 8 players missing.

KJ's post about average age is pointless really, the age of our squad has nothing to do with our youth players more a policy that Archie has when signing players. If you look at the stats for Under 21 players in starting line ups I believe we are at the bottom in SPL terms.

The point about starting from nothing I accept partly but remember Liam Lindsay came from this nothing and there were a couple of others who threatened to breakthrough but didn't get the chance or weren't good enough.

Time will tell, but how many more years til we either have players good enough for the first team, or actually play them? It seems that Under 14-15s from the start of ThistleWeir upwards at the moment have failed overall.

I was referencing the first team. It's just that Jaggernaut said the first team had become 'a team of older journeymen' when we in fact have one of the youngest teams in Britain. Just to clear up any confusion ;)

  5. Good topic, with good questions being asked by the original poster.

I seem to remember the team's youthfulness being highlighted not so long ago, around when we won promotion. Now, instead of young and eager players with plenty flair, we seem to have a team of older journeymen, short on passion, fitness, and flair.

We actually have one of the youngest squads in Britain

  6. Storey scored 13 goals for ICT 2 seasons ago.Does anyone know what position he played in for them? I know it will not go down well me saying this but are we getting the best from him playing him in the positions we are?

He played as a lone striker at Inverness.

  7. No disrespect intended, KJ, but this is absolutely inane. Archie is a player who represented us over 400 times. As a manager he both got us promoted (undefeated) and has kept us in the top division ever since. Whether he should cease to be manager or not is most certainly open to discussion but I feel he deserves more than a straw poll on here.

In these days of lazy journalism it's not beyond the realms of possibility that some red top would use the results on here as some sort of definitive answer. One, we who post on here are possibly no way representative of the fanbase as an entirety. Two, Archie deserves far better than this.

Oh, and edited to add if my first point has any relevance then we're talking about a man's livelihood here. Make your point by all means, KR, but stay off the polls at least on matters like this.

Three, he's a troll. He's done the same on P&B.

    He's a ****wit.

When I started this thread I just wanted to see what the opinions were on this and I'm glad that the majority still support him but I'm sorry if this has touched a nerve with anyone, I am not a troll although sometimes I post something the following hours after a loss which I later regret. I am simply trying to get opinions which is what forums are based on. I realise I could've been a bit kinder with my wording, I have had the privilege of meeting Archie and he is a very humble person who I feel can sometimes underestimate just how important he is to the club.

  8. There's been a lot of people on this forum wanting rid of Archie but I think the majority want to stick with him for now, just wanting to confirm this. I personally hope we give him more time but people saying it's his choice when he leaves are quite frankly kidding themselves. I don't think we'll be challenging for top six this season, we'll be lucky to stay in the league the way we're playing. :(

    I say no

  10. We did not act or play like a unit today, is there a dressing room problem? Every other season we have bought unknowns with the exception of Stephenson and Archie has (generally) made them better, this season we have purchased a few well known (in SPFL) players, has this upset the balance (and wage structure) in the dressing room, reports of lawless throwing his toys out the pram after Motherwell, no leadership on the park, something is amiss. You do not go from last season to this season without something happening, the management is the same, the coaches are the same, the bloody injuries are the same, but we’ve brought in some bigger names, just a theory but something is wrong

Thought Lawless had a chest infection?

  11. PT says it like it is. Let’s not be one of those clubs that chops & changes management teams just because we go through a barren spell.

We've been through barren spells with Archie before but the difference between this time and other times is that we at least looked like we were trying the past few times, whereas this time we look absolutely devoid of any pace, creativity and effort. People can say it'll be ok when Booth, Osman, Dumbuya etc come back but if we're going with the same team as yesterday to the end of the year it will breed a losing habit and we'll just accept losses as 'not our day'. Don't agree with clubs that constantly change manager but you need to change manager eventually in modern football otherwise things become stagnant and there is no progress(see Wenger at Arsenal).

  12. Knightswood Jag if we continue on this run and wait until the end of the year to get rid we could be so far behind it would take a miracle to keep us up.If we are to get somebody else in we have to at least give them a chance of keeping us up.At the moment we are not detached.A win next week and we would only be 2 points behind Dundee, but a defeat and yet another team begins to pull away. This week is a big week for the board and also for Archie. If he is still in charge on Saturday we must see a reaction from the team and prove they are behind Archie, another performance like yesterday and he has to go.

Agree, I said to my friend a few days ago that if we don't win any of the next 3 games(Killie yesterday, Dundee and Hamilton) Archie has to go but I'm being a bit more positive and thinking that we'll pick up a few points between now and the end of the year which will keep us close to other teams but still bottom.

  13. Those who do this are scum.

I feel for Accies who continue to produce good young Scottish players.

But if it had been Sevco......

Will King not being able to buy the shares affect the existence of their club? Would be hilarious if the new club died as well
