  1. hope he gets a good reception next season. what is cowdenbeath like for an away day? its got terracing anyways so a decent atmosphere! the stock car racing sounds more entertaining though!

by all accounts it's a bit of an 80s throwback. Terracing, pishing against a wall, fighting after the game and supporters buses getting bricked.

    Bring it on :D

  2. both Brechin and Cowdenbeath are a pain in the ass to get to via public transport. The possibility of 3 Fife teams in the league is not an enticing one.

edit- it would appear a r s e is autocensored and americanised. blimey.

  3. Quite pleased Stirling are up, I've a couple of friends that support the Binos and we normally make a day of it when Thistle play there.

Shame about Ayr, but losing 9 of your last 10 games (no prizes for guessing the 10th) isn't going to do. Not sure who I want to win the playoffs.

  4. Doolan has the potential to play out wide if his goal scoring doesn't improve. It might well have been tried already if it wasn't for us having the unusual situation of being blessed  with two left sided players in Corcoran & Erskine.

Doolan has genuine pace and shows signs of not being easy to knock off the ball (his stint at Clyde may well have been of benefit in that regard) and thus could make him in time a versatile asset. Damon Gray lacked versatility, don't think he was that pacy on the ball and to put it bluntly was a bit of a fearty.

I'm not convinced that Doolan will make it but he's certainly worth the time and effort of at least another season.

I’m not that sure he has. I think Corcoran is probably our only quick player but he takes about 30 yards to get going.

Bit O/T on this thread, which has kind of drifted anyway with the Doolan discussion, but I’ve always thought it would be interesting to see the stats at pre-season training –or at various points in the season- in an NFL style e.g. 40 yard sprint, bleep test, standing vertical jump, shuttle runs, bodyfat % (OK, maybe not the 100kg bench press).

Could certainly confirm or confound opinions held about certain players.

  5. A 1-0 defeat against County would mean a -4 goal difference for Ayr so they would have to win 4-0 against Morton to level it. If it goes to goals scored after that Mortons is much better so Ayr would still finish bottom. In an ideal world Ayr would just pump County by 5 tomorrow night so that a draw against Morton would do. :thumbsup2:

Aye, because Ayr beating Morton won’t affect Morton’s goal difference at all.

I’d quite like Morton to go down, they should actually be a decent team with the bankroll they’ve got. Ayr’s a decent day out so I’d like them to stay up.

Would also be funny if Airdrie lost in the playoffs for the 4th year running after all the ground they’ve clawed back just to get there.

  6. The way it stands

    ------------P GD Pts

    8. Morton 35 -26 34

    9. Airdrie 35 -14 33

    10. AyrUtd 34 -29 31

Ayr away to Ross County during the week then on the last day

    Airdrie v Dunfermline

    Morton v Ayr

A 1-0 defeat for Ayr against Ross County followed by a 3-0 win v Morton while Airdrie get a point at Dunfermline for Morton to go down on goal difference. :thumbsup2:

Ayr are at home to County, but that scenario would be just dandy.

  7. Spare a thought for the Morton fans who travelled to Dingwall on a Monday night to lose in the 92nd minute.

    Or not.

An Airdrie win on Saturday guarantees them at least a play off place, and if Ayr beat Morton then Morton could go straight down!
