  1. Picked a girl up in the west end last night , chatting away , says her boyfriends a Thistle fan and he posts on here, "whats his name"? i asked , expecting his user name . except she tells me his real name ! , told her i would post this, and he can rest assured even though i know his name and address i wont burgle his flat or be doing any identity fraud .

  2. Wasn't there on Saturday but have read the reports and seen the videos, seems there is a more than one issue ,

    1) the team were shocking , worse than shocking actually , took a big time attitude and got there collars felt , especially after scoring early , nothing less than a route in the replay will be good enough .

2)macnamaras ability to motivate and keep the players grounded must be questioned ,but he was the "cheap" option as manager , and its monkeys and peanuts .

3)fans were right to be disgusted , and probably right to give the team a hard time , however there's always some who go to far , in any group of guys you'll always get a few d*ckhe*ds and there hangers on ,i've often wondered if these guys dont have much else going on in thier lives to get passionate about .

4)players tweeting and facebooking stuff, its a generational thing everyone that age does it , don't make it right or wrong but its the norm, no doubt there pride was hurt ,but its there professional pride ,which is entirely different to what we fans feel , to them ,maybe, it was a terrible day at work , however saturday is a chance to put it right , get switched on and do the job properly.

  3. We have water, oil, whisky, are leading the world in renewable energy and have a strong financial sector (even after the banking crisis).

Why not compare us to some Eurozone success stories like the Baltic states or does that not suit the unionist agenda?

As for suggesting that the union works, that is a matter of opinion. I don't like my country fighting illegal wars or having a Tory party that represents about 1% of the population of Scotland being in charge of my country.

I see Annabell Goldie is telling us that Britishness is a state of mind. Well, I've never considered myself British and I cringe with embarassment when I am called British.

The whisky industry is a globally massive one and as such needs as much govermental backing and kudos as it can get , would it be happy with representation by a smaller body ,the oil thing has been done to death is it really "ours" , no one wants to be involved in any war and its offensive to suggest otherwise, on a wider note someone said there is no going it alone anymore , if so then why bother with independence ? .

If you don't feel particularily British thats fine, its as always a personal choice , glaswegian , scottish, british, european whichever , as for the baltic states , would suggest all is not rosy when so many of thier finest and brightest people are choosing to migrate to western europe.

  4. Why look at Ireland? Never mind this Celtic dragon nonsense. Ireland has little in common with Scotland, has few natural resources and a smaller population with a history of emigration to the USA and beyond.

Is that not like Scotland then?

Ok, in Europe too many smaller breakaway states not equipped to support thier infrastructure and dragging down the bigger "traditional" euro states , dont fancy any of that , better to stay in a Union that works than one that doesn't, or try to go it alone and end up a banana republic.

  5. So when we get independence (and we will), are you going to move to England?

The union will be broken when England no longer wants Scotland , Salmond can't achieve independence by breakaway so is trying for expulsion , different route same end up ,and how could a country with so few tax payers support itself financially, "Modern unions" i.e. the E.U. aren't working on many levels , and breakaway states aint either ,look at Ireland in less than 100 years they had rebellion , independence, civil war and bankruptcy , leave the union as is in my opinion . etter

  6. So how much of Norway's oil wealth is shared with Sweden then? I don't see anyone accusing them of selfishness. The line has to be drawn somewhere, otherwise you could quite logically argue that any nation who has oil should share its revenue with the rest of the world (and there is fat chance of the likes of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia doing that).

I always think it is funny how the right-wing English media love to portray Scotland as a nation of malingerers and spongers when it has been the north sea oil revenue that has kept the entire UK afloat since the 1970s. You have to ask yourself why Margaret Thatcher, not one to suffer scroungers gladly, was always vehemently opposed to any kind of Scottish independence. Probably because she knew how important Scotland, and its oil, was to the rest of the UK.

the whole "our oil" thing is cobblers, the continental shelf act means it's british waters , was discovered/researched/managed by the uk government and was brought ashore and run from aberdeen purely for financial and logistical reasons , if it was pumped to england would it be their oil?

  7. That's the trouble with the SPL, crap standard , how casn you gauge the true level of a "decent" player , e.g. Mcgregor.

Mccarthy and Mcarthur were both considered pretty "decent" when playing here , but have become better players by moving south .

Thought the idea of a G.B. team to be at U23 level , if so then Scotland might be better represented .

  8. FFS , do people on here have nothing else to greet about , every team i have been in takes the piss, winds up and slags each other off , it's team bonding or maybe it's just young guys having a laugh , have none of these moaners never been on a stag do or similair , and how dare any of these intellectual types assume i'm of below average intellegence because of my newspaper !!!! they're the ones living out the stereotype of a thistle fan , it's snobbery.

  9. What a pile of sh1te this has become, OP was about C*lt*c playing the historical/stereotypical R.C. card , not a surprise really but still a valid point , then turns into religious/moral/ethical diatribe.

The guy(i assume) goes to church and firhill so what , does he need to defend that ?, have we become so obsessed with being anti the O.F. that anyone with a religious view is fair game ?.Like Some sort of inverted snobbery .

Is it any wonder that we are seen as a band of sanctimonious , self righteious , pedantic ,Glasgow Uni psuedo intellectual west end wallopers?.
