  1. Credit to the manager for realising the blindingly obvious and changing from 4231. Credit for dropping Gordon who has done nothing and is another failed signing.

Totally agree with Lindau - lack of defensive cover cost us today. Gordon can't defend - but unfortunately he was the only one that could have come on and fitted into our formation. Or maybe the formation should have changed and then we wouldn't have needed to bring on Gordon.

In any case, the players seem to have real issues when teams start pressing us.

Time to bring back in that psychologist that we had before.

    Totally agree.

  2. Did Liam Buchanan not get done for something ?

Liam's dad George 'Dode' Buchanan is/was a well known criminal and convicted drug dealer. Liam as far as I am aware is only guilty by association.

As for Strachan he's a wee ned and rotten apple.

  3. The commentary has been unlistenable, but I just caught something about an accident involving a supporters bus. Anyone know about this?

On BBC results show - Rangers supporters bus overturned in East Ayrshire, 18 injured, 3 seriously.

They may be an unpleasant club, but that's horrible to happen to anyone going to watch a football match.

    Update - one dead. Terrible.

  4. Didn't notice from North Stand but wholeheartedly agree with TC that I'm glad we kept it real and not plastic.

On a slightly different note, the concourse under the North Stand has in my eyes deteriorated further and is now completely covered in bird sh1t. Really don't get how the people in charge miss this, would it really be so hard to jet wash it? It's almost as if they don't care, it's only the North Stand Jags fans in there after all. Would much rather they cleaned the place in the close season than put up the fancy new placards in the NS entrance ways.

Er, I would get that chip off your shoulder. The Jackie Husband has been covered in bird poo for years - every home game in August usually means having to wipe the seat clean as it's caked.

It also took weeks for anyone to fix a dripping pipe that was right above my dad's seat last year.

  5. He waved away two blatant dives, which I thought were good brave decisions particularly as it would've been easy to give the fouls. But he didn't punish the cheater and I think that just encourages them to keep diving until they get away with it. But agreed it was a better performance with much less drama than he usually shows.

Just because soneone goes over, it doesn't always mean there is a foul or a dive. The referee can interpret that it's a contact sport and doesn't always result in a free kick or booking.

Apart from the corner I thought was ours at the end, unbelievably I thought he was very good. Two Thistle bookings were deserved, no real dirty ones from Hearts (just a strong, physical team) and for me no foul on Cerny.

  6. Title threads like this do nobody any favours! We're all disappointed and the players and management will know how awful they were and I'm certain they will react and take collective responsibility to improve next Saturday.

Performances like the last 3 games do nobody any favours.

The players downed tools and stole their wages yesterday, especially in the second half. I can take getting beat but where was the desire, the will to compete???

They shouldn't have to react, that's the minimum for any game.

  7. Car in a White souped up Vauxhall at the lights at Garscube Road/Firhill Road nearly ran over some of the crowd. .

Driver was out squaring up and people getting pulled away.

He was pulled over by the polis with 3 police vans blocking part of the road just across from the Vauxhall garage further up Garscube Road.

  8.

No exemptions mate. If you are picked for the first team you take the good with the bad and Nesbitt was dreadful today. Yes the same goes for most of the players but it was a stupid moment from Aiden that changed the whole complex of the game. If anyone needs to be cut a bit of slack, it's Christie. He has had a serious injury and I am pretty sure he suffered from having two games in 4 days. Facts are we were dreadful today

Can't agree. Nesbitt has had 2 top league starts and is 18, never likely played against hard, experienced players like today..

Elliot has been fully fit for weeks, has played at the top level for 2 full seasons and can't be excused for failing to find a pass to players standing 5 yards away or aimless punts the whole game!!!

  9.

I don't want to criticise the young lad but Nesbitt was the worst player on the park, for the 45 minutes he played. Pretty sure Archie would have been raging at the penalty he gave away when we were very comfortable. That moment changed the game completely.

Nesbitt's should be exempt as he clearly wasn't ready as a young player to deal with a street wise, cynical Motherwell team and players like Lasley. He looked lost out there, Archie has rightly given him a break at the penalty post match and saw he was struggling when he took him off.

Elliot has no excuses. He was just rank.

  10.

Completely agree. thistle played like it was a friendly match. Second to every ball, very little in the way of effort and even the goal we scored was god awful.

Only pass marks for me was Amoo who was positive and booth.

Players better buck up and realise we are in a relegation fight because the lack of effort today was very worrying.

Oh and how lasley got through that game without a booking is beyond me. Finnie is a dreadful ref.

    Agree totally.

Archibald at least tried to change things, but it doesn't help at all when the collective will to win was not there.

Every player should have a good look at themselves after today. Even guys like Doolan and Bannigan were well below even an average performance.

And Elliot showed exactly why he's a Partick Thistle player. Best on the pitch on Tuesday night, worst on the pitch by Saturday!!

  11. Geography prevents me going to many games but the Celtic game reminds me that, all in all, I always found journeys to Parkhead fine compared to going to Ibrox, which was always horrendous. I remember that even after a 5-1 defeat (maybe Ian Cameron got the consolation in about 1993) our away support got attacked by some very unpleasant people - around about the same time, we came away unscathed despite cuffing Celtic away.

Any views on whether the Celtic fans are less vile than Rangers'?

It goes without saying that I hate both clubs and all the cr-p that they stand for.

Undoubtably Rangers fans are worse. Ibrox is the only ground I leave hiding my scarf.

In the ground Celtic fans rarely react to us and usually it's in good humour, if a bit patronising. Rangers fans on the other hand are always quick with some sectarian bile and pure hatred against anyone who isn't part of the 'people'.

I remember being at Parkhead in 1992 at the legendary Geordie Shaw win. Celtic supporters coming away from the ground shaking our hands, saying we deserved it and wishing us well for the season.

Contrast that to Ibrox, last game of 94/95 season - the Alex Taylor 1-1, Andy Goram comeback game. Spat on by old ladies, pies thrown and sectarian abuse raining down etc at the party where the league trophy was presented to the orcs.

Although I would say both are as blinkered as the other in respect to each other, and the fans whose team is in the ascendancy at any particular moment are generally worse at that time.

  12. After watching them take Ian Gibson from us plus Archie and Shaggy and McNamara and beating us in play off fiasco in 1996 ( we were denied a stonewall penalty before they equalised) and umpteen heavy defeats in the 80's and 90's, tonight I feel as if we are now getting some long overdue payback, 3 straight wins over them without conceding a goal, it can,t get much better.

Well done Archie and the boys you make us all proud to be Jags fans.

    For ever and ever..........

    AJ

While I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly and believed the same for many years, YouTube has convinced me on that occaison Les Mottram was unfortunately correct....

  13.

The main point I was making though was even if it hadn't been an injury, any change would've been like for like.

However, I didn't say leave a back 3. He could've tried something. Why not put Osman back into defence and put an attacking minded or forward player on. We were clearly not getting anything from the game, why not use the remaining time to try a dufferent tactic in a competitive game, knowing that if it doesn't work, nothing was really lost?

Even if it was the right sub, why didn't we make big changes before that point?

Perhaps damage limitation should be the plan for the rest of the season.

I'm not disagreeing with the other substitutions being like for like.

But for that one I completely agree with the manager. Getting beat 6-0, 7-0 could potentially have been much more damaging for the team. Osman is usually a nightmare near our own 18 yard box.

It was a soft, soft second goal, the heads were down, Hearts were playing with confidence and purpose and I don't think any changes from 2-0 onwards would make a difference the way things went.

  14.

And Archie could've easily brought Doolan on or made some sort of change to try something different. He chose not to, just as his 2 previous subs resulted in players being moved into positions which resulted in us playing the same formation. His lack of willingness to tey anything different is ridiculous.

So your solution is to leave one young centre half, who is on a yellow card, in a 3 man defence which the Hearts front two were having a field day in the second half against???

It was exactly the right substitution. If not, what happened at the 4th goal would have happened numerous times. The heads were down and was a damage limitation exercise.

  15.

the loo/kiosks must have been full the whole game then

wasn't the only one commenting on this during the game - number of people with multiple freebies

First come first served. There was advertised 2,000 for an eventual crowd of 3,600.

Just because some people had more than one doesn't mean anything- they could have been holding them for kids.

  16. It's been tough this year to be a fan. I've been very critical of the value of the season ticket, with all the nonsense about the Celtic game and the supposed 'value' of the external offers. I also still think the mascot is an abomination!

But those balls today were excellent. OK so it's a it abstract design maybe not to everyone's taste but pretty good quality and utterly superb as a freebie - especially to give away 2,000.

Well done to whoever came up with that and the distribution was top class too.
