Hi there - everyone is entitled to an opinion (players and fans alike) but the bit about not changing the team doesn’t really tally with what I’ve seen since Caldwell took over.

Instead it looks to me that the manager is trying to alter formation and personnel from game to game where he can until he buys a result or a performance from an under achieving group of players that he can build on.

It’s clear for everyone to see that the players have no confidence, so he needs to be careful what he does, but the team selections don’t say to me that he’s unwilling to make changes. Perhaps there aren’t wholesale changes from game to game, but I for one understand the rationale for not doing that.

I’m not trying to defend Caldwell as being the right man for the job. Canddidly, I haven’t seen enough to form a view yet. But a lot of nonsense has been put out in forums over the last few weeks.

On the management side, we desperately need someone to build the player’s confidence. On the playing side, we need the squad to get beyond this mental block. The negativity is understandable, but unhelpful. There’s the irony. For me, in the absence of any obviously inexplicable decisions, the guy who is just in the door is the least culpable, for now at least. Confidence and trust are terribly hard to build, even more so in a hostile environment with added time pressure. The players are professional athletes, however, and it’s part of their job to work to get beyond this.

What is certain tho is that if the team can’t fudge their way to a couple of results soon, then it won’t matter who the manager is.

I started by saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally tho, I could do without seeing some of the more obviously silly posts. MY view is that it’s counter productive, given the problems that we so obviously have. But that’s just my view.

Anyway, I promised myself when I stepped back from the Jags Trust years ago that I would read, but not post. I’d really rather avoid getting drawn back in, so I’d be much better off sticking to that, supporting the team in my own way, and let people make their own decisions. I’ll do that now and not intrude any further.

Ran out of likes, esp like the " I would read but not post " point.......dam it !!! the irony

Had more than our share off downs this season. No wins in 8, much needed up long over due.

I share your pain Auld Jag, All we can do is Keep drinking doubles pre match to either 1. Numb the pain ..2. Get the last round in when we celebrate.

  3. Or a break from the norm ? As ex forces I have took a few of theses civi (civilian) courses. The point is to break down the quiet guys ( who can usually do better on a course as sometimes they are more focused to win as they THINK they are not part of the team) anyway...nothing makes you feel like your part of the team than "the guy" you dont kinda talk to in the dressing room pulls you out of a swamp by your ears ( or vice verca) thats a story you share, you bond, you look after each other......enough said me thinks.

ps...All squaddies will know the first time we put cammo on we all looked like fuds x

Three posts on the forum today. Says a lot about where we are and how everyone is feeling about it.

Apathy is setting in, It was nice to have a break last weekend, after all it is the Thistle way and I say that after 40 odd years. We will be up and we will be down but we will be forever a Jag.

  5. Whilst being a huge Bannigan fan and jeez it would be great to have him complete a full season for us at the level we know he can achieve, especially this season, He did want to leave and was in the process of doing so just as he got injured. Yes the club took a chance, a chance that has took a long time to come back in there favour and its still early days. If he can get back playing on a regular basis doing what he does best then i think he will be off again at the end of the season. The only thing that might scare clubs off is his injury history. I wish him well in a Jags jumper for as long as he stays.

He has missed a few good chances tho jaggernaut. He's been a little out of sorts compared to his usual standards. Glad archie has stuck with him. He'll be double figures by Christmas imo.

Thanks camailain. So much better camera work than the sh!te from the beeb

Or from the Jagzone cameraman, maybe you could teach him how to zooooom in.
