Defence much improved tonight. Would have had our first clean sheet of the league season if Bannigan hadn't have ****** up so spectacularly. Wasn't sure if it was a penalty or not but the ref shouldn't have been given a decision to make. That aside where in God's name do they get them from. Ayr were the dirtiest, nastiest side I've seen at Firhill all season but I'm reasonably sure it ended with two bookings apiece. Some decent performances tonight, Cardle's best game of the season, but in truth we need to create more chances.

    Wat was bannigans ****up?

Bannigan not at his best I'd agree. But in my opinion hes played well for last few months and he played decent Jan 19 to May 19, notwithstanding 2 stupid sending offs. We could do far worse...and have!

Not many jags players hav done well over the last few years, considering Stuart has only been back from a career threatenin injury for around a year, he's still 1 o the best players in the team, listen to his interview on Jagzone re his cheap bookings etc, very candid, I'm glad he's signed up, and deserved

It has to be said that he is geting more and more one-footed, which is partly why the team is not quick enough at countering: opposition sides know which side of him to stand to ensure that he can't pass forward.

Kakay is a puzzle: he competes energetically for the ball and gets forward into good positions, but when he has an opening on goal, he goes all Simon Donnelly - swiping it wide or high, or even, as today, heading it outside the post.

Thot bannigan was magnificent tday, I disagree with the 1 footed opinion, banzo played at least three, 30 yard passes to brilliantly open up play for us using his weaker foot, most footballers will favour their stronger foot, that doesn't mean they can't use the other

Manager can take the blame for the starting XI.

Far too defensive, far too negative in a game we needed to win.

Midfield didn't have a clue what it was supposed to be doing, no shape and aimless punts to Mansell and McDonald.

McMillan can't play in midfield, in fact, he is pretty dodgy at ful back as well. Why take off Elliot?

I've not been convinced with Anderson at all since he signed and tonight proved no different. Him and Saunders were dreadul, bullied by a big striker.

The manager can take a big portion of the blame but the players attitude is woeful. Someone might want to tell them we are in a relegation battle.

Only when Storey and Spittal came on did we show any threat due to actually having pace to attack.

I've no idea why Caldwell decided that was the best team to set up with but it was doomed from the start.

The whole club is sinking fast, zero leadership on the park, in the dugout or in the boardroom.

2,000 home fans for a must win game is pitiful, regardless of being on tv or not.

I hope they all enjoy Tenerife.

    Scunnered.

I think ur assessment is true, tactics wer way off, the whole shape from mid to top was out due to GC accommodatin Harkins, Bannigan is prob close to best holding in devision, but pumped wide, mediocre in that position, with no wide men, Fitz or cradle or spitz or storey, our attacking threat was limited to punts up park, no building throw midfield, can't blame th players coz they only doin wat GC tells them, so fe@#in frustrated tnite, Harkins bein accommodated throo this game tnite

We have to treat the 2nd half as an aberration.

We played brilliantly 1st half and should have been 4-0 up.

As soon as Spittal made his **** up, the heads went down and it reverted to same old. The manager seemed incapable of acting swiftly to stop the malaise which was evident to all which is concerning. Harkins was standing in the centre circle watching everyone run past him. Shocking that he wasn’t subbed after 47 minutes. We can’t afford a luxury player like that.

Not sure when Banzo picked up his injury but I’m very concerned as he’s by far our best player, imperious in that 1st half. If he played on with the  injury, added to Harkins’ immobility this could explain the midfield collapse.

Of course we are still in the mire but real progress has been made. We ain’t going to win every game.

Saunders for McMillan and McDonald for Harkins will make a difference  but let’s hope Banzo’s injury isn’t too bad!

Caldwell must iron out the 2nd half deficiencies, address the issues but stress the progress made recently

WB, ur the only one to b concerned about banzo which is odd, he is by far our most consistently best player, and to all banzo fans, he tweaked his hamstring and thinks he's caught it in time, it's too early to say how long he'll be out if at all, not too serious

Was there tday and firstly couldn't believe the teamsheet, hav rarely scored or created with this frontline in 2 years, they sign 2 others, supposedly better than wat we've got,  but goes with the tried and tested failures and benches new guys , can't  fathem that 1, Harkins unability to run,and by Caldwell movin banzo to accommodate him, kills th midfield, some on here continue to moan about sideways and backward passes, but these guys dont hav any one forward to pass to, so they retain possession, no runs from forwards or midfielders, most teams remit is  get the ball wide, then cross to big guys who can actually challenge big centrebacks and hopefully score a goal or 2, we dont hav a big striker.. every player out there does wat Caldwell tells them, wether well or badly, Harkins is a luxury we dont need.. Mcginty done his job ok tday but cant win a high ball fr toffee and at 6'5" is unacceptable,  and cconstantly hoofs ball into no mans land or row Z.. Elliott played well, Spittal tried, Banzo best of bunch, even out of position but needs quality flare players to pass to, am fed up  cheerio

  8. Enough, i think we'll get a good win on Saturday,  u could see the sharpness of the passin has got much better, Fitzpatrick should replace Storey, therefore we'll get the ball into the box, other than that i expect the team to b unchanged, 2 nil t the jags

Bannigan whilst nowhere near our worst is well overrated IMO. He's never kicked on. Still gets booked a lot, never added much in the way of goals or assists to his game.

Bannigan is a holding midfielder, he picks up deep and drives the play forward, till he finds... none of the flair players either making runs or space, he then keeps possession , either back or sideways, assists and goals isnt his job, look at other holding players, Broony, Keane, for example, get a nose bleed in final 3rd. Not havin an out ball in front if him, is starting to make him look ineffective
