Not sure that is right , if you look at Van Dijk going from Celtic to Southampton then to Liverpool and Celtic picking up add on fees for every transfer that is made .

Obviously with Penrice going to Livi after running down his contract there would be no add ons but moving to Greece for a fee surely if we had a Sell on Clause it would be implemented

That depends on what the buying and selling club agree, every deal is different and Celtic were in a very strong position to include sell on clause the immediate and the next transfer. I seriously doubt we are in that position with anyone, and the fact the Penner's left livi at the end of his contract would mean in previous circumstances we'd have got nada as you can't enforce an agreement onto his next club, or club after that.

Thankfully the current system allows a bit more flexibility to reward the developing club.

If for j low was to move on for a few at the end of this season, we'd get that transfer fee as he's under contract, the end of the season after we could get no transfer fee unless he signs a new contract but there would be a development fee due to his age.

but as I understand it the thistle academy and also his previous club (as he had only been in the academy a few years) would get a payment as well.

Could be wrong, and happy to be corrected by someone that knows more about the current transfer system but that's my understanding

Thanks , schoolboy error from the Club if they didn’t put a sell on clause in the deal  .

And given he left us for livi, surely any sell on clause would be limited to what livi sold him for....

But given he left them for free, to join hearts at end of his contact that's probably where it would have ended without the development fees.

I'm sure both us, livi and the thistle Weir academy all get money from that as he's moving to another country

I think Banzo would be happy to make forward passes if we had either:

    - Players in an advanced position making a run toward goal

    - Players in an advanced position coming short to accept a pass

Ive Rarely seen either thing happen when the ball is in the center of midfield, and that’s what I don’t understand about our offense.

Get turner back into the advanced midfield role when he's back and that should solve that

I read it as bigging up Mark’s role to justify the appointment. Why would he be lavishing praise on Graham at this point ?

Im not saying he should have, but if you put yourself in bg's position, he's a contracted player who we're told they want to keep, has decided the time is not right for him to take on the new role that was offered....and someone senior from the club posts that pretty much everything positive from a coaching pov was down to your previous partner in that role, and you were just the alpha male ( yes I've over simplified and ignored the legend talk etc etc) would you feel valued and want to stay ? If BG's time as part of the caretaker team was so minimal, why offer him a role in it for the future.

What makes you say that ?

Did you read it.....I took it as after you get past the Brian is a legend of the club stuff that everything positive that happened in training and during matches was all down to Mark, and Brian was just the alpha male...

I might be reading to much I to it.. but that's how I took it

1st half tactics were also interesting.  Fitzy & Chalmers were pushing up higher than Graham to pick up flick ons and also press the defenders as they tried to play out from the back and voila 1st goal

I noticed at the start of the game it was more like what we used to do before tiff left, 3 forwards players and they rotate round so you've always got someone fresh to press and harry....but always with 2 up top and 1 sitting behind them. Was working well until the red for banzo

Dumbarton appear to be making an escape from Administration whilst paying creditors in full which is as remarkable as it is rare.

I always wonder why in situations like this is all debts are paid etc etc why does the club still get docked points...surely the deduction for simply going into administration should be removed

Those highlights flattered us in the second half.....

Why did out new coaching staff or even the players not spot during the warm up that their keeper couldn't even see the ball when cross in from the Colin weir side, not exactly a rare occurrence given the sun height at this time of year, but I don't remember us trying to push down that side and get a ball in once in the first half.

Banzo, not sure what was going on with him, was over at the bench after we scored for something, was very hit and miss and trying to get himself booked at times and the ref was lenient with him imo. He then also done really well at times to break up play and move us forward. Then just before they scored, he's down and runs off the pitch so we're down to 10 when they scored.....if you're injured or need attention stay down ffs

As for Graham, I think he subbed himself to try to make a point about the fact he was rarely subbed of under dools...but all he done was weaken us on this occasion, same as he did with his comments after which I'm sure went down well with most of the players.

Not sure if Graham has already thrown the players under a bus with his comments about their fitness.

Agree about Graham it’s a no thanks from me to him as manager as well

The players and dools... Thought his goal celebration was very much I am the Messiah. As much as he'll make a decent coach or manager at one point in the future I don't believe that time is now

I would take that but I more doubt that we would re-employ McCall than we would employ Lennon

One question for TJF leads - we've known for a while that we  were potentially going to need a replacement for Doolan and McDonald. Whilst I would assume that TJF wouldn't get involved directly in selecting a manager I would have expected that they sight of a succession plan from the Board. So did that happen and without divulging anything sensitive was TJF happy with the plan?

As long as it's not the same board members that "helped" with player recruitment

  11. That was generally poor for most of it, without really threatening, if we exclude the missed penalty... contolled the first half then lose a bad goal on the half time whistle...second half was similar without being as in control. So few changes from the bench and all too late, ablade was great when he came on, most were decent in places but first again was poor, and didn't look interested for most of it till he got sunned off, if he's not playing with an injury he needs a rocket up him.

Very very disappointed to see the darker side of football again though, waiting to cross the road at the bottom of firhill as Morton's youngish team came steaming round the corner all Balaclavad up expecting to see their thistle equivalent...who were nowhere to be seen so they picked on a few innocent young thistle fans stood beside me, one of who ended up getting smacked  badly in the face and a scarf stolen. Hope the young lad was ok, walked him back towards the group where we met with some local plod who took the details and were going to help him get home, as for the young thistle team who turned up just before the police appeared, don't bother trying to get vengeance for him, just give it a rest and it won't happen in the first place, you want a fight go to a boxing or MMA gym not the football. Also heard they seemed to have nicked a bag from another young thistle fan with clothes and personal details in it..

Myles Roberts has been recalled by Watford. People may have not seen that their keeper sustained a bad injury at weekend and was stretchered off.

Although they had him lined up to go to Ross County, that may not be happening now.

Quote from Watford coming he might be staying with them, and that his time with us was positive...."

“Myles Roberts has just come back from Partick Thistle, but although we had another loan experience ready for him we’ll have to re-assess for now on that one.

“[Fellow young professional goalkeeper] Alfie Marriott has got a toe issue which needs surgery. Although it’s not ideal, we can put that off for a while, just to see this period through.

“This next week or so will give us a chance to have a good look at Myles to see where he’s at after what’s been a positive experience for him.”"

On Saturday the Scottish Indoor 3000m Mens Athletic Record was broken

the Man who broke it - Jake Wightman is a World Champion at 1500m

The previous holder broke it 36 Years ago wearing 9 Year Old Spikes -as he had no Shoe Sponsor or any income from Athletics

His Technology was a Casio Watch which had a start and stop button ( and sometimes a wee light to see it in the dark 😊

But it took 36 Years and one of the best Athletes in the World to break the Record

So - in short its not complicated - but Football  has a habit of making simple things complicated

The Squad play as a Group - They train as a Group - those unfit will have nowhere to hide - too much “ personal attention “ - too much mollycoddling them - they work there arse off or there dropped

As for “ Professional Sport” Fitzy would get his arse felt at the Local Park Run

If we lived near Sand Dunes that would be even better 😊( Jock Wallace was light years ahead of other Clubs ) 😱

I think we can correct quite a bit of that, Jake won in a championship best, slower than the native and national record, both currently held by josh kerr and set about 12 months ago. As it was the championship best, that means there is a maximum of 1 time per year to beat it, and most times championship races are slow and tactical and historically were ran at the Kelvin hall, where doing a 3k was torture so most people avoided it and we're doing cross country races instead.

As for sand dunes, I will agree they have a place, but that place isn't mid season when games come thick and fast with little time to recover between.

Having said all of that, Saturdays performance was awful and I'd give pass marks to only 1 or 2 of those out there......players can only do what they are asked, so either they are ignoring it....or the plan didn't work, so should have been changed.

A 3 nil defeat against Hearts today but we more than matched first half but always difficult against a full time and very physical side.

Yup, physical and tall....they made full use of the big pitch and we played too narrow and couldn't cope with their height....apart from that not a huge amount in it, but just too many gaps between the lines that hearts exposed all too often
