Thought I'd try and liven the place up a bit by trying to get some gun stuff on.
It's the glorious 12th, the beginning of the grouse shooting season. Fat drunk rich boys will be blasting away all over our moors.
Soon will come the deer to the gun, and the bigger pair of antlers you've got the bigger target you are.
I am an angler and kill trout and, very, very occasionally salmon. I would be a hypocrite to criticise other blood sports and I do not intend to do so. Shooting and fishing are massive to Scotland's economy, and we need to keep the same calm attitude towards these things that our forebearers taught us.
I personally know a lot of people involved in the shooting, and to a man they are all very interested and concerned about the welfare of their birds (not when being blasted out of the sky obviously), and their habitat. Like with the deer, there is a conservation angle on this.
Anyway, point is guns can be good. But only in moderation.
