kni
Not the whole pitch "The Firhill pitch has been for some time susceptible to flooding; particularly down the Main Stand side of the pitch. It was flooding on the side of the pitch that forced the postponement of our home game with Hamilton Accies in January. "Steps to rectify this problem were taken after this season’s Firhill Cup had taken place. "The first six inches of the pitch have been removed and fibre sand has been laid. This type of sand is commonly used on winter sports pitches, particular football and rugby. This sand provides additional stability to the turf surface and makes it more resistant to divots which should make for a more consistent playing surface next season. "It is estimated that the work will take approximately six weeks to complete and the plan at present is that Firhill will host just one home pre-season fixture before the start of the new season." We have evicted the Sellick colts too! "As we will part of the SPL next season we will be fielding an under 20 side and they will play their home matches at Firhill. That means, of course, that Celtic’s under 20s will not be utilising the facilities at Firhill next season."
