  1. Recently the Archive has reported on 2 games which, in my view (and I still recall them) had  disappointing endings to triumphant evenings - namely winning the 2nd Division (old) title against Queen's Park in 1971 and winning the Glasgow Cup against some other Glasgow team in 1981.

In both instances no post-match victory celebrations occurred. As I recall after the QP game there was actually an announcement which specifically told the fans (almost all of whom had stayed in the ground) to, and I quote "go home!". Whilst at the 1981 game, as reported today - the presentation was made in the tea-room to presumably preclude any reaction from the defeated club's supporters (frankly they probably didn't give a monkey's in any case).

It would be nice to think that such situations, as regards the precluding of the celebration of a PTFC triumph wouldn't happen nowadays (albeit perhaps the probability of any triumph occurring  is perhaps less likely).

  2. Goal up but quickly equalised!

Must admit to having respect for Glasgow City - trailblazers for the women's game until the bigot twins came along with their money (and effectively financially doping the league - but hey ho!).

    Now 3-1 down !!!

    Finished 4-1.

  3. On a totally unrelated theme has anyone any idea why a yellow PTFC flag and purple-ish Partick Thistle Foundation flag were flying over the Jackie Husband this morning?
Just curious and given the strength of the wind I hope they weren’t shredded.

  4. Two things strike me about the hat-trick list - and it's been said before about them.

The Roxburgh one is almost forgotten because of Dan McLindon's solo effort and the Jimmy Bone one against East Fife is probably overshadowed by Denis's 45 yard screamer.

Seems a shame for Roxburgh and Bone as regards quantity being eclipsed by quality.

  5. Have never started a match thread before I presume that victory will bring me kudos for doing so and defeat will pile derision and unbounded bile upon me.
A chance for 4 wins in a row and revenge for the televised torture of a few weeks back?
Mind the weather and beware the possibilities of the Forth Crossing being impacted by high winds for all those attending.

PS I apologise for calling us “Partick” in the thread title but it kinda went with Pars !!

Seems to be a mantra! :)

If we just take a point every week through the season we probably get relegated!

An unintentional "mantra" - although looking back I take your point - I will try to be less predictable in my predictions in future!

  7. Arbroath are really drinking in the last chance saloon but judging by their comeback against Raith a couple of weeks ago they are still pretty capable, so perhaps tomorrow will be very tight - would take a point tbh. Also weather might play a part?

Next season could be very competitive in the Championship, with the possibility that Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Livingston all looking to get promoted, along with Falkirk being far more of a threat than Arbroath. We have 12 players who’s contracts expire or loans end (including 3 keepers, 2 regular defenders and right back) so this will be a big transfer window for us to be near contention.

Will we be in the Championship to join them?

Adeloye next in line for a scan….

Williams may be out for a while….OReilly hopefully back for ICT at the end of the month, so short in defence again. Will Dools put Neilson back to central defence and allow Milne into his more effective position of full back?

Bite your hand off for a point tomorrow night and 3 against Morton on Saturday, or just 3 on Saturday as second place has disappeared over the horizon for us. But never give up, never surrender….

Our quest for points goes on….
