  1. Why? Are you talking about the cost of submitting a planning application or lodging an objection to it?
  2. Just hope there are enough objections to this messy, half-arsed plan and PTFC goes back to the drawing board and starts using a bit of REAL imagination for the old home-end/main stand (see my post above).
  3. I hope the planning application for the old home-end falls flat on its backside. It's half-arsed and it doesn't look as if the club would benefit as much as it should. Property speculators are often dodgy chancers. I've told you what Plan B should be. The old home-end AND old main stand have to be completely transformed simultaneously -- into a live music venue, casino, lapdancing club, apartments, sports bar, restaurant, selected retail outlets, etc., etc., etc. Planning consultants with a bit of imagination need to be appointed first -- to draw up a real alternative for the future of Firhill and, most of all, the preservation of the club I've supported for over 40 years -- Partick Thistle FC. Stands to fackin reason, dunnit?
  4. The more casual/fake fans who don't travel, the more likely we'll win ... Thistle (5/2) -- definitely one of four good away wins (15/2 Spoilsports) on the coupon. Worth a tenner along with Arsenal, Burnley and the 'Tic. Yeah, yer rite, stick to the singles ...
  5. Redeveloping the old home-end and the old main stand doesn't automatically mean Firhill has to end up looking like an ugly lop-sided half of a ground. Good planning and design could make it a real integrated attraction. How many times have I got to tell you? Some companies would appoint top-notch planning and development consultants and pay them tens of thousands just to get it right in advance (and that would include consultation with Thistle fans who happen to be the main source of income for the club). Local residents should also be involved in the process. Apart from a good corporate hospitality section and club offices etc., etc., there should be apartments, a casino, a live music venue, a lapdancing club, a sports bar, an Indian restaurant, a dvd-hire shop, a health and fitness club, an off-licence, a Waitrose and other selected shop units -- all for the profit of PTFC, the club, not some property company or fat-cat directors. I cannot understand, for the life of me, why a football club can't diversify like that. Fag companies have diversified into chemicals and paint making so why can't Thistle expand that way? An underground walkway between the Woodside Inn and a new subway station at Queen's Cross would be handy too ...
  6. More fool you, ya mug ye. "A man without a car by the age of 26 is a failure" -- Margaret Thatcher.
  7. Three-and-a-half hours from Glasgow to Inverness. It's a ******' 21st century joke. Rail companies in Scotland have been takin' the piss, time-travel-wise, for decades. Dunno why, really. Avoid them. America is as bad. See France. See Japan.
  8. In the media industry, sports departments are known as the Toy Department.
  9. How about Mike Hunt said quickly? Phone the public phone in a pub and ask if they could put a call out for Mike Hunt. Make sure some of your mates are in the pub watching the bloke who answers the phone. It's hilarious when he roars out "telephone call for My ****" ...
  10. Does anyone know the personal background of this board? Are they greedy businessmen and/or real Thistle fans? Are any of them rich Thistle fans? Surely it's time for them to cough up and pay off McCall? We should never have sold Harkins. It's part of the reason we are in the position we are in now. We should have pulled out all the stops to keep him. Look how many goals he's scoring for Dumbdee. We should also have kept Tuffey with money provided by directors who joined the club as rich Thistle fans. Where's all the benevolence now? And don't start about wage-structures, pay equality, etc., etc. We need to hold on to our better players. And beware, the bank is just running our club into the ground by stealth. Since we got relegated, they've made as much money as they can in interest/overdraft charges while knowingly simultaneously letting the club slowly bleed to death. Postponing the inevitable to feed their own selfish greed. They know exactly how long they can get away with it and when to finally pull the plug. ********.
  11. [quote To Michael McGhee From: [email protected] Michael Ok then - when are you going to offer to take on the resposibility of running this football club since you think you could do so much better ? I look forward to hearing Allan Cowan If that's a genuine reply, my club really is knackered wae people like that in control. He's abrogating his huge responsibility to the club and the club's fans by replying with a glib answer like that.
  12. Nevermind, Rodge. This time next season there won't be a Firhill. We'll be renting out Scotstoun Showgrounds and be bottom of the 2nd division, heading for 3rd div oblivion. We need a new manager, quick. He's oot there, somewhere. We just haven't found him. Yet. McCall must go. Get him out by Friday. Happy birthday. Awrabest.
  13. As a chartered accountant, it means Ian Cameron knows exactly how f****d the club is, financially, but can't do a friggin thing about it. Great game in that 5-2 win at Tynecastle tho', Ian. Eh? Magic.
  14. Basically, quit beatin aboot the bush. We're stoney broke. Part-time fitba at Firhill is inevitable ... 2nd div or not next season.
  15. Ross County away. Well, that's that finished for us anyway ...
  16. Oh, ok then. I forgot you can't take bevvy on supporters' buses these days. We live in a dumbed-down PC world ... Zzzzzzz
  17. Zzzzzzz ... Are you going to wait until we play them in the league up there or will you wait for the semi-final draw tomorrow incase we get an away draw? Zzzzzzz ...
  18. Definitely supporters' buses for those destinations ...
