  1. Hi Fearchar, Volunteering is a huge industry in Scotland, see http://www.volunteerscotland.org.uk/ - it allows people to get the necessary work experience to go onto bigger and better things and help causes which they identify with. You'll probably find over half of all journalism and media work is done voluntarily, I'm sure there's a fair bit of it that goes on at your own club, as with many others across the leagues.
  2. Thistle fans, Do you dream of being the next Chick Young or Jim Traynor? Youth Football Scotland is a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the experience & confidence of young players around the country, improving participation in the sport and using football as a vehicle for education/employability. Ahead of the 2012/13 season we are holding recruitment evenings across Scotland (with one in Glasgow), looking for people to join our revamped journalism, video, radio and photography teams. The roles are voluntary but have a great deal of potential personal benefits (including certification through the Saltire Awards) as well as knowing you're making a difference to the future generations of aspiring players. No great deal of experience is required, just enthusiasm. No regular commitment is needed, just a willingness to get involved. Right now our team has budding sports media professionals on the cusp of making it, high school students doing their work experience and people who just want to do a bit of volunteering and think watching football would be a fun way to go about it. Everyone really. If this sounds like something that may interest you I'd encourage you to hit the link below and come along to one of our informational evenings. If you can't make any of them, we'd still like to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to read and if anyone wants to PM or reply with any questions, I'd be glad to answer. http://youthfootballscotland.co.uk/recruitment
  3. Thanks Tom. Have a bash at our quiz if you have the time! http://www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk/component/content/article/34/863
  4. Hi guys, I won't yap on as much this time, but there was quite a lot of interest so I just thought I'd let you know we are live and ready to go. http://www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk/ Enjoy!
  5. And forgot to say - good luck for today's semi final!
  6. Thistle fans, Hopefully the enclosed is of some interest to you... YFS is a new not-for-profit social enterprise launching in November. The primary target is to provide a one stop interactive information, communication, and service resource for the players, coaches, teams, clubs and referees involved in Scottish youth football (all completely free of charge). We want to bring everyone together. There are three distinctive elements to our approach: Information services Database of clubs, facilities, pitches and kit/equipment retailers, calendar of events and advice & resources for coaches, players, goalkeepers, teams and referees. A platform for any useful information, internally or externally sourced, to be broadcast to the masses. Dynamic content News centre, YFS TV & Radio, picture gallery (all offering club, local, regional and national levels of coverage). Every club has a page to which they will be invited to submit their own material (subject to moderation), creating a constant conveyer belt of content. Interactive features Community forums for all users to engage in banter and debate; competitions; and player/coach/team recruitment services – getting those who aren’t already playing/coaching the opportunity to see all of the teams they can potentially join (and also helping teams who don’t have enough players). Right now you can visit www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk for a sneak preview plus a free information pack. Our Facebook & forums are also live and accessible through that link, should you have an active interest and wish to get involved. There is a presentation evening in Paisley on 2nd November (and also Hamilton on 8th November) that you can register for through the front page. Anyone is welcome to this (although you do have to fill out the short form) event, which will also feature a number of on the night discounts from various suppliers and services providers. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or contact [email protected] - thanks and enjoy! (mods - I hope this is OK, feel free to shift if I've put it in the wrong forum)
